That was great fun but ultimately frustrating due to technical problems for me  :'(

First off I have to apologise to a couple of guys on the grid as I had a complete brain freeze numpty moment when I tried to select 1st gear using my paddles instead of the shifter  Embarrassed this meant I gave it lots of revs and went nowhere meaning someone smashed me up the backside and I also saw another car go sideways alongside me. Felt such an idiot. I actually wanted to restart the race but I don't know who has the option to do that? (Assume picnic who sets up the server? - we need a deputy if he's not present like tonight)
Sounds like ChrisT was one of the victims, sorry mate. Think I also got aero damage as I was over a sec a lap off my pace  Sad

Anyway got going and then enjoyed a great first half of the race chasing Bob whilst spanner chased me. This went on for 12 laps until I pitted and was great fun. However as soon as I pitted my poxy game went Windows mode and lost all my controllers (this is an issue I've reported to Kunos since the last update - I thought it was fixed but did it tonight   Angry ). Only way I could get them back was hit 'return to pit' and that added a further 20 sec penalty to my stop so I was in there for ages....grrrr. Dropped from 5th to last  :'(

Rejoined angry and made a couple of errors on cold tyres. Tried my best to catch Stefan and steadily reeled him in but he finished ahead. Finished 8th  Roll Eyes

My tyres were totally shot and assume I should have used hards for this heavy fuel load? Hadn't experienced these wear levels in all my practise.  Huh But car was still pretty good due to its good downforce.

I was a bit disappointed we only had 12 runners, thought this would be much more popular as it's an awesome combination  Cool. The racing up front looked like fun.

Im sorry i didnt finish, im full of cold and i was all rushed getting home from work and having my tea, mrs nagging in my ear non stop kinda put me off racing..

Went into practise with no setup or anything, tried a couple things and nothing seemed to keep the rear planted, it was just all over.. seeing that the others were managing it better than me frustrated me as i knew it would be something in the setup i hadnt found.. started on meds.. sliding all over lasted about 4/5 laps and i just had enough.. returned to pit.. decided to carry on just to keep the numbers up so decided to change a couple of things around and for some stupid reason lowered myfuel way too much managed to find a better setup but had no fuel, still slip sliding all over i spun it and just thought enoughs enough.. rift off, ac off.. go make cup of lemsip.

Wasn't sure I was going to do the race as I kinda forced myself to take the longtail, eventhough I didn't like it, so lost motivation to race  Tongue.

Went on the practice server early to try and get the thing tamed and see if it would make it more enjoyable. In the end I went very extreme with the setup, but I hardly noticed any cons  Roll Eyes.

Had a messy lap in qually, but still was unable to improve the next laps, as the rest were even messier. With an all time low point, hitting the inside wall in T1.

Decent start but I think it was FMG that had a better start as usual and I had to defend into turn 1. After that, with the use of some boost on the straight I was able to create a gap, but few laps later, all of a sudden I see the gap to FMG decrease rapidly. I was running the boost on 80% all the time then to preserve the engine and my tyres were already yellow/red and he was on hards.

I knew I didn't have his pace, even if I pushed on full boost, so I waited for him to close up. Then it was a matter of not outbraking yourself and switching to max turbo on the straights.

I was really holding him up, so I knew I had to go for the undercut with pitstops. If he would stop earlier and use the pace he had, he would jump ahead of me, so I pitted a lap earlier than planned.
When I cam out, I left the car on 100% for the whole time, untill he pitted. But even then, I was hardly able to close the gap, so I expected him to get out infront. Also because fuel took ages, and I forgot it is fuel added, so I had way too much fuel and he didn't need that much anymore.

But he came out of the pits a few seconds behind me, with around 9 laps to go. So I was in for a repeat of stint 1. This time, we were both on mediums, but mine were already close to getting yellow.
I thought about swtiching to hards, but I was already struggling with heat into the mediums, and you can't change tyre pressure for compound change, so I left it on mediums.

The first few laps with FMG right behind me, I only used the boost on the straights, but the last few laps I left it maxed out the whole time. Worn tyres plus full boost, equals feathering the thottle to the extreme. Often barely touching the throttle and coasting through corners. I had to focus on the exits, as FMG had more cornering speed and would often leave a slight gap to have the momentum out of the corner.
Luckily for me, the extra power of the LT saved me.

This race was exactly what I was hoping for for this race, a handling vs power battle just like a few weeks ago at Imola. I have seem to be on the defending side a bit much tho  Tongue.

Had a bit of aero damage halfway through the race, no idea if that slowed me down more, but on the replay it looked like my front was wrecked  Lips Sealed. Damage model in this game is so increadibly bad.

Awesome race in the end and well done to FMG for having the patience to be behind my slow car  Grin

and I forgot it is fuel added..

Yeah, that confused the hell out of me. Plus I think I was probably reading 15 L as 15 laps, not Litres..  Roll Eyes Made 3 stops and still wasn't sure exactly what fuel I was putting in the car! On fumes at the end, but I was 2 laps down by then so just had enough to get across the line. Congrats podium.

Sorry for a tap at the chicane early in the race Frex, you must have sneaked up the inside when I was lining up on spanner and I just didn't see you in the blind side until I felt a thump on turn in  Embarrassed didn't cause either of us to go awry but you did seem to hang back after that.

@brocookie, that Sunday race looks like fun. Will see if I can attend but know we've got guests Sunday so will have to see on the day  Smiley

I think you mean me there Mark, not Fmg? If so, no need for apology - that was my fault being a bit overambitious and locking up into the chicane. As you say, we both carried on ok but I had picked up some front end damage, which is probably why I dropped back after that.

my pitstop then was surprisingly long as refuelling these cars takes forever, however somehow Eck was 20 seconds behind when i exited the pitroad.

Dont know what happened to him, but i was very disappointed and seeing him leaving the server a few laps after made me sad.. apparently something frustrating must have happened.

I need to find myself a static chair, I was rolling farther from the pedals... stretching a bit too far, I looked down at the floor. Only to feel the wall interfere with my car... lol. It had been and was continuing to be, a great race. I'd just watched Mark (spanner) do a masterful lap, to make the gap unassailable. I'd hoped to just get comfy n settle into my lot. So, in conclusion. I worked hard, to sabotage my own race... lol

Grats to Jeffrey, FMG, Maikel and all that finished.

Surprised that these cars created a good race! Seems like Marks lack of start helped hold people up as It felt like id gained loads of positions into the first corner, deceptive seeing Maikel so far down!  Was struggling to follow Bob early on as he seemed slower/faster in different places and had Mark directly behind and fell off but seemed to end up back with Mark/Bob again and had a good race with them until the stops. I'd gone with a full tank so still had a few laps to go so tried to concentrate a bit and hope I came out ahead when I stopped. I assumed Mark had sorted out how to do quick stops but then surprised to come out with a large gap to Bob and Mark was nowhere, and i'd come out in 5th! Eck was only 4 secs behind but with the new tyres and less fuel I was doing my fastest laps but only stretched the gap to 5.5 secs but was a little disappointed that he quit out. However a few laps later I noticed I was gaining on 4th! huh? But just couldn't get close enough in time before the end of the race. There's noway I should have finished 5th!

Shame a few people had issues that made them leave.

What setup changes did you make? I tried to tame it aswell but I gave up and just went with the drift mode through the corners, yours looked more stable.

My tyres were totally shot and assume I should have used hards for this heavy fuel load? Hadn't experienced these wear levels in all my practise.

Hards were definitely the tyres to go for the longtail. Mediums only lasted for about 4 laps and the hards were still pretty good after 12 laps. Had abit of a problem with heating up the front tyres but nothing abit of aggresive driving can't fix  Grin

The Porsches seem to favor a soft setup, same as the GT4.
