Moderator's Report

Phil Girard takes his third win of the season, completing another hat trick. Bastian Grupp finishes second, with a very consistent drive. Jani Posta rounds out the podium, after a good fight with David Rainier.

In general a straight forward and clean race. Well done all. No incidents reported.

Server replay time: 0h07m27s

Dave Curtis realizes very late he has to perform a S&G in the pitstall area. Technically this was an Incorrect Stop & Go, but Dave stopped at the right at the end of the pitstraight.

Advice: it is best to try to perform the S&G on the same lap one did the reset/shift-r. See https://www.ukgpl.com/index.php/rules/pitstops How to perform a stop

Season 30 Amateurs Trophy – Round 3 – Zandvoort

For the third round of the season we go to Circuit Park Zandvoort in the Netherlands. On 7 August 1948, the first race was held on the new permanent Zandvoort circuit. Soon more races followed on the course, with the first official Formula 1 Grand Prix becoming a milestone in 1952. Up until the mid-eighties, heroes like Alberto Ascari, Juan Manuel Fangio, Stirling Moss, Graham Hill, Jim Clark, Jackie Stewart, James Hunt, Nelson Piquet and Alain Prost braved the challenging course in the Dutch dunes and won at Zandvoort. After the Grand Prix of 1985, the Formula 1 left Zandvoort, but the seaside resort and its impressive race track were not forgotten. Many years after the last Grand Prix, the ‘racing drivers of the day’ still talk about their experience on the race track where the challenging corners ‘separated the men from the boys’.

Note that Assen has been replaced with Zandvoort. Assen has proven to be too unreliable recently...

.

I guess that the only consolation is that you are going back to Cornwall, there are far worse places to have to spend your recuperation.

Get well soon Gareth!

Cheers Jethro, BTW UKGPL3 is working again thanks to Paul Smiley

Congrats to Phil for his hat trick of wins. Did you have a good tow on your pole lap, that would be pole worthy in pro! You certainly have improved a lot compared to last year. Also a good podium for Bastian with a consistent drive and Jani solid as always. Well done all!

My full spin in lap 2 determined my race. Victory and even 2nd place was out of reach right from the start as I was far from winning pace but I was quick enough to regain P3 - having great fun in the process.
Grats Philippe, well done Bastian! Thanks all for the race!

This is a very good start season in my case.
I was very lucky in pau. it's not me who had to win.
in Zandvoort, Bastian was also very fast, and I realize it when I made a mistake.

here are my 4 favorite tracks:
- zandvoort
- kyalami
- monza
- silverstone
I know these tracks very well, I'm sorry !!

Have a great holiday all friends. enjoy the sun.

Some great times in qually.

I made a place off the grid and then later, Dave was passing me in turn 1 which I was going to fight as I had the line for 2, but then I saw Jani sideways on Dave's line so I lifted a little so Dave could sneak through. Had a few great laps chasing Dave who was quicker in some parts than me and slower in others. Billy was also closing in on us slowly but I only really had a couple of looks at passing Dave but couldn't make it without throwing a wild one up the inside.

I started to fall away after a while and Billy span but then Jani caught me and I kept him behind for a few laps but it was only a matter of time and I let him go to concentrate on my own race. The 3 of us had some nice close racing in the early part then I was mostly on my own, spinning just once and Billy went past.

Other than a 1:43 when I spun I did 31s, 32s and an odd 33 which just wasn't fast enough to finish any higher, spin or not, so I pretty much finished where I deserved to. Just didn't quite have the pace required.

Enjoyed the close racing while it lasted, hope there is more at Mexico with a bigger field.

This division is very competitive.
I set a good qualifying time (by my standards) & don't feel quite so bad at +2,8s when I found out that Philippe would have been on pole in the Pro division.

Completely forgot to select first gear at the start & half the field past be before turn 1. A couple of minor spins but overall quite consistent. A few good battles in the mid-field with Mike & Jani.

Hopefully we will get a bigger starting grid when the season restarts in August.

Well done by the podium drivers.
