Moderator's Report

Jani dominates the opening round, with pole position, fastest lap & the win. Bastian is second & a podium spot for Ronnie at Monaco.
The majority of drivers saved their tokens & the grid was dominated by Coopers.
There were a number of incidents where drivers ran into trouble & there was a knock on effect as cars tried to recover. Turning a car 180 degrees between the barriers is difficult - whilst trying to stay clear of other cars. Also following drivers came on recovering cars as they exited blind corners, with little time or space. I think some leniency in the moderating is reasonable. When caught in such a position remember that f10 view can be a great help.
All stop & gos were complied with.

Server replay time: 0h01m25s

Billy has a eratic start, loses some paint work on the exit at Casino & runs into D Curtis at the bottom of the hill.
Philippe can\'t avoid contact with the stationary car.

Server replay time: 0h05m15s

Martin is chasing Ronnie hard & goes too deep into Tabac, spinning on the exit. Bastian runs into Martin who is sideways across the road. Martin makes a quick spin recovery but is barely moving when Fran exits Tabac straight into the back of him.

Server replay time: 0h12m10s

Billy gets caught out by Michaels braking point in at Gazometer. Slight contact is enough to leave Michael facing the wrong way in a tight spot. Fran looks for a way around the outside but takes a knock from Michael. Jani also suffers some contact.
Having caused the mayhem Billy retires from the race to write letters of apology.

Season 30 Privateers Trophy – Round 1 – Monaco

Welcome to the opening round of the Works Trophy which will take place on the iconic street circuit at Monaco. Plenty of braking, plenty of gear changes & precious few places to overtake.

Race List = iGOR
Server = UKGPL_8
IP = see iGOR
Race date = Sunday 29-05-16
Time = 21:00 UK time (21:00 GMT)
Track = Monaco
Race length = 33 1aps (50 minutes)
Variant = 1967
60fps patch used   = 60fpsV2newmod
Damage Model = Advanced
Qualifying time = 30 minutes

Replays Available

Driver lists can be found at the Privateers Trophy page

HANDICAPPING
The tokens system remains for all drivers.
In the interest of having a competitive championship the faster drivers are requested to voluntarily select car that suits your ability, from Race 1. If you are consistently qualifying at the front of the grid,  finishing on the podium & recording fastest lap then you should be not be taking a faster car.
The championship will be reviewed after Race 3. Drivers may then be allocated to one of the following handicap groups
Group 1 BRM, Honda, or Cooper,
Group 2 as above + Brabham
Group 3 as above + Ferrari

Drivers are permitted one Reset / Shift R per race, followed by a compulsory Stop & Go within two laps. If you take your reset on the last lap 15 seconds will be added to your time. A second Shift R will result in Disqualification unless it is the direct result of the first incident e.g. hit when respawning.
If you are the first car entering the pit lane to take your SnG aim to bring the car to a halt alongside the last pit stall - closest to the exit. As soon as your car is stationary you can go. You won't be penalised if you stop a little short or beyond the pit stall.
In the event that more than one car takes a SnG at the same time the following cars can perform their Stop & Go in line.
No overtaking in the pit lane.

Until the number of registered drivers exceeds grid capacity drivers may join the server as soon as it appears in IGOR.

Drivers are required to complete 50% distance to score points.

There is no Red Zone for this series, moderating will be on reported incidents only. Please remember that an additional 1 place penalty is awarded for Lap 1 incidents.

Please restrict chat to pit messages including at the end of the race until ALL drivers still racing have crossed the line.

If I correctly understand, it means Eagle and Lotus are forbidden for races 1, 2 and 3 !!??

I need to explain the handicap in more detail. It is difficult to set a handicap before knowing which drivers are going to participate regularly. The tokens system remains so nobody will be able to use the Lotus or Eagle for more than a few races. For races 1, 2 and 3 there is a voluntary handicap. The fastest drivers are requested to take a car which is suitable for their ability compared to other drivers. It won't be perfect but it should mean the series is more competitive for everyone. After three races if it is clear that faster drivers are leading the championship by taking better cars then there will be a compulsory handicap for them. If someone starts off in the BRM and is not competitive they can take a faster car next time.  We have a regular community of drivers at UKGPL and I am hoping the drivers will police themselves. The system of voluntary handicaps worked quite well in the Joe Shaw trophy with different winners for every race.

1) its a bank holiday tomorrow so I don't have to get up
2) Monaco
3) 50% rule
4) I suck

im gunna get drunk instead. not qualify and just cross the s/f line in a brm and use the tokens when I have a chance of some points.

some may question my commitment, lol  Roll Eyes, I would say its picking the battles, honest.  Wink

nice password  Kiss

GLA and grats in advance to finishers, a feat in itself, tell Max and Kimi et al  laugh

I'll be there, but it's a pig of a circuit, which I have never gone negative at, and I've never raced there.  Roll Eyes

Complete mess, just could not control the car properly. After the third contact I decided it was best to quit.

Can't clearly remember who I was involved with. Can only apologize.

For me was not a battle against the walls of Montecarlo but a battle with my PC.I must decide to change it because in track like Monaco or Spa is a tragedy with also some freeze of few seconds.My engine broken is done also in this race but ,despite all this problem,i was able to finish.

It soon became clear when I joined for some practice - during the qually session,  that this was probably going to be a rather short outing.  However,  had the feeling that it would most likely seem to go on for hours and hours...
Luckily I managed to get my reset/stop&go out of the way near the start, so no worrying about full fuel loads later in the race Smiley

Snap!
If it was with a big white whiny thing, between the hairpin & the start/finish line - then that was me.  I don't have a reply to look at,  but apologies for being there at the time place at the same time.
But yes, don't know what happened but the car was hard to control initially.  Once I'd knocked the corners into place, it seemed to handle a little better.

Took the Honda as previously my PB was with that.  However, got nowhere near that.

Unfortunately something happened [hopefully after half distance!].   GPL lost contact with the server & screen froze/GPL crashed/I was kicked out.
Although my DSL remained up, looks as if host response time hit 760ms for approx 1 minute,  but looks like it was my end/connection.  Suspect ADSL upstream maxed out for some reason;  further investigations to take place...

<snip>
im gunna get drunk instead.

Sounds like that would have worked out better!

Unfortunately lost the replay,  but probably just as well.

Congrats all finishers.

Cheers all,
Dave.

Having such a miserable last season I decided to join Privateers (and 1965 Amateurs) this "year".

Monaco is one of my favourite tracks, I had many memorable races here, but I need practice to be on speed. So I was a bit rusty at the beginning of my training. Qual went better and so the race. Still I knocked the fences here and there, but survived both occasion with a bit of luck. Had a few low 27 laps, but never neared my PB...

Thanks all for the race.
Grats finishers!

I have seen the replay with the two incident where my car was involved:Sorry for the bump Martin but your car was invisible for me and the incident unavoidable.

I was having a little problem in Lap 2 when I spun, so I lost some places,
but could fight my way back somehow.
Sorry Dave I Hit you once quite hard but I had time to let you reverse.
Grats to finisher, especially Jani and Ronnie.

No problem for me, I make the problem for you!  My little spin, and I cannot see who comes. I am happy you are Ok.  Next time You must push forwards, and not upside down. Cheesy

Later I have a little motor problem.  For some years no problem with this, but now at Ukgpl a problem.  I take this from you, and give you my good motor.
