Season 29 - Friday Formula 2 Trophy - Round 11 - Dundrod 65

The next round of the Formula 2 Championship will take place at Dundrod in County Antrim, Northern Ireland. Dundrod is a street circuit used for the RAC Tourist Trophy for sports cars between 1950 and 1955 and for the motorcycle Ulster Grand Prix from 1953 onwards. It is taken from the ancient Celtic phrase which means “the place with an awful lot of corners” (not really). Good luck!

In S29 we will race F2 and Sport Car mods alternating.
This Trophy is intented as a fun series, so keep the fairness high and respect drivers with different skills.  Wink

Handicapping:
Heavies - have allways free car choice.
Lights   -  each F2 car can be used only once! Only one GT can be used twice!
Any illegal use of a car will be a DQ! So make shure you have a plan Wink

Drivers must complete 50% of the race distance to score.
ONE reset is allowed but the Shift R must be followed by a Stop & Go in the pit lane within TWO laps.

Please check the Season 29 pages for details regarding rules and the Friday Trophy pages in particular.

Race List =  IGOR
Server = UKGPL_8
IP Address = look at IGOR
Race date = 15-01-2016
GPL mod = F2
60fps patch used = 60fpsV2newmod
Track dir = Dundrod 65
Qualification = 20:45  UK time -> 45min
Race = race starts at ~21:30 UK time
Race length = ~45 min -> 11 laps
Damage Model = INT
Replay = you will get here

Please restrict chat to emergency messages only, including at the end of the race until ALL drivers still racing have crossed the line.
Using the "no letterbox" patch makes chat messages in car obsolete, so you better uncheck it in GPL options Wink

There will be moderation only for reported incidents. Please submit incident reports within a week after the race so that the moderators report may be out before the next race.

GLA and have FUN

I'm really beginning to think we should move away from 60 fps. Apart from the frame rate problems, we are getting freeze after freeze, at least I am. My enjoyment of participation is freezing with it.

I did one lap in a practice race, and zero in the feature before everything went sub zero  Sad . Bit peeved tbh, what a waste of time.

Sorry Tommie but I don't think that is related to 60fps Roll Eyes

I made a test with my working eco PC using the onboard HD4250 graphics and a 3200MHz PhenomII x3
and had solid 60fps with CA66 at Nassau with 5 AI!

My engine blew mid race in a save 2nd position and I was out of my rhythm after that and destroyed my car after the silly jump...

I don't think there's any point in continueing for me for a while. Ever since UKGPL started using 60 fps I'm getting more freezes that in all previous years combined. I'm risking damage to my PC, plus I can't be sure I can make it to the end of races any more. Just lost the inclination Sad

I really enjoyed this one. No FPS problems + I had a few hours for training so I was in form too. Still I missed brake markers two times, but the escape roads helped me out Smiley I'm happy I never lost the car at the jump, that's the trickiest part of the track. Grats Mark on victory! I was nowhere near that pace Smiley

I don't think it is related to 60fps.
We are running with 60fps in F1legends league (sometimes with 50 racers on 3 servers) since more than one year without any issues.

But we can make a try, and run with 36fps for 1 or 2 championship (for example Friday and 69X) and see if there are some improvements.

I love Dundrod but last night I was not feeling it at all. Got caught out in the first turn consertina (despite backing off early, imo) & then more & more errors all my own making equalled retirement.
I still have to get to grips with these f2 cars, I have yet to find a setup that I am comfortable with.

Grats podium.

I made a very bad choice with the BT14. I thought all F2 cars should be used during the season but there are only 10 races and 12 F2...
I should have choosen the Lotus 41 or the Ferrari 166...

I just made a try with Lotus 41, only 3 laps and my best was 3'42''01.
7 or 8 seconds quicker per laps than BT14.

BT14 Top speed was 246km/h (Lotus 41 was 270 km/h) ...
in fact, the BT14 is just an improved F3 Wink

I really love this track, it's got such a great flow to it. Had to concentrate very hard to keep the correct rhythm for the whole race.

I like it, but can't seem to get it right. Every time I try to push just a little harder, one of the verges gets me all kerfuffled and have to either back way off to gather it back up or crash. Or I just crash without the first option being available. Whereas at Clermont, I'm right on pace with the fast guys.

Maybe a few thousand more laps would do it. Tongue

Wanna talk concentration? Trying to keep the gap to Tris on Tuesday at CF. Man, I was beat (mentally and physically) after that. Cheesy

First, i had to relearn the tricky track.

I was avoiding a collision at turn 1 in the race but spun.

After a few laps i had a disco as well....
