That race was just to good to be true.  Sorry to Erling for his off which gave me 4th, but even with that I never thought I would finish that good.  Just drove the track and had my Mac setup very docile with the suspension and shocks very soft because of the humpty bumps.  Had one "off" going down into the Valley but just zoomed through the weeds and brush and came on before the "light bulb".   I'm sure that Matt and Clive would have pushed me farther back in the field, and I would have had a more normal finish place had they been there.  Well on to Salzburgring.  Am going to try to tame the Cobra there.  Has the top speed for that long straight.

Thanks for the race!!!

I have uploaded eight more photos to Sabercat File Hosting Site folder (Brands Hatch mid 60's Cars). Same Link. Pictures numbered 7 – 14. Sorry if it’s slow to access.

Well, that went better than I had dared hope for.

I seem to have found the "Golden Ticket" as far as the little M1B set up is concerned, at least at Bridgehampton.

Found a qualifying time which beat my previous best by over a second and felt pretty damm good sitting on pole position for the 1st time. Unfortunately it seems that the start fairy has found other things to do on a Monday night and I got mugged off the line 1st by Geoffers and then Erling so was 3rd by T1. Erling ran a little wide at T4 and that was all the invitation I needed to hug the inside and set off after Geoffers in the M6A Managed to get onto his tail by the exit of the lightbulb and was still with him into the final corner. Then a reality check as he just cruised away from me towards T1 and this became the story of the 1st 5 laps or so. Such was the speed difference on the straight I wasn't even touching the brakes through T1-2 just a slight lift to try to carry as much momentum as possible onto the Millstone Straight. Eventually Geoffers put 2 wheels on the sand exiting "Echo Valley" and I got through. Slowly eased away over the following laps only to get it very wrong into T9 at the end of the "Valley of the Lefts" and was lucky not to go straight on and do an Erling. Fortunately a spin back across the track and hurt pride was the only result (Apart from losing 5 seconds of my precious lead). The rest of the race was pretty uneventful. Lapping other cars could have been a nightmare here being so narrow and bumpy but everyone was really considerate. The only issue I had was catching Tony's McLaren as he was making a lot of smoke and I couldn't judge exactly where he was on the track. I saw Erling slide across the track in front of Geoffers and me early on as we exited LightBulb and later saw a Chappy pointing at me 12 o/c High at the same place as they launched themselves out of the undergrowth.

There seems a definite pecking order in these. The McLarens generally seem fairly closely matched (Other than top speed of the Little M1B) and also the Chaparrals are similar but different and a good match for the McLarens. The Lola's are a bit disappointing and I don't get on with them, the 350 seeming to be the best of a bad bunch to me. I've used up both my McLaren rides now and while I know where I'm running the Chaparrals (and by default the Lola's) I still have no idea which Lola's to run and I think I'm in for a few lean races with those.

Also.. Tony asked me about rolling starts and I said I wasn't aware they used them. Well as the youtube link posted by Eifelblitz shows they were used, further digging shows a rolling start was used at Road America as well.. Should we consider using them for the remainder of the series? Would it make life easier? (Just thinking out loud).

For anyone who still has M1B rides left I've uploaded the set up I used at Bridgehampton (In the Bridgehampton folder). Not sure if it will translate to the M1B 377ci as well but if anyone wants to download it as a starting point for other tracks be my guest.

Very uneventful race for me which is unusual at Bridgehampton as I usually end up off track somewhere or another. But the car was great to drive but with very soft suspension. The steering was still unnerved by the rough track though. It seems that having the revs set at there highest produced a trail of white smoke but only on the uphill start/finish straight. Sorry to other drivers for the visibility problems I was inadvertently causing.
