Season 30 Privateers Fun Race –  East London

The Works will be winding up their season at Dragons Nest this coming Sunday. As promised we are laying on a 67 fun race for the Privateers (& anyone else who may wish to join). To keep things simple we will race at East London, this has been a regular add on track for other cars sets but this will be the first with 67 cars.

No tokens & no chassis restrictions apply - feel free to take the Lotus.

Race List = iGOR
Server = UKGPL_8
IP = see iGOR
Race date = Sunday 11-12-16
Time = 21:00 UK time (21:00 GMT)
Track = eastlndn
Race length = 31 1aps (45 minutes)
Variant = 1967
60fps patch used   = 60fpsV2newmod
Damage Model = Advanced
Qualifying time = 30 minutes

Replays Available

Drivers are permitted unlimited Reset / Shift R’s, but each must be followed by a compulsory Stop & Go within two laps. If you take your reset on the last lap 15 seconds will be added to your time.
If you are the first car entering the pit lane to take your SnG aim to bring the car to a halt alongside the last pit stall - closest to the exit. As soon as your car is stationary you can go. You won't be penalised if you stop a little short or beyond the pit stall.
In the event that more than one car takes a SnG at the same time the following cars can perform their Stop & Go in line.
No overtaking in the pit lane.

Fun races will not be moderated – have fun but please drive like a gentleman.

Please restrict chat to pit messages including at the end of the race until ALL drivers still racing have crossed the line.

Looks like I wont make this one either as I'm covering an Ice Hockey game that night.

Oh well.

Will see you another time then Steve.
I did a few practice laps last night. East London is trickier than you might expect in 67s. I am fairly sure the brake lines are based on 65 card & you need to take that into account.

Not covering the hockey game now so should be able to get to the race, providing everything connects up and works correctly after having to reset my system.  First one in a long time so expect to be slow, or more to the point, inconsistent.

Good race, good track.  Me and Billy had a few close laps.  I seemed to be quicker through T1, but couldn't turn it into a pass. Then I stepped too hard on the brake through T1, and lost half a mile.   Roll Eyes

Well it was nice to be back on track.  Started OK, and sat behind Billy early on, who was very consistent, leaving no obvious gaps to jump through, until I dropped the car with the first of many spins.

Think I was trying to run with the diff set too aggressively after such a long break away from racing and it was catching me out under braking. I adjusted it after the race and did a few more laps which felt much more comfortable.

Anyway, hopefully make whatever race is up next.

Not as bad as it seemed, joined late and adaptes a Kyalami Setup which was not perfect.
Came away quite good when a crazy ferarri tried to go flat out through the hairpin and i spun the first time.

Recovering after a few more spins i went for third, but my engine broke before the first attack attempt.

If this race had been decided by fastest lap the finish positions would have been rather different.
The track seems rather better suited to 65 cars. Braking & accelerating out of the turns was a challenge. I had some good battles with Ronnie, Steve & Bastian to cling on to 2nd spot. Consistent run by Cookie to win - I was expecting the heavy Honda to give him some trouble. Impressive fastest lap from DC.

I must apologise - that was me.  With very few trackside objects to use as brake markers, I was relying on looking at the groove. Of course, when there are cars ahead of you, you can't see the groove.  Roll Eyes  I realised this far too late.

Out of curiosity, was anyone else experiencing the cars disappearing occasionally?  Only seemed to happen when I was near to another car and then I'd have all cars disappear for about a second.  Didn't seem to have any pattern to it but happened more than once.

Steve this is an indicator that you had connection problems.
When all other cars warp, it is you!

Yes, the Honda was tricky to drive at the limit,
just a little more pushing made the front tyres getting too hot and the turns had to be taken much more carefull Cool

From previous experience it is not always the user end that is having issues. Not saying it isn't my connection but that's why I was checking to see if anyone else was experiencing any similar symptoms.

I have 'adjusted' an anti virus software to see if that will make any difference but difficult to check outside of an online race, and not many seem to practice online any more.

I'm hoping to get on for the 66 race tomorrow and see if there is any change.

Make shure all background programs are shut down, and you are the only one using this connection Wink

To monitor what's going on when I am racing the Open Hardware Monitor is allways runng here.
Showing the plot gives me a graphical info how my PC worked during the race

Ok I'll take a look at the monitor app. Thanks

Not a chance I'll get my own connection these days, not with phones, tv etc etc connected but it's fast fibre broadband so should cope especially with a wired connection to the router.  See how it gets on tomorrow with a couple of tweaks I've made.
