Thanks to Tony for creating a fascinating and compelling championship, I loved the diverse grids and all the possible car/track combinations. ( I notice that we have similar multi car formats for some of next season's championships
)
Grats to the podium guys in this season finale and to all those who took part.
My last in season 17 race was simply embarrassing
. I was quite prepared for my last available drive in the Escort FVA to be difficult against the faster RS1600. I even did some offline practice over the weekend to see if I could find some hidden pace. Over a 30 minute session I managed to chip about 3 secs off my initial fastest laps. I knew that the RS would be at least a second faster, so I would need to rely on being consistent if I was going to have any chance.
Well that was a joke wasn't it?
I actually had to check at the end of the race that I had used the correct setup!! I knew that the car was very nervous on cold tyres and it took at least 3 laps to even get them lukewarm, but when the race started I was not prepared for a car that felt like a completely different beast
I'm sure that many of you chuckled ( or laughed out loud!!
) and enjoyed the sight of an Escort ploughing across the grass/spinning/ slewing sideways etc. and basically struggling to complete a single lap without some drama. After collecting 2 track cut warnings in the opening laps, it was a miracle that I did not collect a SnG too!!! The handling felt so random that I could have been convinced that I had a puncture???
Apologies to Roger. I passed him a couple of times and then managed to park my car across the track in front of him on more than one occassion
He must have been sick of the sight of my Escort.
Not the finale that I would have hoped for, but a it was a great series guys with some fun racing.
