This race will be a rolling start following a formation lap and the procedure is as follows:

*It will be the pole sitter's responsibility to complete the first lap at a pace that allows the rest of the grid to follow comfortably
*There should be no overtaking or hard accelerating/braking
*Drivers should avoid getting too far behind or too close to the driver in front
*Approximately 20 seconds before crossing the start line the pole sitter should slow down to a speed of no more than 50mph (80km/h)
*Each following driver shall close up directly behind the driver in front also maintaining a speed of no more than 50mph (80km/h)
*The pole sitter should maintain that speed until they cross the start line and then accelerate away to start the race (lap2)
*Each following driver should only accelerate when the driver directly ahead does (they do not have to wait until crossing the start line)
*No overtaking is allowed before crossing the start line at the completion of the formation lap

Practice: 20:00 BST (30 mins)
Qualifying: 20:30 (15 mins)
Race: 20:45 ~ 40 Minutes

Cars allowed: Any car from "GTR2" class

Track: Shanghai GP
Time of Day Setting: Afternoon
Weather: Dry

Start: Manual rolling start with formation lap
Tyre wear: x1
Fuel consumption: x1
Pit-stops: None required

Server: Simracing.org.uk
Password: see above
Driver lists can be found on the championship standings page

Notes:
(1) It's best if all drivers can make sure they are connected before the Qualifying session as drivers on track during qualifying will not see
cars that join after they are on track until they go back to the garage.
(2) Please make sure you are fully aware of the SimRacing.org.uk Rules especially the
rules about in-game chat messages.
(3) You will need to install Race Room Racing Experience from Steam, and have the Euro and American Track Packs for this series (And maybe another non pack track occasionally)
(4) Please exercise caution when pitting as some tracks have a speed limit.

(5) Please follow the SROUK guidelines for using kerbs etc. Please keep 2 wheels on the track surface (kerbs do not count as track surface)
Excessive cutting of corners will seen as cheating and the results may be altered to reflect this.

This is the first event in our short summer series of GT2 sprint races. There are 5 races in this series of which the 4 highest scores count towards the championship.

These GTR2 cars are a lot of fun to drive and feel more racey than the GT3 cars. There is likely to be a physics update and possibly more cars joining this class sometime this year so if popular we could include them in our next full season in the autumn.

Good to see you in for this Ant  Cool

I'm a fan of longer races too but feedback from others suggest they are not so popular. Maybe we'll return to the 60 minutes with pitstop format for the autumn.

In the meantime, there is a 50% sale on for all tracks and cars. Here's a checklist for the tracks we'll need for this summer series featuring the GT2 and Silhouette cars:

Mazda Laguna Seca
Brands Hatch Indy
Bathurst
Shanghai
Suzuka GP
Paul Ricard
Monza GP
Spa

Great, Yes GT these cars are a pleasure to drive, more direct and less understeering. I hope the don't take away the setup options in the update due for GT2. But anyway lets see

Hmm, so there is a sale on individual cars at the moment, and I have just about enough vRPs for one GT2 and one GT3 car (plus a couple of extra tracks which I don't yet have). I find the test drive option a bit limited though, and difficult to get to know the individual cars really well - are the GT2s (and GT3s) fairly well matched?

I have all the GT cars except the GT2 Cadillac and I think they're all close enough to not worry. I'm usually quicker in the Rufs but that's because they suit my driving style, having said that I'll probably take the vette or the bimmer for a change in this series.

Thanks. Went for the Caddy, and also picked up a random GT3 car as well to use up my points.

Will try and got on tonight for some practise, I don't think the tracks going to be asy to learn nor the cars! lol. I see the BMW is popular, but was already thinking about using it.

I think the cars are very even. I was actually a few hundredths quicker here in the Ruf than I was in the BMW but leaderboard didn't register the time for some reason. I checked the leaderboards for the other tracks in the series and no car seems to be dominant.
