Btw Clive, noticed some lag from your car when I got close (not turbo lag.. Wink)

Might be worth checking your data rate setting on the server connect screen - seemed to solve the issue in Huggy's case, when he upped the setting from ISDN to Cable.

While you were ice skating yesterday, did you happen to notice your tyre wear values (assuming you have the XD display activated) ?
Really didn't think it would be possible to complete the race on one set of tyres, so curious about it  Smiley

Cheers,
Erling

I cannot remember the exact values left on the tyres, but I know that we were probably 10% left on the worst tyres and maybe 15-20% on the front left ( least worn ). But, I suspect that they only lasted because I was not pushing as hard as some other cars, my lap times will show that I was averaging 3 secs a lap slower than Matt in an identical car. I guess the question is to be asked of Matt too, "Could he have gone the whole race on one set of tyres at that pace???"

If I had, the front right would have been 0% at the rate it was wearing
I went in to pits at about 25% remaining on the front right
I have completed races like that in the past, it's easier than if it was a rear at 0%
Not sure if these tyres blow out or not?

Well, A series of mistakes which all worked out well in the end..

Got home at around 8pm, dragged everything out of the car and left Jo to begin unpacking and powered up the PC and dived straight onto the server. I had already decided I wouldn't actually run any practice laps and given my PB was around 2 minutes due to virtually no practice and little confidence I actually knew my way around a lap at speed I might only put myself in the thick of any possible T1 mayhem. I was aware of the rolling start though which was good so at least I didn't set off like a scalded cat on the green light and wipe out the entire field.

So waited patently for qualy to end and during the quiet time between sessions spotted I was in a Div 1 car which was not in the plan at all. Oh well nothing to be done now, fill it up and see how far it will get before a pit stop is required (Or the tyres fall off).

The lights went green and we are off on the parade lap. I almost disgraced myself before the race had even started for real when I caught turbo boost on the run down from T7 to T8 and nearly rear ended Bob having to take to the run off area. After putting on my spare underwear I set off to catch the rear of the grid with a little more restraint. Once on the SF straight Bill waved Bob and me through so we set off after the pack. I had no idea what others were driving but could see that any hint of a straight line and I could begin to close rapidly on those ahead so presumed I was in the Div 2 pack. Got past Roguk on the entry to the combination of lefts known collectively as T8 and was right behind Eifelblitz by the entry to T9. Followed him and Bob on the run through T11, Eifel attempted a pass to Bob's right and I took the left hand side. Passed both but barely got it stopped in time for T12, ran a little wide but maintained the position through to the SF straight and set off after Clive. Caught Clive again on the run down from T11 to T12 this time making a more civilised route through T12-14 so I was up to 6th and set off after Matt. Reeled him in over the next few laps and was now finding the corners were largely where I had left them last lap and felt I was actually remembering what was coming next. By lap 5 I was plotting my attack and then over confidence meant I lost 6 seconds or so when I lost the rear into T3 which put a hard charging Eifelblitz back in my mirrors. Took another 3 laps to get back behind Matt and again made the pass on the run down to T12 so was up to 5th. Next along (A long way ahead) was Tony and judging by the gap back to the group I was now at the head of I was now chasing Div 1 cars. Suddenly found myself in 4th at the start of lap 10 and noticed Geoffers appeared to have pitted early. watching fuel levels and tyre wear closely trying to work out when to pit found myself in 2nd a long way behind Ziu as both Tony and Erling pitted on lap 13. Pushed the fuel until Lap 16 and finally pitted for fuel and new rubber. Left the pits after a lengthy stop and found myself back in 7th with Erling, Clive, Bob, Tony and Matt all gone through. Caught the Bob Matt battle on around Lap 19 and passed Bob on the run down to T12 and then misjudged Matt's braking point and watched in horror as the gap I was aiming for disappeared, The lightest of nudges and Matt spun. Sorry Matt, no excuse all my fault. Waited for him to rejoin which also let Bob back through, then Matt clipped the inside curb onto the SF straight and spun all on his own so I said thanks and set off after Bob. Caught him on the run down to T9 on lap 20 and he flashed me through only for me to run very deep into the corner but Bob thought better of taking the pass back again. Set off after Clive who was a long way off but at least his tyres would probably be in no better shape than my own so the order of the day was use my speed when possible and maintain station in the corners. Slowly the gap came down and finally caught him around lap 23 and went for the obvious overtake on the run down to T12 but as usual entered way too fast trying to out brake Clive and he said thanks and promptly took the position back again. Finally made the pass stick on the next lap on the entry into T3. Slowly extended the gap and saw Erling approaching to lap us both so waved him through on Lap 25 happy with my 4th place.

So a good result for me considering I started the race in the wrong car and had to re learn what little I had picked up about braking points from the Div 2 version.

Very well driven Erling and congrats to Ziu on making the finish and Tony for the last podium spot.

Thanks all despite all being a bit of a rush to even make the grid it was a blast as usual.

I confess to having a little chuckle when I saw you over shoot, but I knew by then that the pass was inevitable.
