Yeah its been coming for a while mate.  Emailed all the inactive drivers last week, no reply so no point being in the team if you arn't driving.

So now we are a tiny little team of 6 drivers who actually race.  Tongue

Anyone fancy joining us, lol.

We're actually looking into the issue of team size too and there may well be some "organisational changes" happening at Team Shark soon. Watch this space.

Am I to assume that simracing.org is run on the same lines as any credible sporting organisation in that any team may only have a single team representing it in any given league or division ?

For example I assume that Team Shark and Team Shark juniors will not be permitted to race in the same league/division.
However if there are to be 2 divisions then Team Shark could race in Div 2 and Team Shark Juniors in Div 1 ?

Ya can't win!  Undecided

I hadn't finished the admin yet which is why I hadn't announced it yet, so you've pre-empted me somewhat...

There simply aren't enough teams in SimRacing taking up the drivers that want to be part of a team. I've done the decent thing by reducing the team size and splitting Team Shark into 2 teams of 6 each to match the other teams in SimRacing. This is like Red Bull and Toro Rosso in F1, 2 teams competing against each other with a common ownership and common resources.

Each Team Shark team is under strict orders to not help the other team during races. We share a common website and forums and at the end of each season drivers maybe swapped between teams. They are indepedent in terms of scoring points and like all other teams willl compete against each other. Which means they can take points off each other and so on. This is to the detriment of Team Shark as a whole because either one of the teams has less drivers to now win championships with.

If new teams would like to take on drivers please do, but there is simply a lack of teams wanting to run to cover the number of drivers we have who want to be part of a team.

If your view is shared by many Greg, then I am very close to simply disbanding Team Shark altogether. I put in a lot of effort to run the team and facilities and I don't need this hassle if we are viewed as competing unfairly, this is a hobby, not a job! I don't want to be seen to be getting an unfair advantage and I feel this is a really sporting thing to do whilst giving many drivers the opportunity to be part of a team and share the resources that I and Team Shark can provide.

Hey Sharky bud I was only asking mate.  When we were a large team its actually something I had considered doing but decided against at the time due to several of the drivers lack of intrest.  We may actually follow the same route as yourselfs but it all depends what the guys want to do.

Sorry if I upset you mate.

Did Grimsby hold out for a win today ?

Team Minnow surely? Wink

I can totally see why that could be a bad thing in a big money corporate evilness real life type scenario Greg but here, in the very sporting atmosphere we've got, not a serious issue surely m8?

I've always wanted a limit on team numbers, for reasons we've been through loads of times before, and am pleased if you're planning to split into two groups Shark. I'd have preferred if a limit was in place right from the start, but seeing as it wasn't it would have been really difficult to force one so the point was a bit moot. Really good move guys, as long as it isn't forced on others and I'm sure it won't be Smiley

Ok, sorry if I sounded snappy.

I've been feeling there have been some genuine undertones inbetween the lines of friendly rivalry recently that maybe both the strong presence Team Shark has in the SimRacing.org.uk admin team and also my recruiting of slightly more drivers than other teams has made me consider what to do about it. I genuinely believe this is good for the team and building it to be even stronger in the future and for fair play within the league. Team Shark runs a NASCAR wing too that most people don't know about in here.

I have been considering for some time stepping down from my role as Events Director in SimRacing.org.uk to distance myself as a team boss from the running of the league in case that was seen as somehow unfair, which I can assure people it is not, but I can understand how it may look.

P.S. The team names are not finalised yet.

Did Grimsby hold out for a win today ?

Thankfully yes. Very nervous for the last few minutes, but a much needed win for our slightly battered haddocks.
