Won't be able to drive in todays race at Spa in the Cobra.  Have some pinched nerves in my lower back that are causing a lot of lower back pain plus both thighs.  Doc gave me some stuff for the pain and also ant-inflamitory/muscle relaxer.Said I shouldn't drive till he checks me again next week.  And if I can't drive our Taurus I damm sure shouldn't drive the Cobra, don't want to knock any of you guys out of the race because of my bad reactions or lack of focus....Maybe next week at Oulton Park.  Have a great race guys, will watch the Replay later.............

Very disappointing performance again from my side - had hoped for a good one as I like the track/car combo.

Better times will come. CU next week.

Terrible connection from my end tonight, Cars warping all over the place. Obviously my end at fault, Decided to call it a night before I caused any accidents.

First of all a get well soon to Bob; missed you yesterday, so hope you're back and fit for fight next Monday.

Never been fond of the Cobra.  There's something fundamental about driving and/or setting it up that's always eluded me.  Confirmed again yesterday, when Clive made me look like a snail.  Aside from being slow in it, my main gripe has always been the unpredictable way it will suddenly veer left or right under braking, often causing me to lose control.  Thus Spa'67 with long straights, wide open curves and minimal braking seemed tailormade for it.  Surprised not everyone had saved a Cobra drive for it, but Ziu may have known something, with that phantom pole time in the Alpine. Great shame he stuffed it on L1, as he looked like a clear winner.

Was lucky to slip past Ziu before he returned from the embankment, thus escaping the ensuing mayhem.  Race quite uneventful, but very intense, as it was one long, relentless chase from Geoffers.  First half I had a gap of around 2 secs, but in the 2nd half, it started coming down, as my tyres slowly melted.  May also just have been Geoffers getting faster and faster, as my laptimes didn't suffer all that much.  Eventually he was close enough to get a tow, negating my one advantage. Getting past was a different matter though, as I believe the Fezza didn't have sufficient grunt, once he pulled out from the Cobra's shadow.  Tried to keep a cool head and stand my ground, but not easy with Geoffers parked in your trunk. Would have thought he could outbrake me before the final hairpin, but he never attempted it - at least not as far as I can tell.   Last lap was hairy, but he ran wide in the 2nd left-right zig zag, giving me a much needed breather.  Thanks to Geoffers for a great race, congrats for 3rd, congrats to Clive for the win and the 2nd slot in the Championship.  Commiserations to Ziu for that early mishap, but congrats for 3rd in Championship.

Series has been great, with some agonizing car choices required, which tends to keep things interesting  Smiley

Another quiet race for me with a silly mistake at the very end. At the beginning I had to brake to avoid the wayward car of Ziu and accidentally side swiped another car but I don't think this collision resulted in any consequence. Threaded my way through the mess and set off after the cars that had got away up the hill. Soon caught Matt and was able to pass near La Carriere when his Ferrari was less inclined to take the turns at speed, which I could do in the Alpine. Had Jeep some way up the road and eventualy caught him approaching La Source where he politely span off in front of me. No way of catching the lead group so settled for a 4th place finish. Must of been day dreaming but as I approached Blanchimont fo the final time I made a complete horlick's of the turn, ran up the embankment, over the wall and into Nirvana.
So well done all finishers. I wouldn't beat yourself up Ziu, you tagged the kerb and made a mistake. Hands up anyone who hasn't done similar at sometime?

Really enjoyed that one, Spa is such a great track in all its forms.

Having missed a couple of these races, I had 3 cars to chose from for this one. I knew what Erling, Ziu & Clive would be driving, so went with the Ferrari for a bit of variety. Knew Erling & Clive would probably be quicker in their Cobras but it came as quite a surprise how fast the Alpine was around here, just did not consider it would be anywhere near fast enough on the long straights even though it would be quicker through the corners.

At the start the front three got away ahead but Ziu's Alpine suddenly shot left going up to Radillion & I only just avoided being taken out by it as it came back down off the bank. Set off after the two Cobras ahead, could not stay with them initially but hoped that as their tyres wore I could catch them in the second half of the race. Kept Erling in sight & as the race wore on I was getting closer but Cobra power was always enough to ease away on the straights so that I was never close enough to try an overtake. Got alongside once coming out of Stavelot, where the Ferrari was much quicker, but that was as close as I got.

Any hope of a last ditch attempt at 2nd place evaporated on the last lap when I just put a wheel off track approaching La Carriere, it was just enough to pull the car off line & I had to slow right down to get around the corner & Erling was gone. Well done Erling, great drive under pressure.

Congrats to Clive & Erling  clap clap

Also congrats to Erling on a 2nd championship & Clive & Ziu in 2nd & 3rd.  clap clap clap. Shame I had to miss a couple of races.  Sad Don't you guys ever go on holiday! lol.

Well I have just had 2 weeks away!!, how much more holiday would you like me to take??? I'm sure my wife would be easily persuaded!!!  Roll Eyes I am assuming that you wish to contribute to the holiday fund???

Grats to Erling..again....for a consistent series of races where he rarely drops points. I hope that Ziu will reconsider his retirement from UKGTL, he is always fast and seems to find the extra seconds that us mere mortals only dream of.  Undecided
I have not seen the replay of last night's race so cannot really comment on what went wrong for Ziu, when he was a certain winner in that Uber Alpine. My start was not perfect but I was aware that Ziu's was bad, when I shot past him as I short shifted into 2nd. That was a little scary, because I was not sure exactly where Ziu was as we plunged into Eau Rouge.....was he in my blind spot???  I tried to leave some space just in case he was still there, but by the time I hit the uphill straight I knew I was alone.
Assuming that Ziu had just screwed up the start, I fully expected him to catch me within a lap or two and probably tow Erling and Geoffers along too. When I got through Malmedy and looked at the mirror and the positions behind, there was a moment of confusion because there was no Ziu???
Erling and Geoffers were following and about 2 secs back, so I assumed that there had been an incident and Ziu's arrival at the front had been delayed for a lap or two. With his pole lap pace there was no way that I could stay ahead of him for 12 laps!!
Then I saw that Ziu had quit!!!! and I was slowly pulling away from Erling.....oooooh!!  Shocked
At 5 laps paranoia set in. I knew that the Cobra would be heavy on the tyres and, although I had tried to build a setup that did not consume rubber at a ridiculous rate my track record shows " heavy right foot syndrome".
Was Erling playing clever and driving to save his tyres?? allowing me to run away but burn out by lap 9, so that he could sweep past with all that extra grip on the final lap as I removed myself from the scenery??
I had a 5-6 second lead and I decided that I would drive to keep that gap and ignore my actual pace. The rate of tyre wear until half distance indicated that there would not be much left after 12 laps, if I maintained my early pace. So I watched the gap and just responded after each lap, trying to maintain 5 secs. Geoffers was not out of the picture either, as that Fezza is very gentle on it's tyres and he could be a serious threat in the final laps if things went t*ts up in the tyre dept!!

Short shifting......braking much earlier..... and just tickling the gas out of the corners, until the car was straight and then feeding in the horsepower very gently. By lap 10 I was reasonably confident that Erling's tyres were no better than mine, because he was not closing the gap. So I decided to sacrifice up to 2secs a lap from then on just to avoid any dumb mistakes with a very twitchy Cobra.

FWIW Erling. I find that the Cobra is like a shopping trolley on ice!! It almost feels like the FFB has stopped working and the steering is ultra light with a huge deadspot in the straight ahead position??
I genuinely work harder on the straights trying to keep the ruddy thing going where it is supposed to, than I do in the corners!! I dare not use the full width of the tarmac because it just wanders from side to side by about 2 metres when at full speed. In the corners, with a diff that gives me a little oversteer, both in coast or power, I can always pull the nose back to the apex and If I need to get aggressive, I can powerslide the beast through the fast sweepers. But that costs rubber.

Thanks Clive; I would have loved for you to burn out by lap 9 and me cleverly swooping past, but nothing of the sort unfortunately - I went as fast as I could for the entire race  Smiley

The wandering from side to side; I do remember that, but somehow seem to have dialled it out with my setup, but can't say which parameters did it. Cobra was almost rock steady in a straight line for me yesterday, but whether I have sacrificed raw speed to achieve it, I can't say, as I couldn't tell where you were faster.
