Time of Day Setting: 14:00

Notes:
(1) It's best if all drivers can make sure they are connected before the Qualifying session as drivers on track during qualifying will not see cars that join after they are on track until they go back to the garage.
(2) Please make sure you are fully aware of the SimRacing.org.uk Rules.
(3) The AI control should be turned off so that you have control of the car at all times, including pitting. Your player file should therefore read
Autopit="0"
Force Autopit Off="1" // Forces autopit always off
No AI Control="1" // AI never has control over car
If you still finding pitting problematic, experience tells us that its less to do with positioning and more to do with approach speed. A slow approach to pit crew chief has proved most reliable.

Drivers should be checking all future races and ensuring that they have an appropriate Class car reserved for these races.

Replay and results now posted.

Ziu, any idea why the results show you as DQ'd? (I've removed it, I'm sure you did nothing wrong).

Lots of tactical considerations before this race.  With Ziu out of Class D drives, and Geoffers absent, a win seemed a distinct possibility.  Missing the previous Silverstone race due to computer issues, I had one Camaro and one free-for-all (Boss) drive left.  Prepared for both, logging on in the Camaro to see what everyone else was driving - would be quite a scoop if I could bag a win in that car!

Initially only Kurt was in a Boss. Of course couldn't match his speed with the Camaro, but I rather shamefully put my money on him falling off during the race, and stuck with the Camaro.  There was of course always the risk that a late comer would join during qual, in a Boss or Capri.  As qual was starting, it suddenly dawned on me that Tony probably can see from server admin what we're driving, and would no doubt have spotted an easy win.  Whether pre-planned or spur of the moment, as feared, he turned up in a Boss.  At this point it was clear I had gambled and lost: Couldn't expect both to fall off, and couldn't change to the Boss any longer.

Instead I got one heck of a race with Bob. Had been comfortably ahead of him in qual, so never foresaw him becoming such a problem (quite a lot I failed to predict in this race - a career move into clairvoyance is probably not in the cards...  Roll Eyes)  Got ahead of Kurt at the start, but he easily moved past on L2.  For the remainder of the race, I had Bob's Escort up my tail pipes.  Unsurprisingly, he was quicker through the corners, but the expected straight line advantage of the Camaro never materialized - maybe he was always within towing distance ?   Once he moved out of it however, he seemed to run out of puff, and never quite made it past.  What it meant for me was no running wide and no room for other screw-ups in the corners, despite being on the ragged edge all 20 laps - that was tough  sweatdrop

As the race wore on, and my tyres did likewise, it didn't make the task any easier.  Bob was inching closer, so I had to ignore the tyre wear and drive like it wasn't there.  Not sure how I survived that..   Thanks to Bob for a very intense race - and for being patient; know how frustrating it is to be behind a slower cornering car, with a driver who refuses to move off the line..  Wink

Grats to Tony & Kurt - glad you made it to the finish, even if it drops me to 3rd (and last in class..)  Smiley

Cheers,
Erling

Grats to Tony and Kurt for getting the top steps of the podium and to Erling for being Mr Consistent and picking up points for 3rd. Many thanks to Matt for suggesting, (and Tony for allowing me) to change my Imp for one with extra power.

I had simply selected the first Imp at random, assuming that they were all more or less the same. But, following Matt's suggestion I dragged a nice yellow one out of the transporter. This all took place rather late during qualifying and there was a frantic few minutes as I tried to transfer the setup from the original Imp to the new one. The gear ratios were the biggest hurdle, but I finally got them sorted as qually ended.

Once the race started it took me a lap or two getting to grips with the new car and the extra speed gave the opportunity to challenge Matt's mini. Once I got my head around the slightly different handling, I discovered that I was significantly quicker through some corners than Matt and I was actually backing off.......................Matt might regret his advice over which Imp I could use. devil
I followed Matt in those early laps until he ran wide at Stowe and I took my chance and tried to get away.
It was good plan, which might have worked as I clocked a 1:49.5 lap once in clear air, until my shifter decided to intervene. Matt probably noticed a few excursions of mine into the countryside at various corners.

I was having problems with downshifts into corners. Mostly it worked fine, but sometimes it would go from 4th to 2nd and lock the rear wheels with disastrous results. Sometimes it ignored the instruction to downshift and remained in 4th, which caused me to plough straight on.  A strip down of my shifter and some contact cleaning is on the cards, and I am not letting Arnold do this job!!

The series of mistakes dropped me further and further back and in the end Matt had a comfortable class win. The more powerful Imp was a revelation and the setup worked well for me, so next time......... Roll Eyes

I wondered why you suddenly jinked left when you should have been turning right  Roll Eyes

I did wait for you at least twice when you wandered off angel Naturally I wanted the class win, but if you'd stayed in
your original Imp, I would have had a very boring race.

it suddenly dawned on me that Tony probably can see from server admin what we're driving,
Unfortunately I cannot. I can only see drivers names and chat.

Yes Matt, I did realise that you waited, and many thanks for that. At least it kept things interesting for the first half of the race.

The first jink to the left got a similar response from me...." duh!??? I thought I was turning right here??  Undecided"

.... and to Erling for being Mr Consistent and picking up points for 3rd.

That wasn't all that hard - could have parked the car after 1 lap and gone watch Game of Thrones, and still scored the same class position...  Wink

Getting on the overall podium though, was bloody hard work!

Cheers,
Erling
