The race was okay, don't really like the car though. Decided to take the Porsche so I didn't have to worry about the shifting  Grin  No idea how the Mazda or the Lotus drive.

Had a pretty good start and got 2nd. Erik was too fast in these things and it was just a matter of times before fmg caught up again. Had a good little battle, but he was clearly faster. When it was time to pit I forgot to change the tyres  Roll Eyes and I got back just a few seconds behind Erik, who decided he didn't like the bland scenery and drew a couple of donuts on the track  Grin
Had alot of understeer with those worn out tyres, but it was pretty much the same with fresh tyres, just nothing but understeer. Managed to keep Erik behind to the finish line with about a second to spare.

I found the previous combo of cars to be much more enjoyable then these.  Cool

Glad to see 9 of you got to race tonight. I found the problem with the Fanatec stuff, the power plug was rather sensitive to how it was connected. I managed to close the center pins together and now it seems be be happy. Ran 8 or 9 laps around Silverstone without issue. I can see why this Fanatec stuff is so expensive, it instantly feels so much better than the T500RS I currently have. I doubt I'll be any faster though  Embarrassed

That was a great race - can we do it again?  Grin

The Mazda was a blast to drive - sums up everything I love about 90's Jap sportscars.
If in doubt, throw it sideways  whistling

I surprised myself with my qualifying time, doubly so as my best lap was recorded on full fuel load while I 'got my eye in' for the start of the race!

I didn't expect to hold 2nd for long in the start given that all the cars around me were rear engined, so no surprises when Bob and Maikel out dragged me to Tarzan.
It was interesting to see the different strengths of the cars like that, the Mazda has outright agility and even a bit of top end, but the Porsches had grunt and grip out of the corners.
To this end I employed the best feature of all old sportscars to distract my opponents - the pop-up headlights! (Everyone knows they make the car faster Wink )

After returning to 2nd I just had to settle down and see what I could do about Erik while also keeping a VERY close eye on fuel levels - I had a 1 lap fuel window if I wanted to finish the race with only one stop.

Checked my tires not long before the stop and thought they looked fine so stayed out on them.
This was my undoing as they rapidly went off after my incredibly long fuel stop and dropped my laptimes down to nearly the 2 minute mark - near enough everybody passed me back as I wrestled my way to the line  Sad

Would still happily do the same combo again though  angel

i have no idea how that happened..

i filled up with fuel and i figured that i would just keep going until my lap times started really dropping off.. luckily i managed to do about 17 laps and then i went out with low fuel and then with decent tyres i just managed to put in decent-ish laps.

Yeah, what FMG said. Cool

No really. The Mazda was a nice and nimble car but the last laps where sideways most of the time. No match for the newer cars really.
Should do a rx-7 vs Skyline vs Supra on day. I noticed the Sportsland Sugo racetrack on RD. Should be an appropriate combo!
