The freeze was somewhat unusual as the revs didn't rise but fell slowly and all the while, it was accompanied by constant pitch and volume tyre squeal.

Yep, same here Roll Eyes

Congrats Doni and Mark!

What a shame! Discos everywhere. Tim set fastest race lap in my tow just before he was discoed. It didn't appear I could get away.

Axel likely would have vied for the win without his disco.

It looks like Doni, Dave, Carlos, and Walter all discoed at the same time to leave me alone on the track for the second half of the race. Sad

It looks like it was Doni's race to win. I had doubts I could catch him. I had the gap down to 4.8 seconds at the end of lap 5. I was slowly closing on Doni until I spun at La Carriere on lap 6. I only lost 3.5 seconds but I thought that was enough to give Doni the win. I wasn't going to give up though and I drove the rest of the race as if Doni was still in front of me.

I was handed a win this time. I never slowed down though. I tried to make it appear that I earned it somewhat. Lap 10 was setting up to be a beauty until I ran wide entering the back straight. The last 5 laps I tried to break 3:20 but I always made some mistake losing a few tenths here and there.

It's funny that these laps were so consistent time-wise. They were all rather different.

Lap 11: 3m20.659s
Lap 12: 3m20.649s
Lap 13: 3m20.665s

Apologies to all for the first lap nonsense in Eau Rouge and again after reaching the plateau.  Don't think I did Greg any favours there.  Sorry.  Frames took a hit which made things more than challenging.

I was worried the start could be very ugly especially considering my car is so slow off the line. I wasn't expecting Doni sideways in Eau Rouge. Axel did a excellent job staying off the back of my car. I lost track of you Doni. I saw Mark spin in my mirror and thought it was you. I didn't realize you were beside me until I turned into you. My apologies. I paid for my mistake.

After having trouble with screen freezes at Lemans offline, got me thinking my graphics settings may contribute to some of my discos. I turned down the Anisotrophic Filtering one step to 8 (3 levels). That might help your frame rate Doni.

I was little impatient and since I was faster in qualifying, I passed Axel as quickly as I could. He did another fine job staying off of me into the Kink too. The slide into the Kink overheated my tires. Managing my tires was very difficult with this heavy beast.

Later I got my entry into Blanchimont wrong. Then I had to lift a little more than I wanted to assure I wouldn't hit Doni and I got sideways. Luckily Axel got by without much trouble. I can't say the same for Tim. I apologize Tim. I didn't know what to do. Trying to let the car roll off the track, shut the door on you. Sad I'm glad you could continue.

I got impatient again with Tim. I passed him before the Kink. I'm usually a little more patient but since I qualified better, and I was trying as hard as possible to keep up with Doni. I passed the same as with Axel. Another huge slide through the kink and my tires were scorching again.

I thought this track would give me the highest finish possible with the heavy Lola. I sure didn't expect a win. I'm braking earliest and turning in sooner than with any other car I've driven here. What a crazy ride! There's no way I'd try to drive a real car like I did the Lola. I'd have to have a death wish.

Thanks guys. I wish this event had worked better for everybody else.

I was able to stay on track while following another car. Once I found clean air, I crashed twice in the same lap! I slowed down a little to reduce the mistakes. I had the same screen freeze after Masta. I did enjoy the race and the competition.

Thanks,
WC

I wonder how many of you unfortunates are using the lightest version of the track?  I am, but still can't load the track with this Mod, so missed the chance of a Friday night disco.  Angry

Hi, Martin...  I was just about to post when I got a notification so backed out to read.  I don't know which variant I'm using.  Guess it might pay to make sure that I have the lite version installed as with every join/quit of the server, my frames dive.  If I'm able to glance, when the fps drops, I look to see what's happened.  As it happened, I noted two major shakes to look and see Robert go early and later, Tim.

Great write-up as ever, Greg!  And grats on the win!  I wasn't quite sure what was going on up on the plateau but I know we had a minor sideswipe.  Sorry 'bout that.  I was struggling for control.  Relieved to see that you hung in there.  What an impressive run in the 427 CID Lola!  You've probably sold some members on trying it more often.  Smiley

With about 12m left in qualifying, I left the server to install the virtual mirror option on my works McLaren.  I was fearful of carving up someone trying a pass and as the standard mirrors offer precious little view, it was worth a try.  Not sure if I like them.  Not sure I'll keep them.  I can doctor the 3do somewhat, I think, to offer a slightly better view and may try my hand at it.

How many were outright disco'd/frozen out?  If it was in the majority, I would vote for a re-race as we have in the decision re the Brands GP65 fiasco.  I'd happily risk my P2 placing for another chance at the win.  Smiley

I am using allways the lightest version of the tracks for online racing and never have any framedrops here.
But I was one of the first to have this strange slow freeze Roll Eyes
As my PC has enough grunt to handle evenfull grid 69X here, I checked the OpenHardwareMonitor graphs if something extraordinary had happened, but it showed all normal values...

Hmph.  I shoulda stayed in bed.  No idea how I got awarded 3rd place.  I love this track but I have to say, I don't think I like it much  Cool  Didn't do enough testing with changes to the setup from the last race, car still twitchy as all hell, actively trying to kill me at every corner.  Got nudged off at Eau Rouge and then had a big crash on catching up to other cars into Stavelot.  Reset and managed to put together a few consistent laps but front tyres started to overheat in places.  Finally skidded off and gave up.  Congrats to Greg and commiserations to Doni, Axel, well everyone else really.

Lap 11: 3m20.659s
Lap 12: 3m20.649s
Lap 13: 3m20.665s

Open and merge these laps in GPLRA, then watch the merged replay in GPL and see the differences. Great fun Smiley

No worries Greg, I had loads of time to react and just picked the wrong side is all - not that it made any difference 2 laps later Sad
Like others I also got disco'd during Qually as well, as far as I know I'm on the lightest variant of the track.

Bad luck to Doni on loosing out on the win - and I guess to everyone else as well going by the score sheet!  Shocked

What an impressive run in the 427 CID Lola!  You've probably sold some members on trying it more often.  Smiley

I wouldn't wish that car on any of you. It's not much fun to drive. It keeps me guessing what it's going to do. It always wants to run wide plus it not easy to try to tighten your line once you do. It constantly scorching the left rear tire and often overheating the left front tire. Acceleration is terrible with only a two speed gearbox. Although it only took one hour to find the best gears for me. Making 1st gear carry me from La Source through Eau Rouge worked best overall. I had 2nd gear set for 7000 rpms at 207mph before the Kink. Any time I tried a longer gear to increase my top speed, had me plowing off the track nose first. It's also a car I don't really want to do battle with other cars. Our collision is a good example. Most other cars would have allowed me to accelerate past you after sliding in Eau Rouge.

The only place I enjoyed much, was exiting Les Combes. 1st gear was matched well for that turn. The proper line let me get on the throttle quickly, resulting in a slight yaw while exiting.

actively trying to kill me at every corner.

I felt similar. I was often thinking, this is terrifying! I'm lucky that this seems to be one of my better tracks.

If it was in the majority, I would vote for a re-race as we have in the decision re the Brands GP65 fiasco.  I'd happily risk my P2 placing for another chance at the win.  Smiley

I can't say I want to do it again. I'm relieved to get the heavy Lola out of the way.
