Porsche 910 Funrace  at  Nassau Oakes Field Course

To verify the fix of the pitlane bug on the sunny Bahamas "Nassau Oakes Field Course" we use the Porsche 910.

During 1954 – 1966, the Nassau Speed Weeks were a high-octane end of season ‘play-off’
in the sun between Americans and Europeans – serious racing and even more serious partying!
1966 was to see the last of the Speed Weeks for the time being.

This track was created by Remy and Ginetto for the upcoming CanAm 66 mod Roll Eyes

It's a track too tough to tame!  I spent the previous event in getting to grips with the curves.  It was more of a tangle, than a Tango, but left me in better shape for a Porsche bash.

All hopes for the win soon disappeared - seeing only 3 or 4 fps while the leaders remained in sight.  I quickly headed for the bushes to avoid embarrassment.  This didn't work very well.  It was a lap before my race got up to speed.

It would've been very lonely out there, but for a driver learning his way around during the race.  Not an easy task.  I'd just settled into last place, when the shrubbery grabbed my car in an embarrassing place, with leaders approaching, so I retired.  An entertaining track, even when soldiering around at the back. Sad Wink

I confirm, it's a great track with a wonderfull layout and a good length.

BUT

With 65s and GT's!
I had bad framedrops too on several parts when another car was in sight or in mirror
- on the Sassoon Straight ~ 20fps!!!
- the Prince George Corner was a horror slideshow Shocked

We must report Ginetto about it...

...I had bad framedrops too on several parts...

I didn't notice anything bad? Maybe not locked on 60 thru the final bends but solid everywhere else (except in the pits but that's w/e).

Fun track, tho I'm still trying to figure a good line through Royal Vic. I'm always braking and turning in too soon and having to take another bite at the second apex, or missing it completely.  Sad

Can we get some Porsche setups from the fast guys, please? Even my prib lap is two seconds off-pace.

I've just solved my fps problems (by turning off pribluda!), but last evening it was still 20 fps on the grid and 30 fps in the long straight after first turns... Decided to pull off the track and retire... That's too bad as I started to feel the track and by the end of qual I had a setup which proved to be fast and stable enough.

Grats Robert and finishers!

Tough race. Struggling with my health as well.

Didn't see the flag that was hiding, and missed the start. Had wrong gearings, using 3rd where I should use 2nd, and too low tirepressures. Everybody outaccelerated me and had better topspeed. Also had FPS drops, especially in traffic and the last turn that I missed quite frequently.

Apart from that it was a messy race, especially Lap 1, and then basically won because everyone else made even more mistakes than me...had some nice side by sides with some, and I like the Porsche's handling with predictable oversteer...

I was impressed with Greg's pace, hope you can eliminate the mistakes, but the raw pace is there (again) Wink

But next time I would change gearings and use higher tirepressures as I said...as for your problems at Royal Vic, I brake and shift back in between the two brakemarkers (3rd was great for that part), have a early first apex accelerating again, using all width of the track and then again having a nice tight line and early exit. Best thing is to watch replays of Greg and me in our best laps I guess...

Congrats Rob and Axel!

It was very difficult with my present computer problems, tearing in oglv2 and a lousy frame rate in d3dv2. I think I've found a temporary solution using d3dv2 until a new motherboard arrives. When I first experienced the oglv2 tearing with this new cpu, I switched to d3dv2. The frame rate was horrible but the tearing was gone. I lowered the anti aliasing and anisotropic filtering to correct that but then my video card started kicking out of 3D mode. I've found a balance now with the 67 F1s that keeps the frame rate up with d3dv2 without going into 2D mode.

I've was late so I was in such a hurry I didn't lower graphics settings or turn off pribluda before the race started. It was a slide show early in the race until I went off for the first time. Later as I got close to anybody I'd get stuttering too. Even when alone entering 3 or 4 turns the tearing with oglv2 was as difficult to deal with as stuttering. My frame rate must have been dropping terribly for the short time I was behind Axel with Rob behind me. I couldn't control the car well at all especially considering you have to slide it so much on this track. I kept thinking, I'm glad these aren't the Can Ams. It would have been even more difficult considering how often I'm in a slide with them.

lol Rob missed the flag! I've done it multiple times so far. It's shrouded by the umbrella plus it's camouflaged since the umbrella is green. I knew what had happened to you immediately.

With my poor computer performance, about all I did right was, a few good laps here and there. And I managed to not take anybody out of the race, I think?

A new motherboard and unfortunately a reformat of my hard drive and I think my computer woes ought to be over for a while. I'm looking forward to being able to go back to concentrating on my driving instead of fiddling with this piece of crap.

Thanks for the fun guys.
