I didn't even get chance to turn a wheel here until Sunday afternoon, Started in the 2:48's and got down to 2:20 as I found out where the track actually went and began to recognise some of the almost invisible turns. Managed to get into the 2:19's in Q and 2:18's in the race so admit I really needed at least another night's worth of practising to have progressed any further up the field. Like Erling I had a very lonely race apart from early on when I was battling with Roguk until I got a better exit onto one of the straights and managed to out drag him down to the next corner. Managed to keep Matt visible ahead until just after half way when a few weird laps where I completely forgot where the course went and overshot a few corners or changed down ridiculously early thinking it was a different corner completely I was approaching which put me some 15 or so seconds ahead of Bob who had replaced Roguk behind and a similar distance behind Matt who was driving a very consistent race ahead. I had switched to the D2 cars mid season in the hope of finding a sparing partner being easily the slowest of the D1 drivers but it doesn't seem to be shaping up that way at all unfortunately.

Was glad though to manage to keep it out of the walls other than a few glancing blows but didn't suffer any noticeable damage. Eased off towards the end when I saw 1st Ziu and then Erling approaching from behind so figured as I was in a very safe 5th with no chance of advancing further there was little point in pushing as the tyres were beginning to show their age somewhat.

Congrats to Ziu on another win and Erling and Clive for rounding out the top 3. Commiserations to the retirements. It's a shame repairing these during the race isn't an option.

Like Erling said I would like to see these come back again in the future but stick with either D1 or D2. I just don't think there are enough of us to drive 2 separate classes unfortunately. Sad

Thanks all, enjoyed it as usual.

Hope you are better soon Bill.

I dont care to talk about my race because not has sense that Erling and me go walking with just two Div1  with Tony off after some lap only.
I dont care to win a race so and worse win a championship so ( i dont won it even but i m sure that also to Erling does not like win so ).
For me race is battle with Geoffers, Clive, Matt and all you and for got it i decided to abandon Div1 and take Div2 for the next races.
It s clear that for me if Erling choose to go head with Div1 i will accept this because rules allow it and it s right that every one can does the better for himself.

Talking about difference beetween Div2 81 and Div2 80 i think that are both balanced also if i prefer Div80 ( i think to drive the car number 54 ) because is less understeering than Div81 also if Div81 is little more quick on the straights.

I hope that in future we can do again a championship with this cars and i think that this last races will be a good test for Div2, it mean that i m think that for see a great champiionship should be better use Div2 80 and Div2 81 also because with tyre wear and not pitstop (  this is a long speech because with tyre wear x2 one could decide to pitting and change his tires ) it s more strategic.

An other possibility could be change Division as we did with F167 with Pool1 Pool2 Pool3 dependently from standings.............but it s the Boss that decide, just i m asking to have a balanced championship.

Some people have pointed out the lack of numbers in Div 1 and I could not argue with anyone who suggested that, based on my usual pace, I should be driving a Div 1 car in this series and add to the small group in that class.
Although I am a relative Noobie in GTL I do seem to be able to compete with most of the carsets and at least give the aliens at the front something to think about. But from the start of this Asian Capri season I was totally out of my depth and struggling.

I found the Div 1 cars absolutely impossible to drive, and initially the Div 2 cars were not much better. I started the season in the slowest '79 cars because they were only ones where I could control the power and complete a lap without incidents. I also decided to avoid pitstops wherever possible, because they always cost me far too much time. So the first 2 races were simply a case of keeping the car on the grey stuff and preserving the tyres to avoid a pitstop. I felt that I was just trundling around and getting in the way when the Div 1 cars came up to lap me. TBH I almost decided to abandon this series because I was so uncomfortable and frustrated with it.
But I decided to keep going and try and find some time to understand how these cars work, as they feel so different to everything else that I have driven in simracing.
Gradually, I have progressed up through the 80 and 81 cars, and this race at Singapore was truly the first one where I felt that I was driving an 81 Div 2 car at a competitive pace and managed to be close to Geoffers time, which I took to be a good sign of progress.

For me the next step would be to try using the Div 1 cars, but I am a long way off the pace of Erling and Geoffers and Ziu and would be simply running around at the back of the pack. If Tony decides that I should really be running in Div 1 for the rest of the season, then I would give it a go and would not argue.

If Tony decides to run this series again next season with Div 1 cars only, I would have to spend a lot of time practising with these beasts to get up to a speed anything like the front runners. It would also require me to sort out my pitstops, but that is a major problem for me whatever cars we are driving!!!

@ Clive, not my place, or desire,  to dictate which class driver's run in. Do whatever you get the most fun from.

Season 18 is fully allocated now and these cars do not feature.

I would prefer to use cars that can be repaired at pit stops so that probably defines whether we use them again in the future.

Thanks folks for your concern, after I'd removed the hospital supplied, shower proof dressing, I found I could move more freely with less pain. Tuesday we went to WsM to do some business and I had a good walk along the front and ankle freed up more and made driving easier. I was able to put in a few laps on Thursday's RRE race so I hope to drive CanAm on Monday. Grin  rockon
