Congrats Doni and Mark!
What a shame! Discos everywhere. Tim set fastest race lap in my tow just before he was discoed. It didn't appear I could get away.
Axel likely would have vied for the win without his disco.
It looks like Doni, Dave, Carlos, and Walter all discoed at the same time to leave me alone on the track for the second half of the race.
It looks like it was Doni's race to win. I had doubts I could catch him. I had the gap down to 4.8 seconds at the end of lap 5. I was slowly closing on Doni until I spun at La Carriere on lap 6. I only lost 3.5 seconds but I thought that was enough to give Doni the win. I wasn't going to give up though and I drove the rest of the race as if Doni was still in front of me.
I was handed a win this time. I never slowed down though. I tried to make it appear that I earned it somewhat. Lap 10 was setting up to be a beauty until I ran wide entering the back straight. The last 5 laps I tried to break 3:20 but I always made some mistake losing a few tenths here and there.
It's funny that these laps were so consistent time-wise. They were all rather different.
Lap 11: 3m20.659s
Lap 12: 3m20.649s
Lap 13: 3m20.665s
Apologies to all for the first lap nonsense in Eau Rouge and again after reaching the plateau. Don't think I did Greg any favours there. Sorry. Frames took a hit which made things more than challenging.
I was worried the start could be very ugly especially considering my car is so slow off the line. I wasn't expecting Doni sideways in Eau Rouge. Axel did a excellent job staying off the back of my car. I lost track of you Doni. I saw Mark spin in my mirror and thought it was you. I didn't realize you were beside me until I turned into you. My apologies. I paid for my mistake.
After having trouble with screen freezes at Lemans offline, got me thinking my graphics settings may contribute to some of my discos. I turned down the Anisotrophic Filtering one step to 8 (3 levels). That might help your frame rate Doni.
I was little impatient and since I was faster in qualifying, I passed Axel as quickly as I could. He did another fine job staying off of me into the Kink too. The slide into the Kink overheated my tires. Managing my tires was very difficult with this heavy beast.
Later I got my entry into Blanchimont wrong. Then I had to lift a little more than I wanted to assure I wouldn't hit Doni and I got sideways. Luckily Axel got by without much trouble. I can't say the same for Tim. I apologize Tim. I didn't know what to do. Trying to let the car roll off the track, shut the door on you.
I'm glad you could continue.
I got impatient again with Tim. I passed him before the Kink. I'm usually a little more patient but since I qualified better, and I was trying as hard as possible to keep up with Doni. I passed the same as with Axel. Another huge slide through the kink and my tires were scorching again.
I thought this track would give me the highest finish possible with the heavy Lola. I sure didn't expect a win. I'm braking earliest and turning in sooner than with any other car I've driven here. What a crazy ride! There's no way I'd try to drive a real car like I did the Lola. I'd have to have a death wish.
Thanks guys. I wish this event had worked better for everybody else.
