Season 29 - Friday Sport Car Trophy - Round 12 - Dundrod 65

The next round of the Sport Car Championship will take place at Dundrod in County Antrim, Northern Ireland. Dundrod is a street circuit used for the RAC Tourist Trophy for sports cars between 1950 and 1955 and for the motorcycle Ulster Grand Prix from 1953 onwards. It is taken from the ancient Celtic phrase which means “the place with an awful lot of corners” (not really). Good luck!

In S29 we will race F2 and Sport Car mods alternating.
This Trophy is intented as a fun series, so keep the fairness high and respect drivers with different skills.  Wink

Handicapping:
Heavies - have allways free car choice.
Lights   -  each F2 car can be used only once! Only one GT can be used twice!
Any illegal use of a car will be a DQ! So make shure you have a plan Wink

Drivers must complete 50% of the race distance to score.
ONE reset is allowed but the Shift R must be followed by a Stop & Go in the pit lane within TWO laps.

Please check the Season 29 pages for details regarding rules and the Friday Trophy pages in particular.

Race List =  IGOR
Server = UKGPL_8
IP Address = look at IGOR
Race date = 22-01-2016
GPL mod = sc
60fps patch used = 60fpsV1
Track dir = Dundrod 65
Qualification = 20:45  UK time -> 45min
Race = race starts at ~21:30 UK time
Race length = ~45 min -> 11 laps
Damage Model = INT
Replay = you will get here

Please restrict chat to emergency messages only, including at the end of the race until ALL drivers still racing have crossed the line.
Using the "no letterbox" patch makes chat messages in car obsolete, so you better uncheck it in GPL options Wink

There will be moderation only for reported incidents. Please submit incident reports within a week after the race so that the moderators report may be out before the next race.

GLA and have FUN

Congrats Mark! I thought you handed me the win early, but I obviously needed more practice.

I apologize Roo and Axel. I tried to do a quick 180 in front of Roo but the rear didn't break loose. I spun in front of Axel. I locked the brakes hoping it would hold the car on the right but no luck. Very poor driving on my part. Sad

Somehow I missed my fuel calculations terribly. I thought I was using between 2.4 and 2.5 gallons per lap, so loaded 2.5 gallons X 11laps for 27.5 gallons + 0.5 gallons for insurance. My reset was early in lap 1 and my engine failed in the last half of the last lap and still had over 12 gallons. I was hoping to do a 3:29 but that assured I wouldn't.

It was fun though. I look forward to more laps in the GTs here, and other cars. Smiley

I apologize again for making such a mess. I can't blame it on the computer. It ran great.

YES, this is the perfect track for GT's!

I must apologize for the mess in the beginning...

It all began at the Nassau race when I had this bad stuttering.
I found it was the "transparency" option in the W7 aero design not working.
I found serveral people in the net having the same problem even in games...
So I did a new GPU driver install and all worked again, but only to the next booting when the transparency was gone again!

If there was no one using 36fps,
it must have been my  PC (sitting near the server) who made such flashes as my prib showed me stable 55fps....
So I quit in shortened quali and reseted my PC to a save restore point what took ~ 4 min Grin
With 3 min to go I rejoined Wink

A new install of W7 seems to be obligatory!  :'(

Great driving and racing with you guys, thanks for this ultimate FUN  chef

Wow, what a race!  Great qual battle with Greg.  Then I don't know what was wrong with me at the start - I just wasn't settled and wombled off in turn 2.  I rolled but landed back on the wheels and from practice I knew how to get back on the track from there.  Then I was ok and I carefully worked back past cars until I was in the lead.  I was keeping an eye on Prib and could see Greg coming at me lap after lap - I couldn't go any quicker.  But I knew if I just stayed calm I could win as the gap was large enough, but then I stupidly spun in a tricky right hander and got stuck in a hedge.  So then I had Greg right behind up until I did a stop and go in the pits.  After that I spent some time cursing at myself, I figured that was that, but Greg had a problem at Deer's Leap so I closed up again.  I pushed for all I was worth but I think Greg was gradually sneaking away, much to my frustration.  I couldn't believe I was gonna lose!  Then halfway round the last lap I though "was that a puff of smoke?  nah, can't be, Ferrari's are as reliable as an axe.  Wait a moment, he's slowing!  He blew his engine! He blew his engine! He blew his engine!"   Man, so relieved to grab that one.  What a track.

Ferrari's are as reliable as an axe.

lol Not when you're carrying extra fuel, trying to get away from you. Smiley

I'm such an idiot at times. My actual fuel use is a little less than 1.6 gallons/lap. I started with enough fuel for 17 or 18 laps. I went ahead and ran a few laps after the race since I was primed for it. The 330 will break 3:30. Smiley

I ruined Roo's race. Sad I'm glad I didn't ruin Axel's so bad.

Thanks, Greg, for the apology Smiley I admit I was cursing you afterwards - wtf! turn2 & someone is trying to recover while the whole field is on its way Wink
Also contemplated not even doing a SnG because I figured "not my fault & I'll probably need a reset later anyway!"
But I did my SnG & then at the end I did need a reset when I ended up in a field. I knew the hedge would not allow me back to track so I drove back to the corner to rejoin at the haybales & was DQ'd for going the wrong way... bollox! Sad

Well, it was fun chasing Dean & doni while it lasted Smiley

Success I found the culprit!

With one of the several AMD GPU drivers there is a GPU mirror driver installed!!!

-> in device manager- show hidden devices - non pnp drivers - AODdriver 4.3

just uninstalled it and transparency was back! Phew saved me an OS reinstall...
