Notes:
(1) It's best if all drivers can make sure they are connected before the Qualifying session as drivers on track during qualifying will not see cars that join after they are on track until they go back to the garage.
(2) Please make sure you are fully aware of the SimRacing.org.uk Rules.
(3) The AI control should be turned off so that you have control of the car at all times, including pitting. Your player file should therefore read
Autopit="0"
Force Autopit Off="1" // Forces autopit always off
No AI Control="1" // AI never has control over car
If you still finding pitting problematic, experience tells us that its less to do with positioning and more to do with approach speed. A slow approach to pit crew chief has proved most reliable.

Once again, due to my missing the braking zone, I had to abort to avoid t-boning Geoffers the leader.

Sigh!  Another very short race to report - screen crashed to desktop twice ( no doubt to the consternation of others when my car wandered about all over the place while I fumbled to get it back - you can't just stop a Cobra on grass!) thus putting me once again way behind everyone, continued losing distance, and interest, with every passing lap... and getting a nagging pain in the upper right arm to boot, which didn't help. Finally called it quits. Moan, Groan etc...  Roll Eyes

Hi Huggy,
Are you running AVG by any chance?

Their last update seems to screw around with GTL (and GPL).

Terrible race for me. Qualified in 5th which was about where I expected. Got a good start held position and we all followed each other through the 1st few corners. Tony dived up the inside at Harnalen and I didn't see him until it was too late so forcing me wide onto the grass. Got back on track and noticed Tony had slowed (If it was to wait for me no need, just a racing incident). But others slowed also. This meant I arrived a bit more quickly than I anticipated and had to take to the grass so lost about 10s on the rest of the pack.

Set about trying to chase them down then I found I had forgotten to disable AVG and GTL minimised to desktop as I headed towards T1 a few laps later. Tried to get the car stopped by sound alone but was rewarded with a very loud bang as I hit the tyres. Got GTL BACK and found my front left was US crawled around to the pits and waited patiently while my car was rebuilt.

That was effectively race over for me as I had been lapped by the time I got back into the race and knew  no one needed a to pit unless for damage.

Was able to match those ahead on lap times but not able to make any impression on the gap to Tony and Bob ahead so simply got it to the finish 2laps down on Geoffers and the lap due to my crash on most others..

Enjoyed it though as usual, congrats to the podium.

Gellerasen will never be a favorite of mine, and neither will the 904, so wasn't looking forward to this race.  Ironically then, that I end up having not only some great racing, but also a good result.

Improved my pb in pre race practice, with a 15.2 lap. Improved it again in qual, with a 15.0, which was needed, as Clive had posted a 15.2 also  Shocked  Still surprised to be 3rd on grid and quickest 904, as I've never felt comfortable in that car.  Did an ok start, retaining 3rd, but Clive sneaked past on the inside at T1.  That was the start of a wild chase that would last for 2/3 of the race. Testament to the intensity, that we both matched our qual times, but under race conditions  Smiley  Most laps, the gap was under 1 sec.  Took a lot of concentration not to rear end Clive when I got really close - he tended to brake a little earlier, and some of my brake markers were far off the track, so difficult to keep an eye on both at the same time  Shocked

Chase went on for 23 laps, before an opportunity presented itself.  Clive finally went a bit wide in the final hairpin, allowing me to pull alongside on the inside.  We were side by side down the start/finish straight. As T1 approached, Clive had nosed ahead, but I held the inside line. Regrettably Clive overshot, diving into the sand, which effectively ended our close duel.

For much of our chase, Ziu's car had been not far ahead of us. I was looking forward to seeing whether I could catch and pass him, once his Cobra's tyres liquefied completely. Sadly wasn't to be, as I soon passed his stationary car, apparently in the process of a disco. Thus inherited 2nd. Geoffers was 40+ secs ahead and still moving away; no chance of catching him obviously, so just made sure the gap back to Clive didn't start dropping alarmingly and concentrated on not doing anything stupid.

Grats to Geoffers on a commanding win, and Clive on 3rd.  Commiserations to the AVG victims and Ziu of course - you didn't lose 26 points; you lost 13 at the most, and that's providing you could hold on to 2nd to the end  Wink

Cheers,
Erling

I can confirm John's concerns over the latest AVG update and its effect on important matters like simracing etc. If it is not disabled completely before joining a race server there are nasty consequences!! In GTL, like John, I would lose graphics as the screen drops back to desktop but with that terrifying soundtrack of things continuing unseen somewhere  Shocked. Strangely, in GPL it is the sound that vanishes and the picture continues!! but I find that almost as bad if I cannot hear the engine note??!

Anyway having beaten the AVG software over the head with a large shovel before this race I was hoping for a smoother ride than in the Capri fest last week.
I tried the Cobra in the 15 minutes of pre race practice and, although it was undoubtedly fast, I suspected that my uncultured right foot would shred those tyres inside 10 laps, so I had to find something else to play with. I'm still not entirely happy with that front wheel handling, rear wheel drive Alpine, so thought....." maybe it's time to give the Porker a poke?"

Arnold rolled out a nice red Porsche and I guessed at the fuel requirements + 3 laps and gave it a spin ( or two!!). Some frantic changing of gear ratios and diff settings during quali edged me closer to Erling's time, but nowhere near those laps of Geoffers and Ziu.
I think I must have been running some ratios that were very different to Erling's car because initially he got a better start, but somewhere around 3 rd gear I was able to outdrag him into T1 and sneak 3rd spot.
As he says above, there followed a very intense battle for about 20+ laps. Initially I was keeping the titanic struggle of Ziu and Geoffers in sight and hoping that they would destroy their tyres before I scorched mine. Any thoughts of being easy on my rubber were compromised by Erling's insistence on never being more than a second behind!! There were places where the different gear ratios allowed me a better exit from some corners and there were other places where he was better on the brakes ( something I still have problems with in GTL).
Most frustrating for me was the missed/double downshifts that my G25 gearshift was throwing into the mix. Every time I squeezed the gap up to around 1 sec and thought I might just be able to pull a gap, it would catch me out. ( I suspect that this is because I was looking everywhere for the possible glitches that AVG were responsible for and might have altered a setting in Logitech?).
That is what happened on that final hairpin when instead of 2nd gear I got neutral!! and ran wide struggling to avoid the kitty litter. Erling did not need a second invitation and he pounced. I was still working out which gear I was in when we got to the end of the straight and this time it stayed in 3rd, Undecided when I wanted second. Erlings was gone ninja
It quickly became obvious with the now well worn rubber that although I could match his pace, any attempt to try and catch him was going to end in tantrums before bedtime. So I hoped for a rare mistake from those ahead and just tried to keep things steady until the end, although I still managed a spin when Geoffers growled past to lap me!

Grats to Geoffers and Erling, commiserations to Ziu who only seems to get bad luck? ( might be worth checking your AV Ziu? )

Surprised only two of us used the Alpine here, it was clearly the best car for this track.

First 10 laps or so were good fun trying to find a way past Ziu's mighty Cobra. Managed it a couple of times near the end of the lap only to be blitzed on the S/F straight. Eventually Ziu made a mistake at Jarnkurvan & ran wide & I could nip through on the inside, I think he then got on the grass & allowed me to make a proper escape. Rest of the race was just a case of not pushing too hard into corners as the Alpine seems prone to corner entry oversteer if you do. Thanks to all who moved over when being lapped.  thumbup1

Congrats to Erling & Clive  clap clap

Bad luck to Ziu, Huggy & John. Don't worry too much about the points situation Ziu, I will miss 2 races later in this series (Mugello & Nurburgring) due to holidays.  Sad Grin
