Im not sure how they are 'wanna be' race cars.. They were the pinicle of gt cars in the day, much like the old touring cars were..

I dont tgink ac does the f1 justice as it feels very light with the steering and it gives a feeling of no grip, but once you get used to it.. Man.. What a joy!

I suspect it's a combo of the tires feeling like they're made of plastic for the first lap combined with quite a twitchy standard setup  Grin

Got my race setup down to a consistent mid 1:49 lap now (40 odd litres of fuel) while full after some tweeks, curious to see if that can be improved before race night

I'm still stuck on 1:50 on the server. Seems to work best for me on soft springs. If I try stiffening it up its just understeer to oversteer  Undecided
I'm running 3-8 wing though got the same pb with 3-7

1'48.5 now..

i tried it with high wing, low wing, soft, hard, lots of camber, not much camber, high pressures and low pressures and nothing really seems to do any good.

god knows how the guys at the top are doing 1'46's..

ive watched a lot of videos on youtube of the f1 onboard and it just looks so much more stable than our version..

i think the key is to just be smooth and not try to brake really late etc as you just end up sliding off the track.. seems to be a very fine line aswell.. 1 extra metre may be the difference between easily making the corner and ending up in the barrier.

That was my impression too. Can't seem to push it anything like he's doing in the video. Always thought this the sort of car you grab by the scruff of the neck but it's opposite in AC, wants early braking and smooth lines.
Anyone tested hard slicks yet? Do they get enough heat?

I found hard slicks too slow. Even when they were warm they didn't have the pace of the Mediums.
Good if we ever get the numbers for a VLN endurance christmas special race maybe  Wink

Are the videos you found of the current tyre model? It might be something as simple as that?

Low 50`s to mid 49`s on hards and they do not overheat like meds after 5-6 laps.
With meds i can do similar as Chris but, as heat goes up also lap time goes in same direction so in 8th or 9th lap it is low 50`s for me.

Still can`t decide with what to go - faster tires and try to survive second half of race, or slower ones and count on easy mistake on greasy tires from some of you, guys ...  Grin

btw, to see tires behavior i use 2 apps: tire app in game which came with 1.5 update, and psi helper  http://www.assettocorsa.net/forum/index.php?threads/tire-psi-helper-thingamajig-v1-11-bug-fix-2016-4-11.31864/

Lots of drinking first you mean?

Going for the Harrods livery out of that pack you put on the first post - looks really nice on the car  Cool

You pick the skin you want in offline praccy/race then when you join the server it should give you the same skin. (Assuming server has skin pack installed?)
I'm going to be in the Fina car I think  Smiley
