Moderator's Report

SUMMARY

Sam Blood -in a Lotus- wins his first race of the season, holding of a hard charging Peter Antonsen in a Ferrari and Robert Fleurke in a Brabham rounds out the podium. Sam started from Pole and led all laps despite Fleurke and Antonsen trying hard to get by. Well deserved win, many congratulations! Peter Antonsen set the fastest lap in the race, and despite two spins was able to get back to the leaders twice, and snatched P2 from Fleurke -who outbraked himself- in the penultimate lap. Three drivers finishing within a second is quite impressive!

In general another impressive display by most Works drivers, well done! No incidents were reported.

Andreas Gebhardt has to miss coming races, to work on his recovery. Get well soon mate!

Season 29 Works Trophy - Round 08 - St. Jovite - Mont Tremblant

Circuit Mont-Tremblant is a 4.26 km (2.65 mi) race circuit about 13 km (8.1 mi) south of the village of Mont-Tremblant, Quebec, Canada. The name of the village of Saint-Jovite was often included in the name of the circuit, but since the village was amalgamated into Mont-Tremblant in the year 2000, it is no longer considered or functions as an independent entity since then.

The first two sections of the circuit were built in 1964 and extended by another mile into September 1965. The extension featured long straights and by virtue of the terrain, a small hill. Nicknamed "the Hump" it gained legendary status during the inaugural 1966 Can Am race. Two drivers in practice found that their cars, both near identical Lola T70 CanAm cars, launched themselves into the air. Both drivers emerged unhurt but were unable to compete in the race. The Canadian winters quickly rendered the track surface very bumpy and as a result, the attrition rate was quite high in the two Canadian Grand Prix Formula One events staged at the circuit. Of the 40 cars entered in those two races (20 each, in 1968 and 1970), 21 reached the checkered flag (with only 16 classified – the rest finishing too far behind the race winners).

Apart from the tracklink below, the track can be found here together with graphics update from EB or Cabbalero.

The full time drivers can start to practice as soon as the server is available.  Reserve drivers can also join as soon as the server becomes available but must leave the server with 35 minutes of qualifying left, for a total of 5 minutes; this will allow any remaining full timers to join.  If there is enough space on the grid, the reserve drivers will be able to rejoin when there are 30 mins of qualifying left.

This Season we don't have a Red Zone. Moderating will be on reported incidents only. If you haven't received a PM about an incident before the link below the results table is removed, you can be sure that you will not appear in the moderator's report.

The chassis token system is explained on the Works standings page. Please ensure you choose a chassis that is within your budget, which can be seen by hovering the mouse over your points total in the standings.

Please restrict chat to pit messages including at the end of the race until ALL drivers still racing have crossed the line.

ARGH...save your energy for the next race, this is weird  Undecided

...& what I mean is: The track is fun, but it seemed like CB had the same problem. There is plenty of grass, you think you can save the situation if you slip out...but you quickly get a huge shock with all the invisible walls.

Do we have an incorrect version of this track  Huh

I tried both updates, not much difference IMO Wink It's just an older add-on track, but has a challenging and interesting lay-out...

Made it 11 laps, which is a massive improvement of late, but came unstuck and three-wheeled my way into a ditch before a bridge.

Will try to put some more in for the next two, hopefully some better showings will come along Grin Grin. Grats winner and podium, see you at the next one guys.

Grats to the podium!
Had good company for about all the race, especially with Rainier!
But this was my last race for a while.  Sad Have to go to (dont know in english) Spa/Recovery after my Cancer-Operation. But its only about 120km from my home, mybe I can sneak out for the 69x Race...
So long!

My goodness, I actually won this race!! I was by no means the fastest in race-trim, Rob and Peter had that pleasure, but thanks to the narrow circuit I was able to hold on.

Just about managed to bag pole, befitting from the Lotus, but that lap was a one-off. There was no way I'd be able to lap at that pace consistently and so it proved once the flag dropped. It was clear Rob was far quicker and much more confident on the brakes throughout the lap, but I managed to get decent exits on most corners which prevented him from passing.

From the sounds of things I squeezed Rob and Peter a bit too close for comfort on some corners. I'll go and watch the replay when it becomes available, but all I can do is apologise and plead to being oblivious.

Of course I'm delighted to have won but it's a real credit to Rob and Peter, despite their faster pace, didn't try anything reckless which could have ended our races. See you all at the next one  Smiley.

Also, get well soon Andreas  Smiley.

I think maybe this is because of what I wrote in the chat, but you did absolutely nothing wrong towards me for that short amount of time I was close to you!.. from my viewpoint it looked like Rob was alongside you (on the outside) braking before the backstraight and you guys touched, but seeing the replay it was Rob who had a little touch from behind and as he so clearly pointed out, that's racing.. Sorry for the comment it was only in reference to Rob pointing out that you guys touched when I was able to sneak by the first time..

Great job defending for 30 laps, that's tough! ;-)
