Championship standings HERE

RACE ONE

Grid/server capacity: 22

Track: Nurburgring (Sprint)

Cars allowed: Ford Capri RS 2600.

Skin pack Download this. All drivers need to download these skins and add them to your Ford Capri folder.

Practice: ~19:20 (60 mins)
Qualifying: 20:20 (10 mins)
Race 1: 20:30 (12 laps)

Time of Day Setting: 14:00
Start: STANDING
Tyre wear: Normal
Fuel consumption: Normal

Server: simracing.org.uk Monday
Password: see above

Notes:
(1) It's best if all drivers can make sure they are connected before the Qualifying session as drivers on track during qualifying will not see cars that join after they are on track until they go back to the garage.
(2) Please make sure you are fully aware of the SimRacing.org.uk Rules.
(3) The AI control should be turned off so that you have control of the car at all times, including pitting. Your player file should therefore read
Autopit="0"
Force Autopit Off="1" // Forces autopit always off
No AI Control="1" // AI never has control over car
If you still finding pitting problematic, experience tells us that its less to do with positioning and more to do with approach speed. A slow approach to pit crew chief has proved most reliable.

Special Notes: Early race start time.

Giving today's races a miss due to severe back pain, which is nothing extraordinary, but today very heavy.
Hot-water bottle looks like the better method of choice  Tongue

Have fun guys and see you next week.

Apologies for quitting the second race and not continuing , but I was just sooooooo frustrated at my inability to keep my car under control, that I hit the "Escape" key!!!  taz taz taz

In both races the car setup would suddenly give progressive oversteer out of some corners, and once it had started there was nothing I could do but perform a slow 360, or a graceful 90 into the barriers. It is probably my heavy right foot, but no matter how I tried I could not keep the ruddy thing under control. cursing cursing

Grats to the podiums and finishers in both races who obviously have a more cultured right foot than I do, or maybe it was just oil on the track??  Roll Eyes

Please could everyone delete car #9 from their install, thanks.

Thanks to everyone who took part. We don't often use these cars so it was good to give them a proper run.

I dont like drive on the last version of Nurburgring becuase the first 4 corners are useless and not interesting, just good for ruining a good lap, specially  the corner3. If was possible i m ready to sign a petition for the abolition of Mercedes Arena !!!
Second negativo point.........I dont understand why on setup sheet of Capri 2600 wheel alignment is blocked (Toe in ? how i can say in english ?), This is absurd ! Specially on a racing car, the same thing for the anti-rollbar..... I am baffled !!!

About race1 first thing grats Geoffers for 1:41,9, I made the same lap time on practice but with a different setup than yesterday because it was too risked and i wanted just finish the race so i prefered lose 0,3 seconds and bring the car until the finish.
One caould ask to me why i dont use one setup for qualy and one different for race, i answer that for 10min of qualy not have sense.
Honestly i dont sure if without the Geoffers mistake i could win, he was very fast, but is true also that i not forced, just i controlled him, between me and Geoffers those who had to attack was him.

Preparation for these two races has been the hardest yet for me this entire season. I'm limping today, thanks to a blister on my right foot, courtesy of the metal accelerator of my G27; that's how hard I had to practice  sweatdrop

After my enjoyable race at AVUS in our 1st round, it was my impression that the Capri and I had reached an understanding. Thus a very rude awakening to arrive at Nürburgring Sprint and find it every bit as disagreeable as before (this one's female for sure...).  Tried every conceivable setup tweak (and a few inconceivable ones), trying to prevent it from swapping ends under braking, especially at that confounded T1.  Finally arrived at one that allowed me to brake with a modicum of confidence.  Probably sacrificed some front end grip, to the detriment of cornering speeds, but what good is it to potentially be a few 10th quicker, if you spin and lose 10+ secs every other lap ?

Didn't match my pb in qual, but didn't matter - wouldn't have changed my grid position anyway. Got an ok start, retaining 3rd place. Matt slipping past at T1 and snatching it wasn't part of the plan though. He handed it back when he spun next lap. Couple laps later, Geoffers went off at the chicane, lending me 2nd.  He was soon on my case. Contemplated if I should just let him past, as I was clearly holding him up.  Wasn't even sure if he would prefer that or not, but he solved my dilemma by slipping past on the inside at T1.

Chasing pack was fairly far back by now, so when T1 finally got me on the penultimate lap, I had plenty of time to recover, so kept 3rd place.

Grats to Ziu & Geoffers - and Ziu for winning the 'series'  balloon clap

Commiserations to Kurt; hope your back gets better soon!

Cheers,
Erling

These cars are a handful, that's probably an understatement. Although I span off loads of times in both races I did enjoy trying to tame these  censored

Shame that a couple of the skins gave me problems when it came to compiling the results last night. I have already said that you should all delete the #9 car please. Once I have investigated further I will post and tell you all if any other cars have to go.

I think it's good that occasionally we give these neglected cars a run out.

The good news  Wink is that we see these cars again in Season 17 (see, I knew you would be pleased).

Details will released during December. Keep an eye out as due to this site being down over Christmas I am trying to finalise all of Season 17 before the Christmas break.

Sorry about quitting and posting like I did guys...it was the sheer frustration of the moment and hitting the escape key was more a case of hitting something, rather than someone.!!! after spinning that stupid Capri for what seemed like the 25th time. Huh

It makes me feel a little better to know that others struggled with these beasts and not everyone managed to completely tame them. In fact hearing that Erling put in so much practice to achieve the pace he did, actually is somewhat  comforting  Wink As all I managed was a few laps on the server on Monday afternoon just to check my connection. In fact I thought that both races were at Nurby, ??!!  must read the posts more carefully  Wink Roll Eyes

I cannot thank Tony enough for not only organising this series, but promising us the joy of driving them again in season 17!!................I can hardly wait  Undecided But at least I will know what to expect next time....maybe??  whistling
