Season 30 Amateurs Trophy – Round 4 – Mexico

We continue the season at Mexico's Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez, a 2.786 mile race track in Mexico City, Mexico. This is the Papyrus track, loved and hated in equal measures. Scourge of the racer's lines are those polo tyres, sure to trip you up should you stray off course.

Race List = iGOR
Server = UKGPL_9
IP = see iGOR
Race date = Tuesday 23-08-16
Time = 21:00 UK time (21:00 GMT)
Track = Papyrus Original
Race length = 26 laps (45-50 minutes)
Variant = 1965
60fps patch used   = 60fpsV2newmod
Damage Model = Int
Qualifying time = 30-45 minutes

Only ONE reset per race will be allowed followed by a compulsory Stop & Go in the pit stall area, within 2 laps. Failing to do so will lead to exclusion!

Replays Available here: here

Driver lists can be found on the championship standings page

Until the number of registered drivers exceeds grid capacity drivers may join the server as soon as it appears in IGOR. Drivers are required to complete 50% distance to score points. This Season we don't have a Red Zone. Moderating will be on reported incidents only. Please restrict chat to pit messages including at the end of the race until ALL drivers still racing have crossed the line.

Small grid but very well behaved and quite neat and tidy for the most part.

Had a little brush with Dave as he spun and I ended up 3rd for the majority of the race.

I was losing ground to those in front and pegging the gap to those behind until about 3 from home when I had a stupid spin and turned a podium into 5th.

Found it hard work running alone for the most part but fun none the less.

Grats to all as we all made it to the end.

Grats Phillipe and all finishers.

Good Start from Dave, Philippe was too strong again.
Had 2 smaller mistakes while chasing the GPLrank Benchmark, improved 0.4, still missed it for 0.3

Small grid, but a tough crowd!
I struggled in the qually session.   I couldn't get below 1:56 on light fuel,  then on the last lap managed to just dip to high 1:55 with race fuel.
I was slightly dismayed in that first session to see the pace of the others, particularly Phillipe & Bastian who were obviously going to be romping away come the race!

The race was more exciting that I expected.  Managed to make a good start & gain a couple of places initially [I figured it was my only chance] but knew Bastian would be past soon enough.  Then a bit of an unfortunate tangle after clipping some polo at the start of a lap & I was then nearer the back of the [small!] field.

For the rest of the race, Billy & I kept each other company.  Initially, he eased past & was consistently edging away.  About half distance, I was then able to recover lost ground & it was all rather close for the rest of the race.   Luckily for me, I managed to pass along the straight & pop in some good personal laps, although it was all getting closer & closer towards the end.  Very enjoyable - thanks for the workout Billy!

On a technical note, it's early days,  but my recent move from ADSL-> seems to be behaving better. Previously, I was enduring periods of dropouts & I suspect the particularly weak upstream connection was definitely being a problem  [at least one occasion when my wife had plugged in her 'phone to charge & it then synced stuff to icloud, maxing out the upstream...].  So if I was previously flickering/jumping now & again,  hopefully that is over.  Although the actual GPL client bandwidth requirements really do look minimal!

EDIT: unlucky Mike;  I didn't register completely at the time, but yes - from looking back, you otherwise were looking good for a safe 3rd until that point.

Cheers,
Dave.

Yes,I noticed you flickering in the early races but you were solid in this one.

Yeah, oh well. Hopefully I'll get the benefit of somebody else doing it at some point.
