Early bath again. Sorry Kurt for hit up back at start.  Embarrassed Think it bent something as car just wouldn't drive around the fast curves but ran wide into tyre walls, getting progressively worse.  Shocked

No problem Bill. My fault - my usual start like a sleeping pill  Roll Eyes

Hi guys. Too bad I couldnt make it to the race. Even though I
would not be very competitive, I would have liked to race.
No worries. Will try to be at the upcoming event.
Already downloaded the track, and done a couple of practice laps.
About the frame rate issues on some tracks, even though I
have little to no issues, I used to have a few frame drops, speccially
at le mans 1977, and then I did the 4 gig patch, to allow the game
more ram usage, and also set the priority to high, in the plr file,
which makes the game run on high priority. All in all I gained about
5 fps and the frame drops went away. Maybe this will help someone.

Cheers,

jg
Hope to see you at Watkins then. BTW you can also set the affinity for GTL in Windows Task Manager to run on all cores not just one.

Heck, I find these cars a real trial to setup and drive. Whoever thought this champ up needs sacking  wacko

Thanks to Kurt though, last night's race turned out to be great fun. We were both running at about the same pace and both of us swopped places due to our unforced errors. I won in the end but it could so easily have been reversed. So thanks Kurt, good close racing and loads of lol's.

I found that setting the affinity to be all (which I hadn't bothered to try until Reinhard suggested it)
made a huge difference to frame rate, instead of running 100% on one core it spread the load across
all 4 to some extent. I have not yet figured how to set it permanently.  Huh

Shame I was dumb enough to not read the required skins link..... It looked like I would be a bit competitive
as I was dipping into the 24s

Decent race for me, finished better than I thought I would.  Not really action packed but because the GT40  takes all my focus wasn't at all boring.  First few laps John and I had a small battle going.  Then my rear tires heated up and he got by me.  Followed him for a while and then noticed he was having tire troubles so decided to pressure him a little and he spun it just before the last straight and must had wounded his car some because he fell back and didn't really challenge me again.  About the half way point I started to see Steve way off in the distance and tried to close on him but couldn't put any fast laps together to gain on him.  Gain a little and then the rears would get slimey and no grip.  At about L17 or so just decided to just bring the beast home...
Just watched the replay of our podium drivers for the first half of the race.  You guys really are very talented and great drivers.  Too bad Geoff got roughed up or would have been four up there and even more exciting.  Grats to you guys.  Welcome to Mr Berger, I remember you from some years back in the GC-GTC races.  Another alien,  was a master Porker driver if I remember right....Good fun and thanks to Tony for the series, when I first saw it I internally groaned "OH No" not the GT40.  But spent a lot of time trying to tame it and was good fun after all!!!

There's a small program you can use for that: SetAffinity.exe.  You simply use it to launch GTL - my shortcut for GTL reads like this: ....\GTL\SetAffinity.exe 1 GTL.exe  (The 1 does not mean 'use 1 core', but rather 'use all cores').  I can mail to you if you like.

Thanks to Bob for his very kind words.  Wish I truly deserved them, but can't relly mix it with the likes of Berger, Ziu & Geoffers for the most parts too - I just pick up the pieces once in a while when they get it wrong...  Wink

Cheers,
Erling

PS:  Anyone else have the peculiar 'black wheels' problem I mentioned in my report ?

Results

Cool

Great fun indeed - also at the back of the pack  Smiley Thanks Tony!

And also without one single lap of practice before 8pm. Sometimes unexpected surprises happen.

Used a stock setup for Zolder delivered with the original mod with some slight adjustments only and was surprised positively.

Have run the replay again as Erling suggested and all cars do indeed now show up. I think my maintaining the lead was helped a little by what was going on behind me....... Undecided

Never had these problems still using a computer, cpu and graphic card from 2008, but maybe I'm not enough sighted out in technical matters.

That's a different one I think. May be a smarter solution, if you don't have to use the affinity program each time you start GTL.

Thanks Steve & Tony.  Relieved to her it's not only me.  Upgraded video card & drivers recently, which seems to have produced some strange flicker from car headlights in my Cadwell replay.  Feared the black wheels were another anomaly.

Kurt's link if for XP but I think from correspondence it works OK on Win 7. Which is best for Win 7? Also can it be loaded as part of start up to benefit web browsing etc?

Experience, advice would be appreciated.  Grin
