Moderator's Report

Server replay time: 0

Apologies for the delay in publishing the report.

Dave Curtis takes the chequered flag starting from 8th.
In the championship Johnny\'s third place finish at Mosport ahead of Carlos was enough to win the title by 6 points. Bastian was 3rd.

  • Racing incident

Server replay time: 0h22m05s

Martin is leading Rog & Bastian. He goes off track on the exit from turn 2. Rog does the sensible thing & pulls to the left of the track to avoid any contact. Bastian attempts to overtake both cars but runs into the back of Martin as he rejoins the track. Rog does everything right but is an unfortunate victim (he also asked for no penalties).
Martin was culpable of a poor rejoin but Bastian took a risk attempting to pass between two cars.

Grats Johnny and Carlos !

Thx for this nice Season to all of you.
Hope to see you all next Season.

I was not having big chances last night, put hard pressure on Johnny
and spun then while being unconcentrated for a split second.

Spun behind the armco and lost 21 Seconds, no chance to get back in front

Cheers,
Bastian

I can recommend the scenic delights of the countryside, when visiting a venue at Mosport.  I cannot recommend discovering this, while attempting to circulate competitively around the racetrack, there amongst. Roll Eyes

My problem during the race, seemed to be a driver who was too fast for the car.  This caused a loose wheel to fall off the track intermittently, which helped the car to become slower than the driver.  So, while I set forth with confidence, the car finished 8th with debris.

Many congrats. to Johnny, our new champion.  A worthy winner, and made to work hard for final victory. Cheesy

Congrats Johnny for the championship! Well Done Dave on the win! I enjoyed watching the front runners battle all season.

I had a good time scrapping for position at the back of the grid. The race slipped through my fingers after a few driver errors. No doubt that a little practice at Mosport is needed. My race ended early when the youngest member of my racing team woke from her nap.

I enjoyed driving for the Cooper team this season. It was well suited for twisty tracks. It was a fun car in the right circumstances. I have gained a lot more respect for drivers of lower powered cars.

Next season, I will join the Lotus team, and I hope that I can give a good effort.

A nervous end to a great season- I put plenty of practice in for Mosport as I expected stiff competition, I also made my online debut in a Ferrari. I sneaked pole on my last qualifying lap and got a clean get away- trying to drive steady with no mistakes- I could go a touch quicker but my consistency went through the window so I opted to aim for a finish rather than into the scenery. Never the less into the scenery we went with 5 laps to go- after a little help- and the title was gone but wait... around the next bend Carlos was also admiring the countryside...I opted not to try for second and hoped my position would be good enough and thankfully it was. I needed to beat Carlos here even though I had failed to beat him all season- his fifth place in the race does little justice to his driving skill- I have no doubt he will be an even better driver next season. Speaking of which I look forward to banging wheels with team Lotus with Walter at the wheel. Thank you all for a great season and the mods too. See you next time. John

Great race to finish up the season.
I had a good start from P3 & could keep pace with the leaders. Bastian span in the early laps, moving me to P2. I  slipped back a bit from Johnny & by mid race Carlos had worked his way to third hauling Dave Curtis along with him. Carlos closed up on the right hander at the end of the straight. I gave him a little too much room & watched my team mate nick through in the slip stream. Clearly the team orders had not been properly communicated. I kept the leading pack in view but couldn't get into the tow. Late on, coming over the crest I saw a couple of cars had taken a detour. I was now back in P2 behind DC. He had a bad exit from Moss on the last lap so the finish was rather close.

I didn't realise until I checked the results that Johnny had done just enough to take the championship from Carlos. A well fought battle over the whole season - well done.

Thanks to all the drivers who participated this season & a special thanks to Cookie & Jethro for kindly providing their servers for us to race on.
There were a few connection issues earlier in the season, which might have been as much to do with choice of tracks (Snetteron & Montjuic).

Sorry to have involved you in my incident with Bastian at turn 2, Rog.  I managed to outwrestle a curb, and thought you'd get through safely . . . for about half a second!  I've been notified our officials have been activated.

Incident report published - this bad rejoin rule in my experience, encourages drivers remaining on the official surface, to ignore, or defend against those approaching from an unusual direction.  So I'm pleased to see some recognition of this bad habit, in this case. Cool

Bad rejoin?  I'd under 2 seconds from hitting the curb, to getting 4 wheels back onto the track. Time enough only to keep the nose ahead of the tail.  Loss of control and a spin, would've awarded me a racing incident.  My attempt to prevent this, and prevent a collision with those close behind, gets a bad rejoin?  This simplistic rule badly needs a rethink.

I have done a thunk, and now place it in the think tank, regarding racing rejoins.

There are 2 basic types of rejoin - the current rule is written for only 1/.

1/  The car has spun or hit an object objectionably, and lost it's racing speed.  It has temporarily stopped racing.  Safety considerations for the driver in this situation, are similar to a reset, but without a pre-determined rejoin point.

2/  The car has made an unexpected detour, but keeps most or all of it's speed.  The driver has not stopped racing, but has made his work more difficult.

Conclusion - I suggest an addition or change to the rejoin rule similar to, 'If a rejoining driver has maintained racing speed, care must be used by all drivers, during this manoeuvre.  Safe racing requires racing room.'   Shocked
