Axel if the rule is to leave track to the stronger pilots we can do the qualifications and stop any race.
Of course there is no rule to avoid an unnecessary defense Grin
But if you calculate the benefits of doing it, it would be possible to stay close and catch a slower Cooper to the finish line in the last lap.

Some time seem to me that some pilots at UKGPL are perfect, they never do error and his maneuvers are always correct, if an incident happen is a racing incident.
Nobody is perfect, but it seems that there are some people not happy with your tactics of defending...

I like close battling and Monza is one of the best tracks to do so.  Shame my PC stopped in one of them...

No worries Fran, always happy to race with you  thumbup2 . I actually agree with you and Ronnie, I can remember sometimes me and Ronnie could have a bit of a row over defending your position too fiercely, but as I've grown older I understand it's a part of racing. And it makes for the best overtakes Smiley . Also by writing this I'm also covering my ass when I'm cheering on Verstappen when he's trying to keep a Mercedes or Raikkonen behind him again, so it's two birds with one stone Grin .

Why do you think I make the handicap in this race?

It seems my understanding of fair racing is old fashioned.

For me the aera of gentlemen racing in F1 ended 1992 in Monaco.
Before that race the drivers drove respectfull and had allways in their mind that it could be the last race for everyone of them.

I thought the GPL community does not only use the contemporary cars,
but also wants to have the feeling of the racing spirit in those days.

I would say Suzuka 1990...

Interesting, surely you don't mean Senna holding off Mansell to win the race?

My first outing in the GT's for quite a while. Grats to all those fast boys up front, I will need a few hours practice to regain some serious pace in these beasts.

Guessed that the Chapps would be quickest, quite surprised at how fast the Fezas were around a high speed circuit like Monza...nice driving guys!

I had already decided on the Mk2 tank and was pleased that a few others had taken that option.

I dragged an old setup out from under the bed, blew the dust off and promptly discovered that it was rubbish!!!!

Qually was a case of applying a few tweaks and trying to find a way to drive what I had without melting the left rear tyre. I got the feeling that if I could only cure some of the instability on turn in I could get amongst those Fezzas, but I ran out of time before the race start.

For the first couple of laps I held on to Ronnie's 2D as the tyres warmed up, but then pushed too hard into Lesmo 1 and I had Doni for company in his Mk2.

The rest of the race was a  great battle between Doni and myself, interspersed with various "incidents". Until I realised that my fuel was marginal and I tried a quick pit stop at approx. 180mph! Arnold and Mabel through a bucket full of fuel at me as I passed through the pits, missed the fuel filler and filled the cockpit instead!  Blinded, I clipped the Armco on the exit and performed an elegant half spin to face a following Doni before completing the performance by bursting into flames!!
Massive fun whilst it lasted, sorry I screwed up Doni......would have been a close finish I think  Grin

Francesco has painted some of the 1955 Grand Prix cars, which are now coming along nicely.  I've seen most of them over the years, and have helped get them modified, from inaccurate old photo's, to perfect state-of-the-art machinery, brand new and ready to race.  Not just yet, but enough talent has been found, to bring this new Mod to the finish line.  It will be different, and it will be good. Grin

Hi Martin, great to hear you have been busy and big thanks for your work and the rest of the team on the 55 mod.

Fran, thank you very much for the PM update on the status of the 55 mod and the varied efforts of the team involved. I am really looking forward to driving this one when its finished.

I hope to see you both on track soon.

I know that building these mods takes time and considerable effort, but of all the extra cars that we have been promised and given since GPL was launched, I think the 55 mod is the one that I have been waiting for.

It must be about 8-9 years since someone first raised the possibility of creating the 55 cars and from time to time we got hints about its progress, or that it had been dropped, or suffered a setback.

Thanks guys for keeping the dream alive .

Unfortunate our Sim is such a struggle to modify.  Completion is always much later than hoped for, as all the volunteered parts must first come together, and then work together.

I hope to see you both on track soon.

Maybe that the GT is the mod that have waited more before to view the light.Seem that my enter in UKGPL years ago have given a move to this mod.
Than there is the CA66.My work was finished in 2010 but only Tommie  has given the big push to finish it.
Now, on the 55,there is Lee that absolutily want the mod ready before the end of the year. Each guy have done is part, the mod is in testing and the interesting feature is the patch "brake fade".If you use the brake to strong they don't work anymore. There are 3 lights color for this ,green:ok,yellow warning, red no brake.
