Moderator's Report

SUMMARY

Bastian Grupp takes his first win of the season, setting the fastest lap of the race also. Philippe Girard finishes second, and Dave Rainier rounds out the podium.

Polesitter Jani Posta missed the start.

Server replay time: 0h48m58s

Billy Nobrakes did a reset in the last lap and 15s will be added to his racetime, losing a position to Mike James.

If a driver makes a shift-R on the last lap then, depending on the layout of the pit lane and position of the finish line, it may be possible for a driver to take the Stop and Go at the end of the last lap and cross the finish line in the pit lane. If this is not possible or the driver elects not to do it then the moderator may apply a reduced time penalty (normally 15 seconds) on the basis that the driver did not have sufficient opportunity to perform the Stop and Go.

  • Billy Nobrakes — Failing to take Stop & Go after Shift-R — 15.000 seconds added

Ah, that reminds me of my days in the Wazas where we drove by sense of smell with a white headband over our eyes............................... ninja

Try to be 100% on track at the Ring with this procedure!  Grin

On a sidenote, the only guy I have ever seen doing a 100% on track lap here is our one and only Carlos Cendejas!  thumbup1

Having a few technical issues tonight with the PC. Still working on it but I might have to catch the next race instead.

Sorry to hear Blake. Hope you get it sorted! Wink

Wow, I just checked GPL Rank to see the world record times at the ring. Could it be that the Cooper is 7 seconds slower per lap than the Lotus?

That's right. My T77 and BT7 PB's here are only 5s slower than my fastest 65 time here. Must admit both T77/BT7 are relatively my best 65 cars, easily in top 10 at both 65 rankings at GPLRank. You lose the most time at the long backstraight, but the curvy character at the Ring helps for the most part Wink

Great race, Congrats Bastian! Well done David R. and Philippe.

I was driving within my limits until I set my sights on David R. I would close the gap to David R only to make a mistake each time. And then Billy would close the gap to me. I felt a little bit like a yo-yo.

I was able to check my previous best lap times. I have done an 8:50.2 in a BRM and an 8:50.1 in a Honda. I will definitely give credit for my improvement to the Lotus.  Smiley

I found a graphics upgrade last night which improved to sightseeing - all 14 miles of it. I nearly finished the whole race with no serioud incident. On the last lap I foaund a bit of the new scenery so interesting it required close inspection from upside down.  The last half lap was interesting when Mike put on a late charge. What he did not know is that I am due a time penalty forr the stop & go, so 5th place is his
Philippe - there is no fixed rule on handicapping. You are unbeatable in the Lotus so it makes it more interesting for  the rest of us if you have a  slower car. The Cooper & BT7 are definitely slower. The Lotus, Ferrari, BRM & BT11 sqare all similar. The Honda has speed but does not handle so well. In your place I w4ould probably take the Honda. I am not moderating this series - this is just a suggestion.

I was a bit slow in the qualifying but ok. I managed 6 seconds faster, earlier that year.
A shame you missed the start Jani.

Before the race, i was getting into trouble. I had the Wheel Graphik Bug in my Brabham.
It was very disturbing and  i couldn't see my rev counter. I reconnected several times and switched from opengl to direct3d
without fixing the problem. But I was creating a new one. Even my frames were around 60, my machine was stuttering in and around corners and i could not really push. I was very happy not to crash too often and that phillipe was slow.

GRats to all finishers

Not sure what I'm doing wrong this season but I'm doing plenty of it . Thought the choice of Lotus might improve things but that was no help either , amongst other things  I found the lower seat position ( or is it a higher screen / scuttle ) gave a more restricted forward view of the track than i was used to , no help at all on those blind bends , maybe I should have stuck to the Brabby which i know well . The other obstacle was I only had half the graphics loaded in the race , the whole of the grandstands and pits were missing making the track a very different view from what I was used to .
Anyway enough of the excuses , I did a bad start which got worse as the race progressed , had a distant scrap with Dave C , passing each other a few times on the long straight bit .
2 s/r later forced me to retire from last place on the last lap !

Grats to the podium and all finishers .

This happens to many drivers - fix is made. angel

Had a fairly mediocre race with a couple of big hits that made the car a bit wonky.

Got into a bit of a rhythm late on and was catching Billy but not quickly enough until he had an off.

Trying to close him down I had a silly spin and fell too far back, luckily not too far back though. Good job I perservered and didn't do a SHIFT-R after rolling at the Karussell.
