Season 29 - Friday Sport Car Trophy - Round 14 - Monza 1000km

The next round of the Sport Car Trophy will take place at Monza 1000km the original track layout they used in 1967.
The chicanes were necessary to prevent the big bangers from flying   Shocked

For the drivers with weaker PC power, use the "mnz1000k Lite addon" from our download!

In S29 we will race F2 and Sport Car mods alternating.
This Trophy is intented as a fun series, so keep the fairness high and respect drivers with different skills.  Wink

Handicapping:
Heavies - have allways free car choice.
Lights   -  each F2 car can be used only once! Only one GT can be used twice!
Any illegal use of a car will be a DQ! So make shure you have a plan  thumbup1

Drivers must complete 50% of the race distance to score.
ONE reset is allowed but the Shift R must be followed by a Stop & Go in the pit lane within TWO laps.

Please check the Season 29 pages for details regarding rules and the Friday Trophy pages in particular.

Race List =  IGOR
Server = UKGPL_8
IP Address = look at IGOR
Race date = 05-02-2016
GPL mod = SC
60fps patch used = 60fpsV1
Track dir = mnz1000k
Qualification = 20:45  UK time -> 45min
Race = race starts at ~21:30 UK time
Race length = ~45 min -> 14 laps
Damage Model = INT
Replay = you will get here

Please restrict chat to emergency messages only, including at the end of the race until ALL drivers still racing have crossed the line.
Using the "no letterbox" patch makes chat messages in car obsolete, so you better uncheck it in GPL options Wink

There will be moderation only for reported incidents. Please submit incident reports within a week after the race so that the moderators report may be out before the next race.

I'll be taking the reins of the Ford Mk4 for this round.  Looking for some really keen top end.  Early tests, tho, reveal that it's an abomination in the 2nd banking as control is very much a flip of the coin.  I see by GPL Rank that Axel practically owns this place in the GT's and is light-years faster than I.  Good one, Cookie!  Smiley

We are at Monza 1000km =mnz1000k with the chicanes before the bankings!!!

A MK4 is not a good idea here...

YIKES!  Thanks for the headsup correction, Axel.  It's not for the first time that I've got those venues confused.  Back to the drawing board...  Wink

I always found those chicanes more dangerous than the bankings Cheesy

Congrats Axel!  That was a tough race, I had to push very hard to keep ahead of Greg, but profited from his mistake at the end and snatched back 2nd place.  No chance of matching Axel's pace in the lead.  Good fun.

Congrats Axel and Mark! That was a very convincing win for Axel! Mark did great limiting his mistakes.

I knew my high 1st gear was going to trouble. Just as I thought would happen, I got trounced off the line. Dean made a mistake that let me by somewhat quickly. I got a bit impatient the first time I passed Mark. I knew I was running out of time and I'd never get a tow from Axel. I took the inside from Mark entering the chicane. Unfortuntely I ran wide and caught one those invisible snags on the left rail. I'd do that again later. Sad Tough car though, it took two decent hits without failing.
Oh, I apologize Dean for the bump I gave you. I was relieved you appeared to continue without trouble. I misjudged how fast you'd be. I feel like the Lola is much faster entering, through, and exiting the chicane. That may be an illusion though.

Overall, it was fun. Same as always though, if I don't prepare well Axel and Mark take advantage of me. I moved my brake bias forward and lowered 1st gear. I should be better prepared if I race here again.

Thanks guys.

Thanks for the compliments, but imho the ChapF is by far the best car for this track Wink
I had made some tests with Phil Woodwards setup from rank and it was good driveable, but is made for a hotlap only.
So I made a more comfortable setup that still was capable of mid 2:47s ...

In the race I saw that nobody could follow and had to do save laps only and never overrev the engine (6500max!) to have good temps.
