CanAm 66 Trophy race 4 at Bridgehampton v1.01

Celebrating the new 1966 CanAm mod and its 50th year anniversary at Bridgehampton.

Bridgehampton. Not one we have used much. The circuit opened in 1957, following a series of road races held from 1949 until 1953. It was one of the first permanent road racing venues in the United States, opening after Thompson Speedway, two years after Road America, the year after Watkins Glen International, and the same year as Lime Rock Park and Laguna Seca Raceway. In its early years, Bridgehampton was host to major international series, including the World Sportscar Championship, Can-Am, and NASCAR Grand National. By the early 1970s, the track was used mostly for amateur events, and closed permanently in 1998.

Congrats Carlos and Axel! Bridgehampton is one tough nut to crack! Carlos drove fast and consistent enough for a well deserved win.

We had a small field today. Sad Not enough masochists looking for some pain.  laugh

I've driven the track a fair amount. It still has me confused. It's going to take a long time to learn how to do fast consistent laps here.

I had chance to win if I were a little better prepared and more consistent. I handicapped myself a little by changing my differential ratio near the end of qualifying and forgetting to change it back before the race. I miscalculated my fuel load too. It looked like I would finish about the time the engine shut off even after driving to save fuel at times. It didn't matter though when I rolled the car with a little less than 2 laps to go. I didn't reset thinking it was the last lap.

I should try a little practicing with the AI for future races. I've got a lot to learn about driving these cars in the tow. I lost it too many times when I got close to Carlos.

Thanks guys. It was good fun.

You know that some people are different
Now ain't that a crying shame
Now wouldn't it be a real drag if we were all the same

I missed the race because I sold my 2000 Ford Mustang, and I had to go to the courthouse to transfer the title.
