Congrats Doni! Nice drive.

I don't know what happened to Axel but it's a shame he retired so soon.

I almost got an hour of practice beforehand. I knew I needed some with these cars and track. It wasn't until a few laps into the race before I finally knew where to brake at the end of the long straight to consistently make T8. These are the only cars I have to brake a little before I reach the high point on the back straight.

Once I got some rhythm going the McLaren began behaving well. My first few laps with it were difficult.

I made an early mistake by sliding wide at T2A. I'm glad Doni made it by without trouble since I wasn't expecting the car to come back onto the track like it did. With a little gap in front of me, I was able to get the tires working well.

I tailed Doni for 10 laps. He never made a mistake that would allow me to pass. One mistake in T1 would have let me pass but I would have needed to foresee that mistake. I could have passed if I could have out braked Doni but there was no way the McLaren was going to out brake the Chaparral.

After a few laps behind Doni, I started thinking I should back off at some point so I can see what kind of lap time I can get out of the car. I made a slight error and clipped the curb at T8. I decided then to back off. Unfortunately I made a second mistake and clipped the next curb in T9. That dropped me back 4 seconds instead of the 2 seconds I was hoping. It looks like I traded the win for fast lap. Had I not dropped back I may have passed Doni when he ran out of fuel. I wondered why he was so slow at the end.

Doni made it a rather entertaining race. I know he's tough on this track. It didn't surprise me when I got stuck behind him. To beat him and his Chaparral, I needed to drive without error. And just one less error out of the 3 I made, would have still given me a win with his late fuel problems. Thanks Doni. It was good fun and I liked seeing you put in such a nice drive.

Thanks guys. See you again soon.

Grats Doni for the win! WD Greg and Carlos and David.

It wasn't my day, didn't feel well and this track is not mine...
I was totally exhausted when I ran wide over the top at T2/3, so I decided to retire Roll Eyes

Sorry to learn that you were ailing somewhat, Axel.  Get well soon, bud.

WOWZER!  A home win being born & raised just 20 minutes down the road in Bowmanville!  Smiley  But it was anything but a cinch deal.  Greg was exactly what I figured him to be.  Fierce in his pursuit!  What a fine drive to give me fits for so many laps.  Grats, GT!  For once, I didn't throw things into the dust bin...as per our GP67 race a week earlier at this very circuit...and had a really solid race.  I made several errors to be sure but none crippling.  Greg mentioned that in T1 on one pass, I nibbled the inside curb a bit and that unsettled the C2E.  I just knew that Greg had a shot at a pass on the run up to T2 but it didn't quite come off.  Each and every lap at the top of the Andretti Straight, I expected a late brake charge but again, GT didn't feel quite confident to pull it off.  PHEW!

Rolling into the last lap and with a comfy lead of some 3-4s, I became aware of the engine spluttering.  GULP!  I pussy-footed it a bit up the straight and through the final esses to take the flag just a blink ahead of Greg with all of 5 psi on the fuel pressure gauge.  MUMMA MIA!  In later years, the S/F line was much further down pit straight.  I'd never had made it with Greg hot on my heels.

Grats to Carlos on a good P3!  Bad luck, Dave, with the engines.  Sure wish we could get some more starters for this keen mod.

I've been wondering if it has something to do with the summer holiday in Europe. I've been around long enough now to notice attendance drops off in the summer. Participation does seem lower this summer than I've noticed before.

I forgot to add. I had something strange happen for this race. When I joined the server, my engine sounded a little strange. I also noticed I had a different tachometer than when I practiced beforehand. It looked like the 67 Honda tachometer and instead of shifting at about 7200 rpms while practicing, I was shifting at 10,000 rpms during this event. It's funny that I never looked at Prib to see what rpms it was showing. At first I thought I had joined with the wrong car but after checking the entry list and looking at my car in the replay, I had the car I wanted.

Greg please report this to the mod team! (Greg Gliebzeit or G.Spinning or Tommie Wink )
You had car #73, maybe there is something wrong with the online skins.

I myself have a strange thing in the menu-TV-screen, not seeing drivers in the cars at wider distances. Shocked
