Season 30 Works Trophy – Round 4 – Estoril

Welcome back to GPL racing from the summer break. The summer football tournament was won by Portugal so rather coincidental that we visit that country for Round 4. the track has a modern layout, having hosted the Portuguese grand prix from 1984 to 1996. The lap record is held by Britain’s Damon Hill. We won’t get anywhere  near 1,14 with the 67 cars but it will be good to get back to racing.

Race List = iGOR
Server = UKGPL_9
IP = see iGOR
Race date = Sunday 14-08-16
Time = 21:00 UK time (21:00 GMT)
Track = Estoril
Race length = 27 1aps (50 minutes)
Variant = 1967
60fps patch used   = 60fpsV2newmod
Damage Model = Pro
Qualifying time = 30 minutes

Replays Available
Special Note – I am having great difficulty downloading the replays from the temporary site – Sendspace. As such there will be some delays in publishing the moderation reports from some races.

Driver lists can be found at the
Works Trophy Page

HANDICAPPING
The tokens system remains for all drivers.
In the interest of having a competitive championship the faster drivers are requested to voluntarily select car that suits your ability. If you are consistently qualifying at the front of the grid,  finishing on the podium & recording fastest lap then you should be not be taking a faster car.
The championship will be reviewed after Race 3. Drivers may then be allocated to one of the following handicap groups
Group 1 BRM, Honda, or Cooper,
Group 2 as above + Brabham
Group 3 as above + Ferrari
Results from the first three races have been rather mixed so no handicap will apply for Round 4.

Until the number of registered drivers exceeds grid capacity drivers may join the server as soon as it appears in IGOR.

Drivers are required to complete 50% distance to score points.

There is no Red Zone for this series, moderating will be on reported incidents only. Please remember that an additional 1 place penalty is awarded for Lap 1 incidents.

Please restrict chat to pit messages including at the end of the race until ALL drivers still racing have crossed the line.

Have to skip this race. I'm a wreck right now. It has nothing to do with UKGPL or missing the first 3 races of this championship. Had done some recon and basic practise earlier this week. Jani knows.

Had a total meltdown yesterday and it felt like quitting online racing again...just like in 2007...again, my emotions got the better of me...it happens sometimes...just need some time to get the motivation back. Have a good race all! Smiley

It's not a 1967 track, Robert.  Drivers would have called this a 'Mickey Mouse' track when our cars were new.  Anyone know why this name especially?   No chance to enjoy the scenery.  So you are in tune with the drivers, and the period we race in.   surrender

Hope to see you soon on track Rob and get on top of your demons  Smiley.

As for my race. Internet problems with 2 minutes to go in qualifying....... managed to join with seconds to spare, only for the steering wheel to not work  censored.

Good luck to all for the race  Smiley.

Screen lock just as I exited the last corner on Lap03.  I believe that Pelle had one in Q in a similar location.

I see only a couple left on the server so it's probably been a mass FUBAR.

Re-run immediately?  I'm game.

Sorry to hear of your troubles, Rob. Hope you're feeling better soon.

My race? Well, I do not like this track in 67s (couple of corners just too tight and fiddly) but was fairly comfortable (if slow), at least until "Grand Prix Legends has stopped working. Windows is searching for a solution..." popped up about 4 laps in. I _never_ saw that in Win7, just black screen (usually with sound looping) or kicked back to iGOR?! Any ideas, O great gurus of GPL?

GL to those still running.

edit: mass disco or server crash, evidently.

Gents, not entirely sure but looks a partial repeat of the first Riverside race. It's deadlocked somehow and am trying to get on it to get logs but am struggling. We ran Estoril successfully in S25 but that was without 60fps patch.

I suspect something's gone wrong with your server Jethro or the internet near the server's location.

I've not had any real trouble with oAo, Geli, or UKGPL_8 except on tracks that are known to be troublesome.

That's a shame considering I get one of the lowest latencies to Europe on your server.

Sorry for the mass disco yesterday, obviously we will reschedule this round later in the season.
It is infortunate we have had problems at both Riverside & Estoril. Jethtro's server has run all the 65 Amateurs races without problem. The next round is at Mosport which is a standard Papyrus track. I suggest we use UKGPL 9 for the  Works race at Mosport & swap 8 & 9 for the following races.

Looks like I did not miss too much   Undecided Sorry to hear about the technical gremlins.

A mild bout of food poisoning over the weekend left me feeling a little frail, so I gave this race a "pass". Maybe I will be recovered for the rerun. Wink
