Moderator's Report

SUMMARY

Bastian Grupp wins the race in a Cooper, in front of Ronnie Nilsson in a BRM, who was a lap down. Francesco Molteni rounds out the podium in a Honda, after post-moderation. Congratulations!

Race turnt out to be a survival test. Heartbreak for Michael Turner who suffered from electrical problems lying in second position, but still was awarded points for fourth. Gareth Hall set Pole and Fastest Lap, but had to retire eventually, like Dave Curtis who led for the first half of the race. They were still awarded points for making it halfway, like Bernie Darwin who was the last points scorer.

All S&Gs were performed according to the rules, but many had problems with the entry, or exit. It is best to recon pitlane topography before the race, and to practise a pitstop or two.

Server replay time: 0h17m54s

Francesco did his S&G on lap 14 but missed the pit exit, had to reverse and was subconsequently DQ-ed. He finished the race though, and asked for being reinstated.

Since this track had a very difficult pitlane topography, notably the entry and exit, the moderators have decided this was an Undeserved Black Flag. Therefore Francesco has been reinstated as third, 2 laps down.

It is best to practise a S&G before the race to learn the entry and exit of the pitlane. Sandown has a particular difficult entry, and small gap to exit the pitlane.

Season 29 Privateers Trophy - Round 07 - Sandown

Sandown International Raceway is a motor racing circuit in Melbourne, Victoria, approximately 25 kilometres (16 mi) south east of the city centre. Sandown is considered a power circuit with its "drag strip" front and back straights being 899 and 910 metres long respectively.

Sandown was first built as a horse racing facility, dating back into the 19th century, but closed in the 1930s in a government run rationalisation program. Redevelopment began not long after World War II. A bitumen motor racing circuit was built around the outside of the proposed horse track (which was not completed until 1965) and was first opened in 1962 and held the race which became the Sandown 500 for the first time in 1964. The circuit hosted its first sprint round in 1965.

Please install the graphics update for this track, found here. It might fix eventual screenfreezes.

The servers need to be installed with a patch, the direct link to the (server) patch is here. I will PM both Axel and Jethro for them to install it, to fix screenfreezes.

Server = UKGPL_8
IP = see iGOR
Race date = Sunday 24-01-2016
Time = 21:00 UK time (21:00 GMT)
Track = sandown68
Race length = 44 Laps (50 minutes)
Variant = 1967
60fps patch used   = 60fpsV2newmod
Damage Model = Intermediate
Qualifying time = 30-45 minutes

1 SHIFT-R allowed (with a Stop n Go of 0 seconds)
No Stop n Go within 2 laps = DQ
Multiple SHIFT-R = DQ
Incorrect Stop n Go = 30 seconds added
Last lap SHIFT-R gains a 15 second penalty if a Stop is not possible.

Replays Available here

Driver lists and token rules can be found on the championship standings page

The full time drivers can start to practice as soon as the server is available.  Reserve drivers can also join as soon as the server becomes available but must leave the server with 35 minutes of qualifying left, for a total of 5 minutes; this will allow any remaining full timers to join.  If there is enough space on the grid, the reserve drivers will be able to rejoin when there are 30 mins of qualifying left.

This Season we don't have a Red Zone. Moderating will be on reported incidents only. If you haven't received a PM about an incident before the link below the results table is removed, you can be sure that you will not appear in the moderator's report.

The chassis token system is explained on the Privateers standings page. Please ensure you choose a chassis that is within your budget, which can be seen by hovering the mouse over your points total in the standings.

Please restrict chat to pit messages including at the end of the race until ALL drivers still racing have crossed the line.

Just froze up whilst practising - can't remember the last time GPL did that on me - I do hope this track won't cause problems.

To be sure did you install the update Ronnie? I have asked Axel and Jethro to install the server patch.

Can't recall having screenfreezes here, but there have been reports of others. Thought the graphics update and the server patch would fix eventual issues...

Fingers crossed...

Seems to be a glitch if you should lose it & go off track behind the crash barrier just before the Dunlop bridge , doing a s/r will land you right on on top of the Armco  Roll Eyes

unable to move off , you will have to retire ! tough luck if this happens to anyone in the race !

I guess if possible you need to avoid getting alligned with that spot while resetting...so if you're still are able to move a bit try to go a bit farther...otherwise I'd have no fix for this...won't help when you're on the roof/stationary...

So far track runs stable here. I hope the graphics and server fix will help ppl avoiding having problems. Wink

Oh... I did wonder why I was the last of two cars running!  Had great fun racing with you, Michael - sorry for you it had to end with a freeze up.

Sorry guys, should have changed the schedule in hindsight. Hoped the update and serverpatch would fix things. That said can't remember having screenfreezes here but it doesn't help the others that suffered from it.

I take full responsibility and you can blame me for pushing this race through...

Sorry to hear of more connection problems.  I would not blame yourself Robert, as all of Ukgpl has these troubles.  I have started part time racing with 3 Leagues in N. America.  No disco's seen - no lost framerates yet, but half a night's sleep lost each time!  Let me know when things are fixed here, chaps.  :'(

My Disco was my own after crashing out twice into that ruddy bridge and using up the S/R allowance

Surprised to get P2 in qually with a slightly nervous brabham , decided to change the r/b's for the race but made things worse than better  Roll Eyes

Like this track but hate the dark track colour , makes it hard for me to see whats in front , much prefare the normal grey tarmac .

Grats to Bastian on the win and well done to Ronnie , great drive in the bourne again banger   Smiley

No probs with frame rate & connection was fine for me
