I'll be happy to help Clive.  Although experience tells me its different for just about every system!

Anyway, I got past that issue after some google'ing.

some success.  I have GPL working and the G25 wheel controls it.  Now need to fins how to twerk everything.

The FPS is poor and the wheel settings need adjusting.  More google'ing.

Two major issues I have are:

Every time I restart the PC I get a screen with
GNU GRUB version 2.02 etc etc.  I can bypass it by typing 'exit' and then it goes to the normal Grub selection screen. Don't really know why but re-enabling and disabling secure boot seemed to sort that.

When I exit GPL the Linux desktop is set at a super low resolution and I can't reset it to normal screen.

Any pointers would be helpful.

p.s. should I start a new thread as this isn't really to do with windows update?

Can you give me an ideea of what specs your PC has and wich distro you have installed.

Maybe the threads at SRMZ where marcmirande and Zalo write about setting up the wheel and shifter can help too.

The bad framerate seems to come from a not working GPU driver! How did you install the proprietary driver?

Thank you.

PC:

AMD A10 6700 3.7GHz
8GB RAM

Graphics Geforce GTX 645 2GB

I installed Mint 18 'Sarah'

I just installed the driver recommended in the driver manager which is Nvidia-367.57.

Incidentally there is another driver offered called amd64-microcode which I guess is for the cpu but it lists it under 'unknown' and says the device is not working so I have left the selection as do not use device.

Have you done the steps here ?  https://sites.google.com/site/easylinuxtipsproject/mint-cinnamon-first

On this site there are also tips how to optimize grub.

For this CPU the AMD driver may be a good idea, as it should handle the power states, it will not hurt if not.

The wine and FFB settings you will find at SRMZ I did all the explanations here from post #77 on

ok thanks.  I've found one of the threads on SMRZ so now posting in that to try and stop hijacking this one!  Grin

btw, the FPS issues seems to go away if I use a virtual desktop in wine configuration.  I can't get in to work at full screen size but I'll figure that out later.

It's unfortunate but I think it's all this messing about that puts people off linux when windows does most of it for you.

Knowing what to input in to the terminal console is like learning latin backwards!

Giving up on the Linux option.  Running in to one problem after another with it an don't have the time to continually keep chasing my tail.

I am, however considering dual booting Windows 7 and windows 10.  Anyone tried this? Looks easy enough from a search and licences seem readily available at less than £10.

Anyone know of any complications?

Thanks Pelle.

Saw that it had been fixed, checked, all working.

Went to remove Linux from PC, same way I've done several times before, went to fix the MBR to remove GRUB and its totally screwed my PC over.  Not ideal as I'm trying to use it to build stuff for my next career just now. Thankfully I have the important stuff backed up, just a total ball ache having to go through a reset.

If I ever mention LINUX again, please someone slap me!  Embarrassed

I do not know the answer, but it seems like some of the new mods only work with v2 rasterizers.

The previous update for W10 64 resulted in GPL recognising either the axes or buttons of my G25 but not both at the same time. The latest update has left it not working at all in GPL though it responds in 'Devices' and works in Grid Autosport (apart from the clutch pedal which does not respond in Devices so presumably that indicates a hardware fault. A detached wire maybe?).
I'm using the latest driver (lgs510 x64) and used various USB2 and USB3 sockets without success.

I have another wheel - a Microsoft Sidewinder in perfect condition but unfortunately no longer supported.

I think that I will just use a gamepad and hope that a future W10 update solves the problem.

Michael, if I remember rightly the W10 update knackered GPL. I think I had to restore my G27 controls by deleting & reinstalling from scratch. You can download from the Logitech web site.

Hi Billy, thanks for your advice. I reinstalled everything from scratch and all is now working  -  including the clutch.

Hey Chaps,

ok, so I'm a bit late to this discussion Smiley

Just checking - is everyone now ok with Wonders10 & GPL/Prib/FFB/Logitech wheels working as they should be?

I'm just recovering from a Win7 meltdown & whilst I seem to have most things together in a new Win7 environment, I'm thinking that maybe for some additional outage - maybe I should just get Win10 going. (Especially with the current support about to end!).

There again, I may just stick with Win7 for now until my (very OLD!) machine finally karks it   Cheesy

(I'm certainly not ready to move to Linux on my main machine).

Cheers,
Dave.

Dave, I am running on Windows 10, including Pribluda, logitech wheel & FFB2. I have had a few run ins with Windows 10 but perseverance & a little advice from Cookie usually works. IGOR  has not worked properly for ages but I can manage
