Notes:
(1) It's best if all drivers can make sure they are connected before the Qualifying session as drivers on track during qualifying will not see cars that join after they are on track until they go back to the garage.
(2) Please make sure you are fully aware of the SimRacing.org.uk Rules.
(3) The AI control should be turned off so that you have control of the car at all times, including pitting. Your player file should therefore read
Autopit="0"
Force Autopit Off="1" // Forces autopit always off
No AI Control="1" // AI never has control over car
If you still finding pitting problematic, experience tells us that its less to do with positioning and more to do with approach speed. A slow approach to pit crew chief has proved most reliable.

IMPORTANT

Once qualification has started drivers may not leave to change class/make/car. They may leave to change skins.

Next Monday To avoid that Erling using his telepathic powers to know which car I will drive I decided to extract my car with a black bandage on my eyes, as it is used in the lotteries, one minute before to entering on the server

I could, but there is the risk that I can ram someone.
To make you happy the only solution is keep a rolling start step for 20 laps with me ahead

The 70's circuit's certainly very different to what we're used to today. I'd forgotten how much it's changed.

Currently lapping low 50's in 1275 with race fuel but hopefully can trim a little more off by tomorrow evening when sober.

Very sorry to have missed tonight's race  :'(

My sound started dropping out less than an hour before the race.  Swapped cables around to no end, used contact cleaner and made driver changes.  Suspected that the troublesome AMD video drivers I had installed earlier today had a part to play (there's a Hi-def audio part in those drivers; probably for the HDMI ports on the video cards).  So I tried going back to an earlier version, even though I don't get my sound from the HDMI outputs, but still suspected the drivers had screwed something up.  Sound was cutting out at such regular intervals, that it was difficult to believe it was mechanically related.   Also tried system restore, but to no avail; just got worse and worse, until I ran out of time.

Had to dig out my venerable old Sound Blaster Audigy 2 SZ and go look for Win7 drivers. Luckily they're available and I now have sound again.

Bummed about missing the race. Wanted to drive the Camaro - it was the first car I tested, and proved to be such a nice drive on this track, that I never tried any of the others.

Cheers,
Erling

Strange - but I never used the Imp online in this series up to now. Will make a new install.

Little to say, i choose Boss 302 Sunday because my first choice was Capri 2600, in facts it was very easy to drive especially on input corners i could get 1:38 without any problem although i dont liked the braked to hard on front wheels and this was uncomfortable for me so i thought that if 1:17,2 was the pole with Ferrari 312-66 the difference with Boss302 could be around at 20 seconds, 1:37 so fast 1:36 so i challenged myself, if i get 1:36 with Boss302 i pick it.
And  has been so 1:38,8  38,2 little modification on setup 1:37,5 i back on setup page and i shift a little more the brake on the rear and....1:36,8 got !

About qualy and race it s gone all fine also if i got my best during the race, but with Boss302 not is strange.

I like old Silverstone but the start grid is wronged ! Not is possible that pole position is on internal line, it mean that the 4th on the grid have a great advantage on the start, also one year ago with F167 i got a good start but i was just 3th at Copse, it mean that the next time i will prefer be 4th on the grid here at Silverstone 70  Roll Eyes

We knew that Geoffers cannot join but i was surprised to not see Erling. Well the first thing that i thought has been.......it will be an other strategy of The Professor  Roll Eyes ? Unfortunately no ! It s strange and sad not to find Erling on the grid, sometime with Geoffers happened but since i m racing with you i dont remember that missed Erling. Sorry Erling.

Grats to Matt and Misnoimis  and Grats to the others class winners especially Bill !

This version of Silverstone is the one from the original GPL, so I had no excuse for not knowing the track. Knowing that this is a "power" track decided which car group to use, but which one of those beasts?
In the end, I reasoned that maybe knowing the track might allow me to extract a result from that 'orrible Capri balancing one against the other.

Grats to Ziu on a dominant pace and to Misnomis and Matt on the podium.

I found that a few tweaks to the setup made the car a little more driveable and I was able to get sub 1:40 on race fuel....well I say "race fuel", but as qually progressed I realised that I was actually carrying almost 40 laps worth??!!, so just before the start I dropped about 20 litres of fuel and hoped that the loss of that weight did not upset the handling.
The start, 4 abreast, was a real elbows out event, with those big bully Boss guys muscling down to Copse was exciting...and scary!
Made it through Copse with John doing his best to ease me out of the way in his Boss, but I was keeping pace with the leading cars.
Lap 1 was really intense with plenty of paint samples exchanged until I finally got clear of John and set off after Misnomis who was running 3rd, with Ziu already stretching away and Matt who was in 2nd. Matt later had a computer issue and we passed him grass cutting on Hangar straight, so we were up to 2nd and 3rd.
The race was huge fun as I used the slightly better handling of the Capri against the power of the Boss Mustang ahead. I don't think we were ever more than 1.5 secs apart, for almost the whole race. I got alongside a couple of times as the tyres on the Mustang appeared to be wearing down. (I was amazed that the tyres on the Capri just did not seem to be suffering? I think at the end of the race the HUD showed the green had dropped by only about 1mm!!). Just when I felt that there was going to be an opportunity to steal 2nd place in the last laps, I made a dumb mistake and clipped the inside wall at Stowe, throwing me wide and losing valuable seconds. It was worse than that, because the handling was not quite right after that and the car seemed to have a little too much oversteer into the fast corners. Matt caught and passed me and any dreams of 2nd place were dashed.
In fact after yet another spin Tony rushed into view and I was in danger of losing yet another place!! But in true gentlemanly fashion he elected to demonstrate his aerial car skills and performed a double spin with airborne two and a half rotations complete with smoke and fire on the exit of Abbey  Wink. I then had a quiet cruise to the flag....still with 7 galls of fuel left???

I really enjoyed the race and my third place overall (although I was only third of the three Boss Stangs in the race).  I remember Silverstone from the mid-sixties, it has changed a lot from those times. At least they had a pit wall in the 1970 version.

I was tempted to take the Capri as I thought the handling a bit more civilised but in the end went for the power and sound of the Boss Stang (the only car in these classes I have never owned a variant of). I know Silverstone is a very fast track.

I practiced the start as I think the Stang is a bit difficult to get off the line. Starting the race four abreast was interesting, I made a great start and led into the first corner. With Ziu behind me and about 3 seconds a lap quicker I decided not to fight him too hard as I did not want to be hassled into a mistake early in the race. I needn’t have worried, he went past me like he had an extra 100 BHP at his disposal and gradually pulled away and out of my sight. I had a short battle with Matt until he must have managed a really good exit from a corner, got alongside me placing his car perfectly so I had to give way. I hung on for a while but he gradually pulled a gap.

The best part of the race for me was a battle with Clive in the Capri. Although he never got past we were side by side at times. He was always there keeping the pressure on. At times I pulled a slight gap but he always seemed to close it again, usually after we had lapped someone. Towards the end of the race we passed a recovering Matt who had been on the grass, I must have lifted my foot for a split second for as we past him Clive was almost in my boot.  Clive then overcooked it and the pressure was gone. I was just thinking I could get second here when I realised I had a charging Matt closing on me. I think he was about a second a lap quicker than me and after a bit of side by side racing he forged ahead just before the last lap.

However I enjoyed the race and was pleased I never left the tarmac. All my errors were small. I would like a bit more pace but don’t know where to find it.

Grats to Winner and Second and all Class Winners.  clap

Yes! I maintained and added to my supremely consistent record of last-place finishes, but that wasn't decided until the very last lap when the on-going duel between Steve and I in the Class B 1275 Minis, which had been great fun throughout with several passes back and forth, went his way with a well-timed pass in the spot he obviously sussed out as being where my high geared car would be vulnerable.  We managed to stay out of the way of all you guys with the big bangers I think, and some points were earned. Good fun!  Cheesy
