Moderator's Report

SUMMARY

Phil Thornton, in a Lotus, inherits the win after post race moderation. He also set the fastest lap of the race. Bastian Grupp who crossed the finish first in a Brabham, is demoted to second. Francesco Molteni rounds out the podium in another Brabham!

Ronnie Nilsson, who started from Pole, forgot to do his S&G and he retired after realizing. No reason to DQ him. Other pitstops were performed according to the rules, although Phil his was borderline. Please come to a clear full stop.

One incident was reported.

Server replay time: 0h17m48s

Bastian rearends Phil into the hairpin. Phil was close behind Billy, and Bastian gained while braking and had the better line. At the same point Phil was slightly slower than the lap before, and Bastian was slightly faster entering. There was no attempt to overtake from Bastian, he got caught out by Phil his line and speed. Phil had to do a reset, Bastian could continue.

Phil states: I left my braking quite late and consequently had the inside line. I was as close to Billy as was possible to be and I had made the corner when Bastian rear ended me.

Bastian says: I was unexpectingly fast approaching Billy and Phil towards the hairpin. Phil went inside and I went to the outside to have some space. I had to turn in and was not expecting Phil to -block- the hairpin and unfortunately hit Phil.

Even when Phil his line was not optimal which compromised his entry speed, the responsibility has to lie with Bastian. When approaching and gaining on the car in front, you need to be prepared to adjust your entry and cornering speed to the car(s) in front.

This was avoidable, and it has to be a Simple Rear End Shunt: Penalty 1 Place.

2. The victim had partially lost control before contact and consequently his line was unusual. The shunter was in full control.

Check out this GPLRACER topic:

http://forum.gplracer.eu/topic.php?id=1420&highlight=sandown&

The direct link to the (server) patch is here

I propose Axel and Jethro install this patch at their servers, as it seems to fix the occasional screenfreezes...

"Thanks to the server-update by the author of the track [...] there are no freezes of the server running a full grid anymore."

I wasn't able to upload my rpy as a rar or a 7zip

Replay clip: /tmp/phprhZ7G4 from phil2.rar size 610545
Error(s) while uploading attachments: Array (
  • => bad_extension )

I did it another time, renaming the rar to a .zip which opens up.
My Laptop doesn't seem to generate zip types anymore, didnt find the option anymore

I'm using latest WinRAR which has implemented also 7zip support (ofcourse also zip). You'll have to early next week to upload, or do upload somewhere else.

I understand Bastian, but you should have adjusted your entering speed and avoiding hitting Phil. Try to see it from Phil's perspective, he lost the chance to fight for the win, and had arguably the fastest car. His line was not optimal and you could have anticipated the situation when Billy was just in front of Phil.

I get no relief or fun penalizing, in contrary. But we must follow the rules.
