Well that was an adventure. Had zero practise so had to learn the track in qualifying Smiley Qualified last but one but decided to make an easy start and let Jeffrey go. Then just tried to stay consistent. Surprisingly my pace wasn't so bad and at one pointbI was up to 4th. However, I made some silly mistakes as I started to push more and list places. Had a great battle with Mark E and Maikel and was running 4th to the finish but lost all gears at the start of the last lap and finished 5th.

Overall, I totally loved the car and track and will be running this race with the AI for sure. Just a shame there are not other makes of cars to race with it.

Seems somethings gone screwy with the results processing. The log parser I use for the charts had me in 6th place when I bailed on the 2nd or 3rd lap.

I'm obviously in a minority here but I didn't enjoy tonight at all. Gave up using the Rift as the jagged 45 degree lines shimmering on armco was giving me a headache. Wasn't that much better on a normal monitor and I'm glad I'll never be rich enough to buy a Porsche as these are not remotely fun.

Race went kinda like I expected  Grin

Managed to qualify 2nd but like Simon said I was placed level with him at the grid...and on the inside aswell. Had a good start and was surprised that I could create abit of a gap. Then I traded paint with the last corner's wall, so I AC's term I completely smashed it against it....
Still the car wasn't handling that bad...or worse then before atleast. Then I took several pitstop in the sandbox a few times in order to make Jeffrey think I took a real pitstop so he would spend 2 minutes sitting there and me cruising by ( pure psychological warfare Cool )
Was getting into it abit somewhere during the middle of the race getting consistent laps and having a good battle with Michael and MJ right on my tail. And of course I start pushing the car more and ending in the gravel. 2 laps before the end I shifted to 3th instead of 5th. Poked my stick in the wrong hole, happens to the best of us....  Grin

I kinda liked it, though these cars aren't really my thing. They feel so alive they grow a consience and stop listening at what I tell them to do.  Tongue

I had a lot of fun with this combo  Smiley in hindsight I should have picked an easier track to ease us all into the deft handling RSR but riverside and the RSR are famous from the past together.

Couldn't get my act together in qually and bagged 3rd. Got a good start in the race chasing Simon ahead whilst Maikel looked like he was on nitrous!  Shocked
Simon lost it on lap 2 and I was a good 2nd place with a decent gap. However Jeff caught me on lap 3 then as I went to downshift with him closing my flipping gearstick fell off its mount  :'( - the clamp had loosened and I fumbled around trying to find a gear. This continued down the straight and i thought I'd blown the engine or gearbox with a few horrendous revving shifts from 5th to 3rd  Shocked I had to pull over and re-clamp the shifter to my chair  :'( I lost over 40 seconds and rejoined about half a lap behind the pack but decided to carry on the chase. I set several 1:55 laps and was pleased to find Maikel up ahead to give me someone to fight. Soon we caught Spanner and then Gary as they both had offs after some fun 3 car action. Then Maikel had a couple more offs and I ended up finishing with a 3rd place podium  laugh

Well done to Simon on the win and great drive by Stefan to get 2nd  thumbup2

I enjoyed myself, the cars are great. Loved all the steering input and cars moving about  Cool Just hope I can find a league using them somewhere for a series   Smiley

Having never raced here before, I must mention how amazing that track is - both in terms of how well made it is and just the layout.

The car was for the most part enjoyable, but I'm just not man enough to handle it properly  Grin

Practice was terrible, couldn't match my times that I set a few days ago - but near the end when I'd given up all hope things started to come together. Qualy was okay, I managed to improve a bit to go 4th.

But in the race I really got into the groove and began to enjoy the car - sure I wasn't quick, but I was figuring out how to not throw it in the sand at Turn 8, which is why I went from last to near the front.

Wouldn't say no to another race here, just in a more tame car!  Tongue

Noooo, don't deny me a second victory in an AC fun race! Tongue

Great fun yesterday! And thanks for the driving tips on these cars. Made my setup a bit on the safe side, which paid off in the end.
Made a good start and had Spanner on my case for the first couple of laps. In my quest for a straight line into T8 i got my front wheel in the sand. That slowed me down considerably and left Mark with nowhere to go. Sorry!
We both spun, luckily without too much damage. However we had to led the rest of the field go by before rejoining. From then on i kept it on the tarmac and after a while i found myself in front with Simon in hot persuit. It was big fun dicing with him, but eventually had to surrender in the final lap.

I love the way you really need to modulate the brakes and gas as well as all the steering input that is needed to get these vintage cars around a track quickly. I can think of a few other ones that would really shine on these old skool tracks! If even Sharky was enjoying himself with these cars,.... angel
And yes please MJ,  keep feeding us these fine vintage cars now and then.

AC 2.0 is imminent!...

Not before we get 1.10, 1.11, 1.12 and so on...  Tongue

So what does 1.9.3 bring and 2 promise for the future?

1.9.3
- Improved DX11 initialization
- Fixed same samples volume going crazy during update
- Tweaked compressor parameters for external view, now it kicks in more relaxed
- Corrected electronics behaviour and street tyres typo on Porsche 911 Carrera S 991.2
- Added new section to video.ini to force refresh rate (only works in fullscreen mode):

Glad people enjoyed a bit of vintage racing for a change. I love old school racing as much as modern racing and would love to run a classic series in tandem with a modern one but alas our numbers are never big enough to warrant the effort involved in setting up and practising for two separate series. If I knew I'd get a regular 15 drivers or more then it would be a different matter. So sadly we only get to use these cool older or individual cars as fun races or one offs.  :'(
I think next week we will try the gt4 caymans out but I would also like to run a race using either the can-am 917 or Moby dick 935's at suitable tracks. I had hoped that using the very latest content would grab more guys from Kunos but despite posting an ad for the race there, they obviously all prefer pickup races online than leagues. Seems to be the way it is these days.

I would be up for more vintage racing any time! I am sure a lot of RRL members too.

We even discussed if we should make a little one-off PGT race vintage style, featuring the Porsche Moby Dick or another car and the Carrera RSR 3.0 or something like that Cheesy

so, yeah, definitely up for vintage racing!

There is a lot of quality historic racing content in AC now and a few tracks that suit nicely, it's just a shame that upto now there are no historic cars that can race against each other. We need some BMW batmobiles to take on the pork or McLaren can am v the 917. An Alfa against the escort would be cool with a 911 ST thrown in for good measure.
We also get the awesome Porsche 962 in the 2nd pack in November  Cool be great if the sauber and Mazda can race against it competively.
I also love the brutal old f1 cars we have and don't use enough.
