Anyone tried this car up against the f1 GTR? I have seen footage of them racing closely back in the day but don't know if that translates into AC  Undecided

The McLaren F1 GTR we have ingame is the 96-spec car and significant slower than the Porsche 911 GT1 '98.
The first 911 GT1, built in 1996, was a close competitor to the McLaren and also the 911 GT1 Evo from 1997 raced against the F1 GTR Long Tail, but after the 1997 season McLaren decided to leave the GT1 scene while Porsche developed the 911 GT1 '98.

Informative answer thanks !  Smiley. Wish Kunos would concentrate on making some competitors for some of these more unique racers, cars like the f40Lm should be easy enough to implement when they already have an f40 in game for instance. Not that we should complain the amount of new cars we've been getting  Smiley

Finally got a handful of laps in last night, slotted in just behind our 3 resident fast guys  Smiley Hope to get some more Laps in on the server later this eve.
Has this car got adjustable boost? Must admit I didn't try altering it yet and would probably only want it on the straight anyway. Still find this car very manageable for a brute Le Mans winner, as long as your not over greedy on the throttle on corner exit  Smiley

(...) for a brute Le Mans winner (...)

AFAIK it was probably the worst Porsche to ever win Le Mans. The competition DNF'd and the GT1 just rolled up the field.

All other races were won by Mercedes and the Porsche GT1 didnt stand a chance at all throughout the entire season.

But still, i like the car a lot and am glad to have it in the game... its just funny that it is basically the "least successful" successful car we have right now if that makes any sense Cheesy

Trust me... I pester aris and marco almost on a weekly basis to get cars whoch actually compete woth others we already have. Ive also asked aris to enquire about the esprit v8 (would you believe Kunos never even asked about including it!! Lol) also, the f40lm isnt quite as straight forward as you would think, however i do hint that the stage 3 version should have more performance to match the f1.. Aris said he will look into it iirc.

The '96 f1 we have is not too far off the 911 gt1, twisty tracks you can see its advantage, tracks like lemans are no too bad. You would probably get away with running these together if you Kept the gt1 to hard tyres.

That's why the GT3 class is so popular, many different cars within the same performance range  Cool

According to rsrlivetiming the Porsche and McLaren are quite different regarding laptimes:

Spa:

Porsche 2:15
McLaren 2:22

Nürburgring GP (GT):

Porsche 1:54
McLaren 2:01

Silverstone GP:

Porsche 1:59
McLaren 2:05

Brands Hatch GP:

Porsche 1:24
Mclaren 1:28

Btw: Damage is still set to 60% on the server while it says 50% here.

once the 787B is officially released it will probably sit in between the two.. atm the 962's are a little too slow according to the tests which have been done.. so expect the 962 to be improved a tad..then that should bring the C9 and 962 closer, and then if the 787B sits in the middle it might not be too bad..

Not sure if I'm able to make the race. AC is starting to freak out here, was on it just a few hours ago and now I can't load into any servers. It gets stuck at loading all cars and then just completely freezes up and I have to reset my pc  Huh

Been trying few things with updating drivers and all, hopefully I can fix it in time....stupid AC  Tongue
