Like John, I was surprised on my first lap by a hairpin that appeared when I had just settled into 5th gear and was reaching for a drink  Shocked!!!!

The track was simple enough, but it took me a while to find the fastest way around it. At the same time, I was struggling with one of these new fangled cars with slick tyres. I guess my usual driving style is just not smooth enough to exploit the grip available. After the T1 debacle I was running in 4th or 5th, but an over eager right foot out of the hairpin on a few laps caused me to spin and drop down the field. Once I had trained myself to feed the gas in a little more carefully I regained a few places and thought I might sneak 4th place. But, just as I entered the final turn the engine coughed twice and stopped!!!! I was out of fuel  taz
Apologies to whoever it was who discovered an a stationary Capri right on the apex of the final turn  Roll Eyes

Grats to the podium who obviously know how to drive these modern slick shod projectiles.

Hope you will reconsider Ziu, we all have bad experiences some times, but think of all the good battles you have had & the races you have enjoyed. Won't you miss that?

My race was very short, turning into T1 & got t-boned, was stranded in the middle of the track facing the wrong way, got hit by a couple of cars before I could press 'esc' & get out of the way.

Went off to practice for 63WSC race & the time flew past, when I went back online for the Norisring race it had already started! Doh.  Roll Eyes

Congrats to the podiums. I'm away next Monday, so cya all at Monza.

Regarding stop/go's in GTL; After testing my findings are thus. When you cut for the third time you receive a S/G message. You should pit in at the next opportunity after the S/G message and take the penalty. Every further cut will result in a S/G message. If you fail to pit in after the first opportunity and you cross the start/finish line you will be DQ'd.

If you get two S/G messages in the same lap then quit as you will never be able to serve the penalty. (one pit stop = clearing one penalty)

I hope this provides some clarification.

EDIT: I recall Ziu saying that he thought he could do three laps before he had to do a Stop/Go. Having studied this posting https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?topic=11928.msg214835#msg214835 it appears that it did say three laps (and not one lap which is correct). If it was this post that Ziu read then he would be well justified IMO to be a bit miffed.

Therefore I would propose that his position before his DQ be reinstated. If anyone disagrees with this can they pm me ASAP please?

I try to provide as much helpful GTL related information on this site as is possible but in this instance the information was clearly in error and I apologise for this. The error has now been corrected.

Kurt, I keep getting an error when trying to access the results:

502. That’s an error.

The server encountered a temporary error and could not complete your request.

Please try again in 30 seconds. That’s all we know.

It affects both these results and older ones too.  Started already last week.  Have tried both Firefox & IE, but both give the error.  Any ideas what might be wrong - and are anyone else getting the same ?

Cheers,
Erling

Got a mail in August - maybe that's the point:

Hello from Google,

We announced last year that we’re deprecating web hosting in Google Drive for users and developers. Our records show that you might have used this feature to publish a webpage or serve other web assets.

On Aug 31, 2016, we will discontinue serving content via googledrive.com/host/[id] and the webpages will not be accessible anymore.

As an alternative to web hosting in Drive, we recommend:

Blogger—An easy and free way to host websites.
Firebase Hosting— An alternative if you’re using the web-hosting feature to serve static webpages with items on Drive.

If you have additional questions or need assistance, please contact Google Support.

Sincerely,
The Google Apps Team

The Capri was always a popular car among the original GTL cars, at least in the most powerful guise. Lots of guys were really fast with it.  Personally I've always hated it.  Could never make it work and was hopelessly slow in it.  When I started practice for this race, with a Greger Huttu setup I had lying around, it was damn near undriveable.  Would swap ends at the merest provocation of the brakes.  Whenever the rear broke loose, in the rare instances when I managed to catch it, I would almost certainly be mugged by the vicious snap back, losing it anyhow. Thus had to apply the rudimentary setup skills I've learned over the last seasons. Can't claim to have tamed the Capri, but at least got it to be driveable for me, and actually enjoyed it on this track.

At the start of the race, I benefitted greatly from the congestion and confusion at the hairpin, emerging in 3rd.  Hesitated slightly at the chicane, as I was uncertain how far up my left side another car was.  Tony ruthlessly exploited this, pushing into the chicane first.  Got back at him the next lap, where a bit of slipstreaming helped me past him and into 3rd again.  Slowly built a gap to cars behind, while up ahead Franky & Ziu were slipping away.  Thus turned into a fairly lonely race.  As I hadn't qualified 3rd, and Geoffers was the only fast guy to have left, I knew there had to be faster drivers behind me, so a constant worry was that one would break free of the pack and close the gap.  Seemed to happen at one point, but then it jumped up again the next laps, so the chasing driver obviously had a moment or two.

Very surprised to finish on the podium (whether 3rd or 2nd, depending on the Ziu drama), as I'm traditionally no good in a Capri.  Commiserations to those who met trouble, especially Geoffers who got so rudely taken out from the lead already on L1.  Grats to the other podiums.

Cheers,
Erling

@ Ziu

We do not want to lose anyone from our league. Especially not if the reason was due to some incorrect information found on this site. That would be very bad  nono

The general consensus regarding taking Stop/go penalties is that you can wait for three laps before pitting in but only if the race has sufficient laps left to run to allow three laps to be taken. Hence the best advice should remain that Stop/Go penalties should be taken at the first available opportunity. Thereby avoiding getting a 2nd cut penalty (instant Stop/Go penalty) on top of the one already being served. I hope that I have made this clear.

With your agreement Ziu we would like to reinstate your 2nd place, less the time taken to complete a Stop/Go penalty. This time would begin from the moment the car crosses the pit entry lights and include the stop for the penalty and exiting the pit lane up to the point when the pit out lights are reached. I cannot tell you what the total time will be as I haven't timed it yet.

We hope that you find this a suitable solution.

That's sad. We all enjoy reading those. Can you pm Picnic and see what he uses for the Assetto Corsa results he publishes?

You're not the only one.
Really sad to see this happen especially as it seemed to be a game issue rather than a league problem. Something lost in translation somewhere I think. If anything I think Tony did everything possible to make it right and show that we are not a number in this league.. (I'm not a number I'm a free man!!! - "The Prisoner", TV show sometime in the 1960's)..... Sorry, I'll get my coat...

I hope Ziu will reconsider. Perhaps track cut warnings could be dispensed with? We are all adults after all and I don't think my lines would have been any different had they been on or off.

Just my 2c
