Yeah baby yeah!

Did a lap or 10 yesterday evening. Got to a low 1.49s, might improve a little but not much more. Maybe it requires more corner cutting on Brands? Terrific track by the way. Nice and flowing, fast and slow corners with elevations changes. Very un-Tilke like track hahaha

Thanks to MJ and Ed for the setup tips. Much appreciated.

My practice went reasonably, if locking the diff on every upshift, is a good thing. I'm doing something wrong, in the lifting/shifting department. I know its not good for tyre life, so I'll pass. Sorry gents.

Well that didn't quite go to plan. After Fast Ed abstained from qually, it was left to me and Pete to duke it out for pole. I bagged it on my very last lap of the sesh  Smiley
Got a clean start and led for half a lap but got off line when I tried taking the fast right hander from the inside line  Shocked Pete nipped ahead as several of us had a messy time through the woods.
Then with 3 of us having into paddock I dived to the right inside when Mark locked up ahead of me and thinking Chris was taking a wider line. But we converged on the apex and both of us span off, so sorry for that. Embarrassed
Hung around for him to rejoin and lost a load of places but then had my only fun of the race re-catching the pack and getting back up to 3rd where I stayed for a rather dull second half of the race. Sadly lack of numbers made it an empty track for too long. In hindsight I should have chosen the Indy layout as only 7 cars. Undecided

But thanks to those who showed up considering it was only cobbled together a day ago and good to see a new face (Stephen W)  Smiley

It's a great car and a great track  Cool just needs the numbers. Was wondering is the Alfa able to race this escort on pace?

I enjoyed racing these, love the controllable oversteer on corner entry that the default setup gave me. May not be the quickest way but it was fun.

Was happy to get a good 10-15 sec gaps after the 1st few laps but I could see Ed's pace was significantly quicker so wasn't surprised he chased me down. In response I punted him off at the T2 hairpin  Kiss Stupid really as I wasn't trying to pass and thought it was one corner I was slow at but Ed on this lap was even slower! Waited for him to come past before continuing as all muppets should.

BTW talking of muppets sorry about the fuel usage, some how I changed the server from 200% to 10%  Roll Eyes

Perhaps we should do a series with these, hint hint Wink

Now that was entertaining for the first half. Somehow i was more than half a second slower on raceday. Maybe i should have left the gearing a tad longer, feels slower but was not in the end. Ohwel even then i would have not have had the pace to keep up with the frontrunners.

After the antics of the first laps i found myself in 2nd and was holding everybody up nicely. Went wide myself and had to let the pack go by. Did not have the pace to catch up and with some of the less fast people leaving, the second half was a bit lonely. I am slowly but surely learning this track and it is very nice.

ehm no MJ, the AR-GTA is no match for the little Escort. A Shelby Corbra or a Countach however will have its work cut out on a tight and twisty track against the RS1600.... Also couldn't help to notice that the F 312T and the 72D are closely matched too. angel

Firstly, thanks to race control for getting this off the ground in short notice. Pity it was such short notice that a lot must have missed it. Still it was a great combo and one that I'll let a good friend of mine have a go on sometime. His name is Mike Crabtree (yes I know, name dropping again) and he was quite a racer in his time. Take a look at this if you've got time.

Albeit it's at Crystal Palace, it still shows that AC have got the way the car handles spot on.
