Moderator's Report

SUMMARY

Philippe Girard inherits the win when Gareth Hall -who started from Pole and led for the first 30 laps, also setting the fastest lap- suffered from electrical problems. Mike James finishes an excellent second, and Jani Posta rounds out the podium. Congratulations to the podium, and commiserations to Gareth, and the other retirements.

I have seen a few incidents, that were not reported. These will not be moderated.

Dave Curtis reports he was not scored anymore by the server after 9 laps. He was not kicked by the server, but hardly appeared until he reappeared after about 2/3 of the race distance. It is impossible to say how many laps he completed, but it is fair to say he completed more laps than Gareth. Therefore I have decided to reinstate Dave since he finished the race.

Server replay time: 0h10m32s

Dave Rainier reports he lost a lot of trackposition and time after Bernie Darwin -who had spun- reversed a bit and then went forward. Dave had to make avoiding action and was stuck in between the wall and Bernie.

Bernie argues Dave could have slowed more and take the utmost inside of Pont Oscar, where the incident occurred. Bernie was not aware what happened during the race.

Dave got waved yellow flags, and he certainly slowed. But when Bernie reversed, Dave steered to the right trying to avoid Bernie, just when Bernie went forward again. This meant Dave lost a lot of trackposition and a better result. Dave did nothing wrong, he simply was unlucky. Bernie was not aware of Dave, and the topography of the track did not help, plus the nature of the spin and position of Bernie. Using pribluda for trackposition of cars could have helped to avoid this situation, being aware of where Dave was.

Inconsiderate Bad Rejoin: Penalty 1 Places - The rejoining driver was in full control but nevertheless drove straight back onto the track without leaving enough room for other cars. Contact was NOT made but other drivers had to take avoiding action.

Server replay time: 0h41m21s

Rick fails to take a Stop & Go within 2 laps after he does a reset. The division rules say this means a DQ. See the championship page for specific division rules. Also the racepost states you have to do a S&G within 2 laps after the reset.

  • Rick65 — Failing to take Stop & Go after Shift-R — excluded

Server replay time: 0h49m31s

Bernie resets in the last lap, and chooses not to do his Stop & Go. The UKGPL rules page says:

If a driver makes a shift-R on the last lap then, depending on the layout of the pit lane and position of the finish line, it may be possible for a driver to take the Stop and Go at the end of the last lap and cross the finish line in the pit lane. If this is not possible or the driver elects not to do it then the moderator may apply a reduced time penalty (normally 15 seconds) on the basis that the driver did not have sufficient opportunity to perform the Stop and Go.

Season 30 Amateurs Trophy – Round 2 – Pau

The Pau Grand Prix (French: Grand Prix de Pau) is a motor race held in Pau, in the Pyrénées-Atlantiques department of southwestern France. The French Grand Prix was held at Pau in 1930, leading to the annual Pau Grand Prix being inaugurated in 1933. It was not run during World War II.

The race takes place around the centre of the city, where the streets are closed to form a circuit, and its 68 runnings have variously conformed to the rules of Grand Prix racing and Formula One, Formula Two and Formula 3000, Formula Three, Formula Libre, sports car racing, and touring car racing.

The winningest driver at Pau is Jim Clark, with 4 wins.

Hehe! In my opinion it's on the same difficulty level, we just don't have the same amount of experience like in Monaco.

I have no idea why you have that problem Bernie, do you have this problem only at Pau? Did you try to reinstall the track? Hope you can solve it.

had same prob a few times. usually a windows error msg or similar behind the scenes

edit: a click of the mouse anywhere, will select the gpl window and return it the front. so no need to exit via task manager

I have lost sound in game after bumping the "windows key" on the keyboard. (Windows 7) I had to pull over to the side of the track to press cntrl + Alt + Del to open task manager. Then close any pop ups, and return to the race.

I am using W10 now, and it does not minimize the game when I press cntrl alt del. I have had some difficulty exiting GPL after screen freezes.

Okay downloaded and installed did 20 laps and agree this track is a twister, and i must be damn slow here the Ai are faster than me.

Re sound problem used to have that, found the cause was my anti virus program now use Avast with silent gaming mode ticked.

Couldn't work out this track. Knocked off a wheel about the time Gareth was about to lap me & decided that I would just get in the way if I took a reset.

Sorry to hear that Gareth, it may be a by-product of 60fps that it perhaps shows up disconnects more on some tracks than others.

Really enjoyed my comeback race after a few years away and very happy with second.

Ran closely with bagrupp and Rog for a while and Rog was buzzing about behind me for a few laps while I had a bit too much heat in my front tyres and couldn't push and pull away.

Ended up running on my own for most of the second half of the race but kept concentration and kept it pointing the right way.

Bernie was very accomodating when I lapped him, going so far as to crash and spin to let me past. Typical pie eater.

Good track with a great flow but I wish the last chicane was a bit wider.

I don't understand what happened,  Rick.  You were leader of the race, vers fast.  Impossible for me to return to your wheels.  I was very concentrated,  until the final lap,  not to make any mistake,  and I Did not realize I had won  !
Bastian made me very afraid during the first part of the race,  because your were very fast, and I thought you would eventually overtake.
Congratulations to all finishers,  thank you to the organizers.

P4 looked okay to start from, then I misjudged a few manouvers in the first laps and I was down to dead last... It took quite a few laps to regain positions, then I was lapping in P7 for the most part of the race. Others' misfortune gave me another few positions then Gareth's disco promoted me to podium. Something I did not really expect in lap 3. I tried to save some fuel in the last laps, as it seemed I would run out of it just before the finish... Luckily I had enough for a personal best laptime in the last lap, which helped me to hold my position against Bastian.

Congrats to the winner! Thanks all for the race. Sorry to all who suffered from my driving Sad
