Moderator's Report

SUMMARY
The usual slip streaming antics at Spa provided Sam Blood the opportunity to get the better of Piero and claim the win with Cookie securing third place on the podium.

Server replay time: 0h01m20s

Lap 1 - Les Combes - Bastian Grupp and Dean Logan

Bastian is on the normal racing line on the entry to Les Combes with Dean following a couple of car lengths back. As Bastian brakes, Dean appears to make a half hearted attempt to take the inside line but he drifts wide into Bastian. Bastian retires from the race but Dean can continue.

Bastian did nothing wrong.

Dean must have lost concentration or been distracted? There doesn\'t appear to be any reason why such an experienced and capable driver should make such an elementary mistake. The responsibility for the incident must lie with Dean.

Season 30 Historics Trophy – Round 2 – Spa

PLEASE READ THIS ANNOUCEMENT
Unfortunately we have not had a divisional moderator for this series. Thanks to David Rainier for posting Race 1. I will be taking over duties temporarily & there will be a small variation in the Handicap system to get a wider range of cars on the grid to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the 1966 championship. Races will be 3 Litre OR 2 Litre events. BUT for 3L events drivers can take any car = 3L or 2L. For 2Lraces Pro / Works drivers can take any 2L car and the Amateur / Privateers drivers can take any car – including any 3Lcar. Fairly simple. Please check the choice for each race. 3 Litre cars will be used on the faster circuits. Ideally this system would have been in place for the whole season, but I trust you will understand matters. (Monaco would have been a 2L race).

For this season season we are following the original 1966 calendar, so Round 2 is Spa. This is the original Papyrus version not the new Spa 67. Any driver who completes the season will have a GPL rank time for 66s.

Race List = iGOR
Server = To be advised.
IP = see iGOR
Race date = Sunday 19-06-2016
Time = 21:00 UK time (21:00 GMT)
Track = Spa (Papyrus original)
Race length = 13 1aps (50 minutes)
Variant = 1966 (3 Liters cars only)
60fps patch used   = 60fpsV2newmod
Damage Model = Pro
Qualifying time = 30 minutes
Replays Available here

Driver lists and token rules can be found on the championship standings page

HANDICAPPING
See above.

The full time drivers can start to practice as soon as the server is available.  Reserve drivers can also join as soon as the server becomes available but must leave the server with 35 minutes of qualifying left, for a total of 5 minutes; this will allow any remaining full timers to join.  If there is enough space on the grid, the reserve drivers will be able to rejoin when there are 30 mins of qualifying left.  .

Drivers are required to complete 50% distance to score points.

There is no Red Zone for this series, moderating will be on reported incidents only. Please remember that an additional 1 place penalty is awarded for Lap 1 incidents.

Please restrict chat to pit messages including at the end of the race until ALL drivers still racing have crossed the line.

Just to clarify has all the stuff about "drivers will have to select a different chassis for each race and at least one from each group" gone out the window? In other words can we drive the same car in different races?

Ronnie - correct. As a Pro / Works driver your only restriction is having to use a 2L car at 2L races.

David,
Yes the old one - in case anyone wants / needs the to get GPL rank time for the 66 cars.
New Spa 67 has been used quite heavily since it was released - make a change to use the original.

Ronnie,
Thanks for the head up on the Rainbow gig. I did check if there were tickets for the UK gig, but I think it was sold out before going on sale.

If you come across an official DVD on sale - can you drop me PM to remind me.

Thanks ... Bill

I'm confused. For me the "drivers will have to select a different chassis for each race" sentence clear you can't run the same car in two races.

Bastian - that bit does not apply. As a Privateer you can drive any car you like for every race & use the same car as many times as you like.

Sorry to Bastian for Les Combes lap 1, you slowed sooner and a lot more than I expected or was necessarySad

Some ludicrously aggressive driving from Andreas and Ray on the first lap means I get to sit down early to dinner.  Thanks, pals!

Sorry if it seemed or was like that Doni. Genuinely not here to ruin anyones race and was just going for a gap when I felt you left one. Better luck next time and don't rush the food, you will get indigestion. Regardless apologies again and I promise to be more patient for a lap or two when next in your mirrors. Only the once mind  Cool

On the general subject of aggressive driving I commented on this after the last F2 race at Castle Coombe. Unfortunately while I can try and cool it a bit myself I have no control over others, particularly those who don't even think they are sometimes a problem and no I'm not pointing the finger at anyone in particular.

Always nice to bag another win  Smiley. My race was pretty straight forward. I was lucky to remain 2nd after a poor getaway from the grid. Spent the first few laps chasing Piero, aided with the generous tow and Ferrari power. Eventually I made my move on lap 3, passing him on the run down to Blanchimont. From there it was a case of trying to get enough of a lead so Piero couldn't use the slipstream and running my own race to the flag.

Congrats to all finishers and commiserations to those that ran into trouble. See you all at the next one.

 A track like Spa you must overtake on the straight, not on the turn Undecided
