Time of Day Setting: 14:00

Fuel consumption: Normal

Server: simracing.org.uk Monday
Password: see above

Notes:
(1) It's best if all drivers can make sure they are connected before the Qualifying session as drivers on track during qualifying will not see cars that join after they are on track until they go back to the garage.
(2) Please make sure you are fully aware of the SimRacing.org.uk Rules.
(3) The AI control should be turned off so that you have control of the car at all times, including pitting. Your player file should therefore read
Autopit="0"
Force Autopit Off="1" // Forces autopit always off
No AI Control="1" // AI never has control over car
If you still finding pitting problematic, experience tells us that its less to do with positioning and more to do with approach speed. A slow approach to pit crew chief has proved most reliable.

IMPORTANT

Once qualification has started drivers may not leave to change class/make/car. They may leave to change skins.

With a little time on my hands I thought I would peruse the upcoming races and where I might have to do some practice.

Mallory next for the saloons, and I have just realised that this is a double header!!!  That means a change of car for each round too  Undecided

By some miracle I have cars that I can use for both rounds and still have a car for the Brands Hatch finale?? I'm not quite sure how I managed to do that as there was no pre-planning involved from my side. Maybe it was Tony's cunning setup of the series that guaranteed that we all had the right cars at the end??? Wink

I still have one Mini that I will have to use at Mallory for the smaller class race, which means I am going to have to wrestle with a front wheel drive car again. Watch out for a Mini weaving wildly from side to side round that long right hander???

My first attempts this afternoon netted a 55 sec lap as a PB. If I can tame the setup to my liking I might knock a couple of secs off that on a banzai lap,  but I suspect that the resident Mini experts might be closer to regular 50 sec laps??

Fishing for laptimes again are we, Mr Evil ?   Grin

You could take a look at the times in this 2014 race (with yourself in a Mini...  Wink):

LOL!!!  hardly fishing.....more like wishing for lap times. I just have no feel for these front wheel drive boxes, it all feels counter intuitive to me.

But I confess, I had forgotten completely that I had raced a Mini here before. Actually quite chuffed that I managed a 55 sec lap today in an 850 mini and back then it was all I could do in a 1275 version. Is that progress???

Probably not Clive!  whistling

The 68 970 Mini (not 850  Roll Eyes) is probably capable of around the same laptime as the default GTL Mini that you used in that race. The 68 1275 we are using this time will be about 1s faster.

Am I right, that Huggy may not participate in this one as he has no drives left for Class C and D?

Yep.

But if he wants to race he can. But he must not take part in qualy (starts last on the grid) and he will not score any points, or appear in the results tables.

Awww! Thanks for bursting my confidence bubble Geoffers  Undecided
For almost a whole day I thought my front wheel drive abilities had marginally improved!!??  Sad   ( I had not actually noticed that we had all those 970cc's to use.....must read the race posts properly  Huh )

It was good to manage a race online again. The evening was nearly very enjoyable for me. I had only connected up my GTL stuff again during the middle of last week.

In the first race I seemed to be surrounded by minis. As they were better under breaking on some corners but I had a better top speed it was interesting. I had a poor start but was closing in on two duelling minis in front of me, Roger and Clive and wondering where I could try a pass when I got really slowed by their battle at the hairpin and Tony and Bob got passed me. I had managed to pass Bob and thought I had passed Tony on the outside of T1 but had to slow slightly as I pulled across in order to make the turn and probably didn’t leave him room, sorry. I got a nudge that put me on the grass and out of the battle. There weren’t enough laps left for me to quite catch-up but it was fun.

The second race was going O K until I just slightly overcooked it out of the hairpin (damn hairpin) and fell out of front six battles. I was driving the RS1600 and spent the race chasing after Ziu in the slightly slower FVA. I had him in my sights but was not going to catch him. I was on the final straight on the last lap and about to cruise over the line in fifth place when a flashing white ghost car suddenly appeared right in front of me from nowhere. It wasn’t a ghost. I don’t know why it was flashing but I hit it and summersaulted into the air coming to rest on the grass with a dead engine and no suspension just a few yards short of the finishing line. A non finish *!”£$%^&*.

Grats winners and podiums. clap clap clap

I have just downloaded and watched the replay of the second race. In the replay Jeeps car stops dead by the Pit entrance and does not cross the line. He is credited with second place. I hit him and also don’t cross the line. In my race he appeared from nowhere as a flashing car.  blink eek scared I think there has been a bit of a glitch or is this a GTL booby trap.   Grin

Exactly the same happened to Ziu in race 1 I narrowly  missed him on my run upto the flag.

But in both cases if you watch the replay you will see that both Ziu and myself did cross the line and at exactly the same distance past the flag we were punted back. So I believe  it's a bug in the track rather than a server or connection issue.
