Season 30 Historics Trophy – Round 10 – Silverstone

Silverstone is built on the site of a World War II bomber base, RAF Silverstone, which opened in 1943. The track hosted the first F1 championship race in 1950. The British Grand Prix has been permanently held here since 1987. The airfield's three runways, in classic WWII triangle format, lie within the outline of the present track. The first two races were held on the runways themselves, with the 1949 International Trophy switching to the perimeter track. This arrangement was used for the 1950 and 1951 Grands Prix. In 1952 the start line was moved from the Farm Straight to the present Finish Straight, and this layout remained largely unaltered for the following 35 years. Since 1975 the track has been modified with the introduction of chicanes etc – we will be using the 1960’s layout.

This will be a 3 Litre event.

Sorry for the contact, Sam.  I was so angry I could hardly see straight.  You were doing nice work in the McLaren.

Edited...  First line removed.  I'm getting better now.  Smiley

Not a problem Doni  Smiley. It was a cheeky pass I was attempting. I was also frustrated at my mediocre performance. Made far too many errors to compensate for the McLaren's lack of straight-line speed. Eventually ripping a wheel off at Woodcote ended my misery.

Sorry all for causing a slow mobile chicane with my desperately sad bogged down start. It was a bad one even for me. It meant that I contested T1 with Bastian. Sorry if you think that I didn't leave enough room, but we touched, spun and both could continue. After a few more spins and avoidance of other spins, my dismal showing ended with a blown engine.

Just made a couple of tweaks to an old setup during qually and it transformed the Waza into a Fezza beater....well it did after about 12 laps of the race when I discovered how to drive it!!!  Roll Eyes

Grats Tris and commiserations to all of those who failed to finish, but the pace must have been generally good because I don't think any of the finishers were lapped?
