Moderator's Report

A victory for the underdogs. A difficult city circuit with some long straights but the underpowered Coopers driven by Johnny & Walter took 1st & 3rd places, split by the fastest lap setter Maddog in the BRM.
Walter started his race from the pitlane which is ahead of the start / finish. His finish time was restated & Bernie loses a provisional podium.
No reported incidents & all stop & go\'s complied with.

There seems to be a supply/demand issue... not as much run-off area as required...

Very brief appearance. My PC crashed on lap 1. Didn't look like a regular disco, it just crashed to a blank screen.
Was looking forward to some good racing but if practice has been anything to go by probably would have ended in the hay bales.

I ran a few laps in qually. I decided to use my Montjuic setup with taller gearing. I was called away from the computer at the race start. That is what you call bad timing! I started from pit lane, a lap down, but had fun catching up. Maybe the race stewards will be gracious and give me the lap back? If not, no problem. I am happy with the result either way.  Smiley

Thanks for the race,
Walter

I think my problem was a loose power lead - which is easily fixable.

Walter - did you finish ahead of Bernie? If so there is a podium at stake. If not its fairly academic - but please file a report.

Rog - really sorry to hear that you having repeated screen freezes. Really no idea what to suggest other than a full reinstall. If it is fixable Cookie seems to be the best person to contact. Might be worth dropping him a PM if you have any idea where the problem lies.

Congratulations to the podium - a hard track to tame.

A screen freeze at the end of qualifying was close enough to possibly miss the start but thankfully I got back in. Not enough practice left me struggling to piece together a qualifying lap but it all came together just in time- I managed to avoid the first lap incident and then soon after inherited first place. A clean run saw the coop take the flag- shame about the discos. Thanks all see you next time.

Hi Grats to Johnny on win
    Grats to Podium

Has or can anyone point me to a link for the following as none of these links for GPL windows install work

(Here's another way to easily get the GPL working under any Windows AND looking great, GPLPS:

http://gplps.org/wb/pages/projects/gpl-installer.php

All you need to know is on the site.
Esentially, you get all the patches, all the new car graphics, and all new track graphics, except for Monaco.)

Hi Walter

I could see you coming , or rather I could see a car but no idea who or what as prib showed no one behind me on the same lap , I wasn't sure if you were lapping me or you were one of the front guys who was catching me up after a s/r and pit in situation.   wasn't really sure at all weather to race you or cede , up till then I was doing a leasurely pace determined to finish in one piece as I had only a cat in hells chance of catching the leaders up , As you got closer I saw no blue flags so decided you were unlapping yourself and wasn't to worried about you passing me , if i had known the situation I would have made more of a race of it , though the outcome possibly would have been the same ( who knows ) .
My worst handicap here ( apart from falling asleep on the long straights ) was judging the braking distances into the two left handers with no proper brake markers to help I dont think I got the anchors on in the same place twice , as any overshoot would mean a trip to the honey coated hay bales . I was lucky , the only time i did it wrong was when you came by , more concerned about knocking you off than watching the road .

If the mods think you have the podium thats OK with me , no probs buddy .

It's a dangerous place to hold a race!  The setup was cobbled, as the streets were cobbled and confined, using bales with excess glue.

Both Dave and I had cars with speed and winning potential.  The first corner had other ideas.  We came to a sudden halt, after a haybale threw itself across the track to arrest our progress.  Some great driving from all behind, to avoid a major disaster. Shocked

By lapse end, a fiendish Cooper had emerged from rearward hiding, and hid ahead with a lead.  I soon realized to catch it, I'd need to further streamline my overstretched Brm.  This failed to work, but did leave a trail of debris around the esses, for any planning an attack.

Around midrace, a wheel leasurely attached itself to a bail of glue, and a 2nd was the best I could do.

Sorry for those who did not survive.  I continue only with '65's, as the Lite carset and Server seem to give acceptable conditions, from this location.
