Moderator's Report

The first lap had a few incidents. Six cars were involved, and two cars retired early. The drivers that finished the first lap unscathed had a nice advantage. Tim and Tristan had an excellent battle for first place for the first 15 laps. An incident between the leaders gave the lead to Sam, and he never looked back. Unfortunately, several drivers had a disco on lap 32. Jani was able to finish in second place and Bastian third. Congrats to the winner and the Podium! Tristan had the fastest lap. David Rainier was the highest climber.

Lap 1 - Dean knew that he would be overtaken in the corner. Dean stays all the way to the right. Donni moves from his side of track into Dean near the apex of the corner. Clive is following, and can not avoid Dean. Dean and Clive rejoin, but Donni retires.

Simple Side by Side contact: Normal Penalty 1 Place - In a corner, after a legitimate overtaking attempt the cars end up side by side. One driver moves over instead of staying on their own side of the track. Contact is made. Penalty for driver that moves over. The moderator decided to reduce the penalty to a warning since Donni\'s suffered severe damage, and then he retired.

Lap 1 - Clive rejoins after the previous incident. Clive reports that he checked his pribluda, but it was showing the same cars as being ahead AND behind him??!! The next car was 300+yds back so Clive eased back onto the tarmac. (It looked to the moderator as though he had wheelspin which caused him to rejoin more abruptly.) Suddenly there were 2 cars 25yds behind just a second later. Axel was unable to avoid Clive. Clive offers his apologies to Axel. Clive is able to continue, but Axel retires.

Blatant Bad Rejoin: Normal Penalty 2 Places - The rejoining driver was NOT in full control but nevertheless attempted to drive straight back onto the racing line without any consideration for other drivers and contact was made.

Lap 4 - Dean got in too close to Ronnie. Dean thought that Ronnie knew that he was there. Unfortunately, there was not enough space. Dean admits fault and apologizes.

Simple Ambitious Overtake: Penalty 1 Place - The overtaking car had NOT achieved a 50% or greater overlap at the point of turn-in. There was no loss of control by either driver. Penalty for overtaking driver.

Lap 4 - Bastian had followed David R. for one lap. David went wide at the exit of Old Paddock Bend corner, and two of his wheels went on to the grass. David eased off of throttle to keep control. Bastian was not expecting David to lift at that moment. Bastian is unable to avoid David, and he rear ends his car.

Simple Rear End Shunt: Penalty 1 Place - The shunter had followed the victim for a lap or two before hand. The victim had partially lost control before contact and consequently his line was unusual. The shunter was in full control. In all cases, the following car is responsible for maintaining a safe gap and the driver needs to be cognizant of the possibility of the lead car slowing for no apparent reason.

Lap 4 - Bastian is rejoining the track after the previous incident. Fran and Dean are going past Bastian on the left hand side. Fran slows on the straight to overtake Bastian with caution. Dean was focusing on staying to the left of the rejoining car, and he did not realize that Fran had backed off more than normal. Dean rearends Fran.

Avoidable Rear End Shunt: Caution - The victim slowed unexpectedly and the shunter was too close to take avoiding action.

Lap 9 - Dean performs a shift - R. He does not do a stop and go within two laps. Dean was concentrating on letting the leaders pass safely, and he was unfamiliar with the track. Dean does perform a late stop and go a few laps later. Unfortunately, there is no reduction of the penalty for a late Stop and Go.

No Stop n Go within 2 laps = DQ according to the Formula Two Trophy championship page.

Lap 6 - Query Corner - Turn 3 - Fran lost it under braking, had a tank slapper. Fran spins and Roo was unable to avoid.

Lap 6 - Query Corner - After incident with Roo, Fran does not notice Peterson is arriving. Fran has a bad rejoin, and Peterson can not avoid. Peterson says that Fran reported himself and apologized in the forum. A true mark of a gentleman, and he prefer no penalty is given.

Blatant Bad Rejoin: Normal Penalty 2 Places - The rejoining driver drove straight back onto the track, but not the racing line, without checking for other cars and contact was made.

UKGPL SEASON 30 F2 CHAMPIONSHIP – Round 2 : Castle Combe
Round 2 will be staged at Castle Combe, a short fast track with some tricky corners.  

Drivers will have a free car choice
BUT
Each car can be driven only once in this season!

I was fairly happy to be back on the podium after Tris lost it at Tower and knocked us both way back down the field (Thanks for attempting to extricate me Tris) only to get a screen freeze with about 15/16 to go  cursing

Congrats to anyone left racing and I guess to Sam who I think was leading before my untimely exit.

Hopefully Spa will be kinder on me...

Screen freeze same time Tim  :'(

Before that some good racing with David R, Fran and Dean (briefly), while trying to also let the leaders through.

But before that things were not so much fun. I know its a short lap and tight in places with just one line but you have just got to be patient, some were not.

Some corner cutting to make passes? Bad recoveries and rejoins with little thought for others? Late breaking and using the car in front to slow down?

No incident reports from me but can everyone be a little more careful and considerate next time out (me included).

Regardless good luck to everyone still running, nice drive in the Ferrari Clive, I'm rooting for you!

That was an unexpected win. Hard luck to everyone that suffered a screen freeze and to those caught up in various incidents.

My race was extremely dull in comparison. Didn't have to pace to challenge Trist or Tim so found myself comfortably in 3rd running my own race. Then after Tim & Trist's unfortunate coming together I found myself with a very fortunate lead. Towards the end Trist was catching me at a second a lap which would have led to a close finish but sadly the screen freezes paid to that. From then on it was cruise to the flag, though I did make life difficult for myself and span once at Tower  Wink.

Congrats to Jani and Bastian for rounding the podium. See you all at the next one.

I was installing a new machine with more FF and didn't get pribluda to work, so its a great result for me.
I rammed a white car,...whoever it was...sorry, was trying to get out of the tow too late.

Grats to Samb and Jani and the other survivors...sorry for the disco guys...

p.s. my other joins are because of techincal issues, just got it too work somehow with 6 min to go in qualifying

Thanks Ray, i was quite chuffed with my pace in that Ferrari  Grin and despite getting tagged by other incidents in the first few laps and dropping to last place I had worked my way up to 5th ( helped by quite a few "offs" ahead. but just when I was hoping to cruise in and collect some nice shiny points...I got the screen freeze too!! It looks like several cars were booted at the same time.  Undecided

grats to Sam and the podium.

My prib was having a headfit during the race, the same cars were showing as being ahead AND behind me??!!  
When I rejoin, i always check prib for a gap and don't rely on mirrors. The next car was 300+yds back so I eased back onto the tarmac..suddenly there were 2 cars 25yds behind just a second later. My apologies to whoever that was.  Sad

After the technical problems with 36fps at the GPL Racer event, things ran smoothly here with 60fps.

But I made a mistake in T3 & ended lap 1 at the back. Then I was caught out by someone braking more than expected & I spun avoiding contact.
Next I didn't back out of an overtake on Francesco early enough, he turned in & our wheels touched (gpl collision detection?)
Finally I was pressuring Francesco again when he lost the back end under braking for T3, had a tank slapper & I had nowhere to go.

I decided to retire at this point, the end of a frustrating evening.

Grats to podium, thanks to the admins.

Found my old "consistency helmet" and after I avoided all the troubles in the first laps (and screen freezes), I drove a solid race to a podium finish.
