Moderator's Report

No reported incidents for the race.
Robert takes his first win of the season. Samb keeps up his championship push with 2nd place in the Eagle & Greg Taber finishes in third space.
All drivers have missed at least one race & there has been a wide use of different cars. The championship is very open so no handicap will apply, at least for the next race.

HANDICAPPING
The tokens system remains for all drivers.
In the interest of having a competitive championship the faster drivers are requested to voluntarily select car that suits your ability. If you are consistently qualifying at the front of the grid,  finishing on the podium & recording fastest lap then you should be not be taking a faster car.
The championship will be reviewed after Race 3. Drivers may then be allocated to one of the following handicap groups
Group 1 BRM, Honda, or Cooper,
Group 2 as above + Brabham
Group 3 as above + Ferrari
The championship is wide open so no handicap will apply for Round 5.

Until the number of registered drivers exceeds grid capacity drivers may join the server as soon as it appears in IGOR.

Drivers are required to complete 50% distance to score points.

There is no Red Zone for this series, moderating will be on reported incidents only. Please remember that an additional 1 place penalty is awarded for Lap 1 incidents.

You've gained 50 tokens (10 + (4 x 10)) and spent 22 tokens (BRM (0), BRM (0), Eagle (17) and Cooper (5)). 50-22=28  yes

Just seems harsh not picking up my tokens for the other discoed Eagle race, so be it!

Wow, tough race! Thought I'd take the Eagle this time as I remember racing it here back in S25. Took me a while to get in the groove in quali, but 4th was good enough for my modest ambitions  Wink.

Early on Greg, Rob and Trist got were pulling away slowly and I was driving a lonely race for the first 10 laps or so. Passed a Brabham facing the wrong was at the corkscrew which turned out to be Greg. Began ever-so-slowly to catch up with Trist which set the stage for a battle royale with me, Greg and Trist. It was fierce and one small error could have landed us out of contention  Smiley.

Sadly for Trist at least he put a wheel on the grass past the bridge prompting me and Greg to slip by. Only Rob was ahead of me at this stage and though I tried the close the gap I simply couldn't sustain the race pace. Was content with 2nd place although Greg did make me work for it, closing in dangerously in the last few laps.

Congrats to Rob for a fine win and to Greg for rounding the podium. See you all next race  Smiley.

Results up, replay up on UKGPL3 here.

My race ended rather forcefully going end over end at T3 past the bridge. Was doing rather well, especially compared to my previous races!

Everyone knows that million-to-one chances happen 9 times out of 10. Why the hell do I keep crashing then?!

Congrats Rob and Sam! Good job by both of you.

That was fun. I thought the Brabham might give me a little advantage over Rob, even though the only 67 I might have less experience with is the BRM. It proved itself. And pole position reinforces my thought that this one of my better tracks.

A better gear set should make me a little faster and make it easier to race. I changed 2nd,3rd and 4th for the race. They were too short. A longer 3rd gear didn't improve the car. It made me struggle with T4 and still wasn't long enough to carry me all the way down the hill to T8, the main reason for that change. The longer 4th allowed me to make it to the corkscrew. That helped.

I struggled a bit early sliding the car around too much. After a lap or two I settled down and was able to open a gap on Rob. It seemed like he backed off a bit after a few laps. It was hard work getting away from him early. Later a lapse in concentration had me braking late for the corkscrew. I spun and came to a stop in the middle of it. I didn't panic but I also didn't know what to do. I can't think of many worse places to stop. I had no idea where Rob or Tristan was. I was worried I might hit Rob as I was rolling backwards. I was able to reverse out of Sam's way. Not getting in Rob or Tris's way was sheer luck. I'm sure glad I didn't wreck anybody.

I didn't take too long to catch Tristan and Sam, but once I did I guessed it would be impossible to pass. I'd fall back a little from minor errors and caution, to recover soon after. Tristan got sideways in T4. Sam slipped by on the inside and I had the momentum to go by on the outside. Sam had a good pace once by Tristan. It wasn't easy trying to gain on him. It wasn't long until 3rd gear got me. To be safe I started the race using 2nd gear in T4. In 3rd place behind Sam, I started using 3rd gear in T4. The second or third time through T4 in 3rd gear I spun. That kept Sam from being hounded until the race's end.

With a better gear set and a little more caution, I could have made this an easier race. With the two spins, I was driving hard the entire race.

Thanks guys. See you next time.

P.S. I'd like to drive the Ferrari at Solitude and the Lotus at Reims. I might stick with the Cooper or Brabham most other races. I was going to drive the Cooper here. I drove the Brabham so I might be able to challenge Rob in the Cooper. I didn't want him to drive the BRM or Honda to give me a car advantage in the Cooper. It appears I have the tokens to use the Brabham the other 3 races.

I hope you guys hoarding tokens start using them. Rob doesn't really need to though. He'd kick our butts severely.

Was a good race at a fun track! Greg was simply too fast, not much, but enough to create a 3-4s gap, and I burned my RF tire trying to hold on and/or trying to keep on the pressure a bit. Also hit the polo's in T1 and did need a few laps to adjust/recover from that, and Tris got close for a while.

Then Greg spun at the Corkscrew, but I was able to take a wide line to make sure getting through...from then on increased the gap to Tris and in the middle of the race managed the pace and gap, also managing the tires and engine. When Sam got by Tris, he gained half a second a lap on me, and then started to push more late race to take the checkered first Wink

Well done Sam and Greg, and finishers. Hard track to avoid mistakes. Greg and Sam prolly had more sheer pace, but as often my trackposition and consistency helped a lot...happy to finally have some pts on the board. Missed the first 3 races and messed up on Lap 1 at Mosport.

Lapped cars were exemplary, even tho giving Andreas a scare I guess  Tongue Commiserations to the DNF's...

first it was not possible to connect, I don't know what's append !I try everythings and finaly change my version of GPL and can joint, but on this version I have no setup and also no fine setup !... also no training on this track since long time , so I had a bad setup and stay far from my PB (1.07.10).....the start was not so bad from the 10-15 first laps but my tires was full red on the front right and I was loosing mutch time and can't do nothing more agains Sam and Greg.... in this conditions finish 4th is not so bad when at one moment I was thinking to ended my race, but I was thinking to match some points even if I don't do all races....
WD Rob and podium Wink .....cy soon...

Thanks Jethro. The server worked well. When I checked my latency a couple of times it was .135-.140. The lowest I've seen to Europe yet.

I've had a screen freeze here before. Just prior to qualifying, I had my doubts I'd see the finish. It appears there were no discos. Excellent!
