Season 29 - Friday Sports Car Trophy - Round 18 - Virginia

The next round of the Sports Car Trophy will take place at VIR.
Virginia International Raceway (VIR) has a mixture of tight corners and wide sweeping fast sections.
It is also quite wide and allows plenty of room for passing

In S29 we will race F2 and Sport Car mods alternating.
This Trophy is intented as a fun series, so keep the fairness high and respect drivers with different skills.  Wink

Handicapping:
Heavies - have allways free car choice.
Lights   -  each F2 car can be used only once! Only one GT can be used twice!
Any illegal use of a car will be a DQ! So make shure you have a plan  thumbup1

Drivers must complete 50% of the race distance to score.
ONE reset is allowed but the Shift R must be followed by a Stop & Go in the pit lane within TWO laps.

Please check the Season 29 pages for details regarding rules and the Friday Trophy pages in particular.

Race List =  IGOR
Server = UKGPL_8
IP Address = look at IGOR
Race date = 04-03-2016
GPL mod = SC
60fps patch used = 60fpsV1
Track dir = VIR
Qualification = 20:45  UK time -> 45min
Race = race starts at ~21:30 UK time
Race length = ~45 min -> 26 laps
Damage Model = INT
Replay = you will get here

Please restrict chat to emergency messages only, including at the end of the race until ALL drivers still racing have crossed the line.
Using the "no letterbox" patch makes chat messages in car obsolete, so you better uncheck it in GPL options Wink

There will be moderation only for reported incidents. Please submit incident reports within a week after the race so that the moderators report may be out before the next race.

GLA and have FUN

aaaah that was really terrible mistake by myself. in the end I just tried to hit the heyballs frontal but i was way too fast.
I should have gone to bed already.

You can blame me not to able riding a sportscar dean. i'd like to hide under my bed for about one year.

Congrats Dave, Axel! There wasn't many of us but I was glad to see two pairs contesting positions.

That was a terrible mismatch. I should have used the 2F for the previous race. I couldn't decide between Imola and Virginia as to where I thought the Mark 1 would be disadvantaged least. I probably just decided to use the Chap 2F on the US track, a home track for the car.

It would have been a fight with the Mark 1. I couldn't have afforded to make the two or three mistakes I made in the 2F. I struggled a bit with the first few turns of the race. After that I did well for 10 laps and then my mind wandered. I started thinking, should I slow down and give the other drivers a chance to stay on the lead lap or should I continue to run fast and see how consistent I can be. Right after that I put a wheel off the track where I hadn't previously and spun, thus hitting a wall. Sad I recovered slowly from that.

About the time I lapped Carlos and Dean, I started thinking I was going to run out of fuel. I saved fuel for two or three laps and then I realized my calculation incorrect. I was calculating for 27 laps. Nice to see I could have made another lap (27) if I had needed. It was great that I could get back on the throttle heavy for the last several laps. I never expected to catch Axel and Dave so quickly. With 3 laps to go, when I caught them, I went ahead a lapped so I could get out of the way sooner. I didn't think I'd catch you two until the last lap and then I would have just backed off.

It shame we didn't have bigger field. Most others seem to prefer smaller displacement, open wheel mods. I'll continue to drive this mod even if I have to do it offline. There's so much more I want to learn about driving these cars. Nurburgring in the GTs can keep me occupied for years.

I love this mod even with it's minor bugs. Unfortunately as I've gotten faster I encounter the brake bug more often. I had to be careful not to induce it at the end of the back straight.

Thanks guys. I hope there is a big turnout for Lemans. I missed the last one due to an interruption in my internet service.

Now ain't that a crying shame
Now wouldn't it be a real drag if we were all the same

I couldn't make it due to the flu, but I'm pumped for Le Mans as well.
