yep I am correct  Grin I just did it to make sure.

Thermalito was Legzy's fave track if I remember, it has some very tight bits, that I think would be
masochism with these cars. I will give it a whirl and report back sir.

@Huggy
Join the practice server, and then move it on to the next session until it goes to "race"
then see if you can join the race on your own?

Thanks for the tips chaps.
Yes, that certainly works on the current (CanAm) practice server.  But how would it work during an actual event? I mean, one would just press the "race" button normally, with this or any other sim, which is usually OK, and if that's when you find you can't get in, it's too late to do anything else, you're locked out. Going to "call next race" can only be done by the Admin, surely?   Sorry to be a pain, but if anyone has anything to add, I'll be grateful.

Well, a catalogue of errors from me, a few weeks practising, circulating in the high 1:17's never have any problems with the landings after the jumps etc but tonight it was like someone had given me someone else's car. sequences which I took with style and grace tonight became a lottery as to how the car would react on landing. After the 4th serious off I got stuck trying to rejoin, glanced left and saw Ziu approaching fast so hit esc and went and shouted at the cat.

Funny you said that Jeep, I also seemed to have similar trouble on the server which I didn't have in offline practice. It was particularly a problem through the final ess-bends before the pits, I could take those nearly flat out offline but when I tried online the car just flew sideways on landing, so I had to lift off over the bump going in & make sure the car was straight before getting back on the gas.

Having said that I was never comfortable on this track offline, never got below 1.19, which I did manage both in qually & the race. I guess my setup was way off. However I just drove a steady, careful race & was rewarded with 3rd place due to others misfortunes. Had 3 'moments', first when Jeep went off early on & his car came back across the track in front of me, I glanced off it but fortunately stayed on track. Then late on had to take avoiding action when Roger spun in the final esses & hit the guard rail in front of the grandstand, again luckily stayed on track. Finally on the last lap I got the esses on the back straight wrong & spun it, was far enough ahead of Clive that I held on to my position.

Congrats to Erling & Matt & all who made it to the end.  clap clap clap

Ziu, don't take everything so seriously, I know its annoying when this sort of thing happens, but there is no need to quit because of it. I had a similar problem about 4 years ago, turned out it was my router that was the problem, kept momentarily switching off & losing my connection to the server.

Tony, Thermalito is not a bad track, does have some tight bits in which the Mustang could be a handful.

Huggy.
If you move the event on from chat, the server just goes to the race, you still have to join it
the same as you would on race night, there will only be you on the grid, but the steps are the same
Perhaps if someone is able to join the test server with you they could moive it on and see that you
can also go to the grid?
I can do that today if you like? suggest a time in the next hour or so and I will get on the server

If you get locked out again I will be very suprised. Just keep an eye on that countdown clock. We advise drivers to finish their qualy before the qualy time runs out. Make any final preperation/tweaks, then join the grid as soon as the countdown starts. If your Engine % seems on the low side, hit Esc and enter the grid again and repeat until you have a good healthy Engine %. But keep an eye on the countdown mind.

OK thanks for the last two replies gents;  I got that you still need to hit the race button to get on the grid (which I did on the practice server), so I guess we'll see what's what next week, then if all goes well I guess it should be OK for the BSCC round in a couple of weeks. I'm pretty sure I didn't miss the timer, Tony  - I usually go as soon as the session is ready - and I'm 99% sure my router wasn't to blame, as I was still connected after the lock-out, so I guess it was just one of those things. Fingers crossed for next time, but if I happen to do a practice session when one of you guys is on, we'll have a go at what Matt suggested and try a "move on", if that's OK.  Cheers.

Strange thing was, your car is visible on the grid in the replay  Huh

I think that if it happened again I would hit Esc and try to enter again.

Now that IS weird!  I pressed "race" the first time, the car was in the garage, did Esc, and the same. No other cars or sound anywhere. Then left the track and tried to re-enter, too late, race under way. I wondered how come I was classified as having raced but completed no laps, if it showed on grid (which it didn't at my end) I guess that would explain it.  Most peculiar. alien scared

Hi Huggy,
Other than tonight I can be available almost all evenings from around 8pm (UK). If you can arrange a time when others can make it just for a short while to push the server through to "race" drop an IM or post here and I'll be sure to join unless something unforeseen comes up.

OK thanks, either this evening (Wed) or tomorrow would be good, I'll get on the CanAm practice server just after 8 and see, hopefully we'll nail it Smiley
