Moderator's Report

No reported accidents for this race.
FMG wins Round 10, starting from pole position. Rob continues the habit of bringing the Cooper home in second place & clinching the championship. FMG & Cookie are 2nd & 3rd for the season, both with 3 non-scoring rounds.
The field was very evenly matched, with less than a second covering the fastest lap of all drivers to complete race distance. Roo took 3rd place & fastest lap.

Cheers Billy, IMO Tim or Axel deserve to win the championship, since they won multiple races. They need to try to win the race and hope I don't finish on the podium Wink

It'll be hard for me to win I think - it's probably between you and Axel unless I get incredibly lucky!

That was short. Unfortunate spin up ahead created a brick wall of cars and the race was over for me before it had started. You have to laugh sometimes  laugh laugh laugh

Good luck to all still running.

I know how Roo feels, as that happened to me being the first car to reach Moss last year in oAo.

Wasn't sure if the Jops setup would work at Mosport, and forgot what track we did before that, so I dug out Hristo's Kyalami set and did some changes after a run, but stuffed up my chance to qually any faster.

Race start was good; I was lucky to pass Axel, while going between him and Roo, and set off to catch/hang on to Rob. After a few laps I started to drop back, and thought the tyres were overheating. Axel got a much better run out of Moss and I didn't fight hard, thinking if he was faster we could catch Rob or I could re-pass later. Big mistake Grin.

After enough laps of following Axel through Moss, I realised I was getting bad exits by exiting in 2nd gear, which left me lacking torque. Once I switched to 1st gear exits, I could get the same exit, but then hit a wall of only staying level with full slipstream. After 20 or so laps of trying different lines, I almost got inside Axel a few times, but was cautious enough to back out when he hadn't seen me or was continuing on the racing line.

It was real close stuff, a really fun battle, regularly within a car length in the corners. I could gain at apexes, but Axel held firm with good exits, especially from Moss. Near the end, Roo joined the party, setting fastest lap on the way, and this made it even more hectic, as I was now pushing hard to just stay as the meat of the sandwich.. I actually bump-drafted Axel coming out of the last corner with 3 to go! Shocked

I guess that was a sign, as on the penultimate lap, I was too committed in T2 to avoid Axel when he scrubbed speed as usual, ending the race long battle 2 laps short of the flag. A shame, as the podium was well deserved after soaking up 30 laps of pressure from behind Sad. I wanted to try and bump Axel back over but he Esc'd, so I got back on track and tried for fastest lap on the last lap, spinning at Moss.

This put Doni all over me down the back straight, and he was ahead on the inside into the penultimate corner, but I hung it around the outside, and he was cautious to see the flag. I thought about doing the pit lane side-by-side finish, if he got to the last corner still ahead (a little joke between us, after I let him lap me in the GTs by doing a drive through Tongue).

Mosport is a strange track to me. Sometimes I can put good laps together but often I struggle in every corner around the lap.
My quali lap was one of my 'good' ones (pb) but it left me concerned about the start/opening laps. We made it through the first few corners ok but then that bloody corner bit me again & I caused carnage.
Sorry to everyone Sad

I managed to stay on my wheels & got out of the way as soon as I could some 6s behind Axel. I couldn't close the gap at first but later in the race I started to gain on the battle ahead. I was able to pressure Iestyn but he's too experienced to crack & I opted to hang back rather than cause another accident. Then there was smoke ahead in T2 & I managed not to get radar locked onto it & made it through the corner to pick up a very lucky 3rd place.

Amazed at setting fastest lap (pb)!! I was chasing Iestyn at the time so got a bit of a tow down the back straight but a good 3rd sector really made the difference Smiley

Again, apologies to all, Ronnie in particular, for the mess on lap 1, grats to Tim on the win & Robert for the title.
I'm looking forward to competing a full season next season.

Grats Rob for the Champ! Well deserved!

Grats Tim to the win and second in Championship.

Mosport is one of the tracks I do not really like and so I am not fast here...
My race was planned  to have a save finish Roll Eyes
But all went wrong from the beginning,
I had the wrong glasses on my nose and I had forgotten to take my cup of tea to keep me awake.

After some laps I had Iestyn close on my rear and he kept me awake, but it did not help to improve the times,
maybe it would have been better to let him pass and try a repass at the end Roll Eyes

Was on a superlap in quali, but mis-shifted last sector and missed out on a possible sub25 and pole. Still a good P3 for the start. All went well until Moss, when Roo bottomed out I guess. No worries mate. Anyway, slowed and tried to miss him but touched with him and I stalled almost. Axel did an amazing job avoiding me, however Iestyn got by him. Got some minor damage in the process but it didn't affect my race. It did affect a lot of other cars behind though, tough luck...

The laps after were very good, setting fast lap after fast lap, trying to close the gap with Tim who already was 3s up. Iestyn behind helped to push a bit more. After about 10 laps had reeled in Tim, but you simply can't pass with the T77 when someone is so solid and fast as well. Even when Tim made a few little mistakes, it was not enough to pass him. Ofcourse, despite I really wanted to win badly, I had to make sure to finish, not to beat myself. Once Tim clipped the inside kerb at Moss, and I just could miss him, before he outdragged me on the backstraight being alongside. Had a few close tows there, but the P261/Tim combination simply was too strong. Last lap had a bad exit and that was that...

Great race Tim, you did what you had to do! Also a great recovery by Roo, but I feel for Axel who deserved a podium today despite his problems here.

No win this season, yet five P2's and I scored in all races. I wouldn't say I deserved to become champion once again, but I earnt most points...Tim discoed at Montjuic, and he didn't attend previous race at Jops, he had 4 wins. Also well deserved 3rd in the final standings by Axel, with 3 wins. Both could have become champion with a bit more luck.

However very happy to win 65 Pro for the third time in a row, despite having no wins this season. The schedule was very hard for the T77, with so many very fast tracks Wink My plan was taking the RA273 next season, but I suppose I have to take the BT7 instead  Tongue

Thanks all for racing, and thanks to Billy for modding and Axel for server duties! Smiley

Well done on the Championship Robert. Just because you didn't win a race doesn't make it any less deserved  Tongue

That was a great race to end on - I haven't been pressured like that for ages Grin

My qualifying time was only a few 10ths off my theoretical fastest lap so I was happy with that, although I had also managed to go green still on the first 3 sectors at one point before running out of fuel half way down the main straight - I have no idea what that would have given me but it should have been a little faster than my eventual pole time.

The race went well, after Roo's pirouette I had a gap but didn't want to push too hard as I needed to win.
With Axle and Rob holding 2nd and 3rd my only chance was to continue driving as fast as I could without taking risks and hope that they fell off/blew up chasing me down - I knew that even with a win I couldn't take the championship unless they were both 4th or lower...

Axle got unlucky with Iestyn but Robs car simply refused to blow up and he managed to keep it on the black stuff without issue all the way home, and also simultaneously badgered me the entire way to the flag hammer

Lots of fun - look forward to next season  Cool

Congratulations to Tim on a close win!  Super job by Robert to score a fine P2 in the little Cooper and right on Tim's tail pipes.

Nice recovery by Roo after livening things up down in the hairpin on Lap01.  Ahem, ahem...  Wink

I had a good if not great race first leading Dean then chasing.  I bottomed-out slightly twice going into T5A with second causing a minor off and losing the position to Dean.  Thereafter, I gave chase in a fast and furious and ultimately, unsuccessful attempt to wrestle back that position.  I must say that I was impressed with both Dean's pace and consistency.  Well done.

Congratulations to Robert on his GP65 Pro Title!  Remarkable performance in a 2nd-rate car.  Not that I'm shocked and surprised.  The cream always rises to the top, doesn't it?  Smiley

My season was less than stellar.  Two P2 finishes in the first three races was quite a thrill but the astonishing engine failure on the grid in Spain became the norm for my fortunes.  Shunts and failures featured far too often leaving me twisting in the wind.  Sigh...  Next year!  Smiley
