Moderator's Report

Server replay time: 244s

Flybri is following Truetom on the run up to Repsol on the opening lap. Truetom brakes early, in reaction to the early braking of the cars in front of him, and Flybri gets caught out and rear ends Truetom sending him off.
Drivers are reminded to take extra care until brakes and tyres are up to temp.

  • FlyBripenalty — rear ending truetom — 2 places lost

Thanks for posting that Shark, still no sign of the server Sad

I expect Gizmo will be along in a second or so to say if both NGT and GT go back a week or if GT will run as scheduled next week with NGT starting in 2.

SpaceFox is making unofficial server for fun race using 1.4, carpack, 16 players, password is same as official nGT sprint S3. It's called SimRacing.org.uk CBFR.

Just to make it official...

RACE POSTPONED

Very sorry for the inconvience.

To try and help in future is there anyone out there that has a 24 player capable dedicated server/internet connection who would not mind using it as a backup server for UKGTR (or even as a second division)? I know some of our european members have much better internet connections than us poor underpriveleged Brits  whistling, so maybe there are some options out there for us?

Yeah, no-one noticed that in the new skin pack, I smuggled in a jet engine in the back....would've left ya for dust on the straights!  whistling

Woohoo  ban. I'll make the first round after all.

Seriously though, sorry to hear tale of woe. Amazed that it doesn't happen more often and hope its fixed soon.

Not 100% sure what the issue was yet, the hosters have reported that everything should be back to normal and I can connect to the server again. It was still running the practice session I set up after the endurance race on Sunday so my guess is a network issue.

Sorry for the disappointment.

Bummer. no

I expect Gizmo will be along in a second or so to say if both NGT and GT go back a week or if GT will run as scheduled next week with NGT starting in 2.

Did somebody call? whistling We'll shuffle all the NGT races back two weeks and leave the GT races where they are.

Uhm, I think 24 will be too much for me. Here are my specs:
PC
PIV 3.2
2 gb ram
X800PE

Connection
7mb down
750 up

But if I use this system as a dedi server, I can't race myself. And our other PC is only a PIV 2,4 with a Radeon 9800pro.
I never tested a sevrer with many players, but I strongly doubt I can host a full grid race. And not using dedi server will cause xtreme lag when somebody joins or quits on my PC. I should do a stresstest sometime to see how far I can go.

I'm not sure what the real specs are for a 24 player server in GTR. But what I do know is that with my system I had a dedi server running a couple of nights and when I asked peeps they had 100 ms ping and it was smooth. Up to 17 I think players.
Connection was 4MB down/0.7MB up. System same as now almost: AMD 2400+, 768MB RAM, Radeon 9800 PRO, maxtor 160GB.

The servers u rent aren't a lot (or any for that matter) higher spec than the systems some people have at home nowadays, so I find it hard to believe that it's impossible to run a 24 player server in that way. Of course there could be something I'm missing Smiley, but if we never try, we never know Cheesy.

Indeed, the current league server is a paultry P4 2.4 so your spare system Ruskus should cope with 24 but I suspect the upload will restrict it to less.

2Mb upload will only give you 20 players. I think you need 3Mb-5Mb upload to do 24 players.

Thanks to SpaceFox for running his server last night. After the aborted first start I was lucky to get 2nd on the grid again behind Tom, and after passing him had eeked out a 7 sec gap. I kept expecting Claus to come zooming back through the field, but the I was on my own till the connection dropped out :-( Who won in the end?

2Mb upload will only give you 20 players. I think you need 3Mb-5Mb upload to do 24 players.

The NT task manager thing only shows 1-1.5 Mb in use generally, def not 3-5. Perhaps it's low because the server is beginning to struggle at that level. Anyone got a 30 player LAN so we can test it Wink
